trust the other reviews. This company is a complete scam. They're only ever going to make it possible for you to pay them more money, but never going to fix any of your issues or respond to any inquiries. We're paying for an essentially defunct system at the moment simply because there's no way to get ahold of anyone at the company. Save yourself the pain. read more

We were very disappointed in their service. First, the equipment kept breaking down and, despite numerous service calls, the problem was never resolved. And then there's the contract. We signed a 5-year contract, but moved out of the house 4 months before the end of the contract. We discovered that while there's a termination clause for Lowitt, the customer had no cancellation clause. They demanded that we pay for the last 4 months, even though the contract was cancelled. We were lucky it was 4 months and not 4 years. So, if you sign with this company, MAKE SURE TO READ THE CONTRACT AND ALL THE SMALL PRINT so you know what what you're getting into. read more

They have been very quick to respond to an alarm going off, thankfully, by accident. Their service techs are very courteous, and know what they are doing. I would highly recommend them to anyone. read more

Would not recommend this company to anyone based on the SCAM that we went through. We purposefully chose this company to support local business and were using their services for several years. I found out recently that, when we sold our home a few years ago and moved into a condo rental, we called the company to discontinue services and were told it was a 'lifetime' contract with no ability to cancel. We were told to continue services in the new home, but explained that this was not possible because the condo complex has its own security system. The alternative was to get the new buyers of our home to sign a new contract with Lowitt. The company then demanded a payout of approx. $1000 to no longer charge us a monthly fee as a 'favor.' Had I known about this fraudulent SCAM at the time, I would have reported this company to the BBB as well as to my credit card company for fraudulent charges. Save yourself the hassle of the unethical practices of this company and look elsewhere. read more

We've been with Lowitt for over 25 years. They've always been prompt, attentive, knowledgeable, and cost effective. We had a Father and Son Alarm Company servicing our home when we first bought our house. Lowitt bought out that Company and we've been with them ever since. When we remodeled our house, Lowitt upgraded and installed all new equipment at a very reasonable cost. This was done in 2006. We highly recommend Lowitt for all of your Alarm and Security needs. Big thumbs DOWN to Lowitt Alarms in Hicksville. I switched to them a year and a half ago after a company I was with ( Meenan) stopped selling alarms. At the time we were undecided if we were going to be moving. The sales rep stated it would not be an issue to move the system to a new house and we wouldn't be charged for a new system. After shopping around we got a great price and they also offered a few months free in exchange for good social media reviews( how ironic that I'm writing this post now). Fast forward to a year and a half later. We ended up moving and before the move occurred I called to reconfirm everything we originally spoke about. I was told to take all of the equipment and they will send a someone out to install at the new house and will only charge labor. $99/ hr..the original system only took 2-3 hours to install and had no prior alarm in it. The sales Rep called to make an appointment which I found off since we already had all the equipment, in fact our old house required more equipment then this house. Since then I've been back and forth with the manager there with them trying to explain to me why they want to charge me three times the original price I paid to install equipment that I already have. Their only explanation is they didn't make their money back on their first installation and I got a really good deal including a few months free. What?? What company says that to a customer? Why am I being penalized for your sales rep giving me a good price a year and a half ago and the misinformation I was told back then when I was moving. I have no problem paying for the labor but they are clearly trying to take advantage during a tough time. There are all kinds of administrative charges tacked on and it's just ridiculous. I'm extremely disappointed. I refuse to pay 3 times what I paid already for them to reinstall my system. I told them to just cancel then and take back their equipment. She then tells me it will be $1300 to cancel. Ridiculous! read more

I was impressed with Matt's knowledge and the care he put into making sure that everything was installed correctly and that all our security needs were met. I do not regularly write reviews but I often look them up. I felt it necessary to write a review about Lowitt Alarms because I have been a satisfied customer for a number of years and thought it would be beneficial to their business if I related my experience. They are a family owned business and whenever I have to deal with them there is a great personalized level of service and attention. I originally took them over as the alarm service provider when I bought my house 13 years ago because that who the prior owner used. I initially switched to one of the national alarm chains and it was a miserable experience from the first day. The technicians they sent to do the install and subsequent repairs were not employees but sub contractors. They often gave me the feeling that they were the type of person I wanted to keep out and the reason for installing an alarm system. Lowitt has their own employees who all seem to have long tenures. They are nice, knowledgeable and very respectful. After a couple of years with the national alarm company I switched to another national firm thinking it would be better service than a regional firm. Again, I was wrong. I finally broke that contract (and paid a penalty) to return to Lowitt. I find Lowitt is more responsive than the national firms. When the alarm periodically goes off Lowitt calls immediately. The national firms do not. They wait several minutes. Lowitt also has connections with the local precincts. I feel much safer with Lowitt. We recently bought a new home and I did not hesitate to hire them. I strongly recommend Lowitt for anyone on Long Island looking for a reliable alarm company that you can trust. read more

The crew was excellent in explaining there every move and when they left the place looked like they were never there, spotless. My wife and I have only been using Lowitt Alarms for approximately 2 months now, but we have been extremely satisfied with our experience. From the beginning the process has been smooth. Our in house consultant was courteous and professional and answered all of our questions. Once we signed up they took care of everything and walked us through the process. Installation of the equipment was an easy experience as the technician was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. He was very professional as well. Since we have been set up, the customer service has been great, as any question that I have is answered in a timely manner. They are always very helpful. I was a customer for 7 years on my first house, moved, and had to get them to protect my new house. The service guys are great. Always on time and helpful. I've never had any issues with billing and they always accommodate. I prefer them to the national security companies since they are based here on Long Island and use the same technology just with a local caring attitude. If you feel your current company sucks or isn't giving you a good value, call Lowitt and see what they can do. I'm not sure of how their price compares but I wouldn't trade them for the few dollars difference that it may be. Having a local company knows our values and that cares about their customers is worth it to me. read more

We became clients of Lowitt Alarms & Security when we moved from NYC to our new house in Suffolk County in 2014. Lowitt was recommended to us by family, as I usually like to use vendors in my home based on trusted recommendations. We recently sold our home and downsized to a condo, and Lowitt again did the alarm installation in our new home. We started working with Lowitt Alarms a few months ago after having trouble with another security vendor and they have been outstanding. We worked with Matt to figure out what would be best for our home security, he provided some Excellent insights and helped us navigate the different options. When it came time to set up, the technician was also amazing. Put everything together and installed in little to no time, was super clean and picking up after dust or anything fell to the ground. i have been with lowitt alarms for many years. before lowitt i was with a different company whose owner retired and suggested lowitt. i stayed with lowitt and never regretted it. any problems i had and there were not many. i have been with lowitt of the years maybe one or two problems dealing with battery life over the years they came immediately when i called and solved the problem. there call service is great when once i accidentally set my alarm off. call came within 2 minutes. would recommend lowitt to any friends or relatives if they needed an alarm company without hesitation. read more

We recently had an attempted burglary at our home while we were away. Central Station notified us (through voice message since we were unavailable) and the police immediately when the alarm went off. They were very professional and followed through with contacting all our emergency contacts when they were unable to reach us.
