I pass this place when going about town and have always been curious.... Wednesday afternoon i finally stopped in, about 12:30. There were people @ just a few tables. Bartender Michelle was friendly & attentive. I told her i drove by Tuesday night about 6:00 & there were a lot of cars. She said Tuesday is trivia night so it tends to get quite busy. Noted. I asked if today was a usual afternoon, quiet? She said yes, usually 2 to 4. I opted for a couple of tap beers. They have 22 on tap! I like how each sign indicates: beer name, brewery, ABV & city. I opted for a Wisconsin Amber by Capital and an old reliable... Old Style. Parking is easy w free street parking. There were two or three steps to get in, up to Sloopys once you open the ffont door. Once inside, Sloopys definitely has a comfortable vibe. Thanks for the welcoming inaugural visit Michelle & Sloopys. Looking forward to another visit... maybe bringing my appetite this time. Went to sloopy's for wings during lunch on a Wednesday. It was not busy, prefecture timing for fast service. However that was not the case. Our server was great. She was attentive and very sweet. Unfortunately we waited about 40 minutes for 3 orders of wings. Everything tasted delicious. Just wished it would've been a bit faster since it was during working lunch hour. To be honest, the atmosphere was great and a lot better than expected. It may have been a bad day but will have to give it another go since the food was pretty good. read more

Went for lunch today arrived around 1220 pm. Not busy in bar a few tables waiting for food. Waitress told us it would be a 1/2hour wait for food. We thought ok. Great friendly service at a great little bar in Lacrosse. The food came out hot and fast and they have a great tap beer selection to choose from. They had trivia night when I was there and everyone seemed to be having a great time. Fun atmosphere and very clean. read more

Ok so we went to try this for the first time today. The place wasn't that busy and the waitress was really sweet. The food came out really fast and was pretty good. So generally I check in on Yelp whenever I go someplace new so I did and it popped up with a discount for 10% off. There were 3 of us and I showed the waitress and she hadn't seen it before. She told the owner and another woman who I guess didn't know about it. The waitress returned, apologizing profusely and said the owners wouldn't honor the discount. (Really...it was only 10% which came out to $4.75 off). What bothered me is the owners handling of the situation. A) I get you didn't know about it but apply the discount anyway and check in with Yelp, claim the business and remove the option to offer discounts. B) Why are you going to send that poor waitress to deliver the news you were too uncomfortable to deliver yourself? As an owner, that is your responsibility to apologize and explain things to the customer. That waitress was embarrassed and uncomfortable and I really felt bad for her. While the food is good and service is fast, I don't like the way the owners handled the situation. read more

Stopped here out of necessity, totally unplanned. Amazing find. I had a burger and it was excellent. The service was prompt and very friendly. They took care of our party of 7 without a hiccup. Rode by from Chicago and if I can find a reason to pass anywhere near here I'll stop again. read more

Overall, we enjoyed our time at this long-lived beer and burger joint. Sloopy's is a located a 5-minute drive north of downtown La Crosse, on a busy one-way street in a strange residential/commercial/industrial neighborhood. (Like the old song says, Sloopy lives in a very bad part of town... Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh). The main attraction of Sloopy's are the 24 well-chosen beers that they have on tap: Leinenkugel's, Sam Adams, Guinness, New Glarus, etc. The worst thing about Sloopy's were the drink prices. By La Crosse standards, everything here is VERY EXPENSIVE: the domestic draft taps we had rang up as $3.75 to $5.00; and tiny shots of hard liquor were $3.25. And while the food was pretty good, it was not particularly inexpensive. One can have after-work drinks and snacks at other much-more-upscale La Crosse establishments (eg. The Waterfront, The Starlite Lounge) for much-less-money. The best thing about Sloopy's was our friendly and helpful waitress/bartender Emily, who took care of our every need. The boys in our group fell in love with her; the girls wanted to be her BFF. 1. Service was extremely slow considering how few people were in the bar. My girlfriend and I took a couple minutes to look at the menu before setting them down to show we were ready to order. It took over 10 minutes for the bartender to acknowledge us. 2. Bother bartenders were wearing open toe sandals. While it is not a OHSA health code violation, it still seems very unprofessional and gross. Especially in the hot summer months when fungus and bacteria thrives. Also one of the bartenders had hair past her shoulders. Again while not a legal health code violation, putting it back in a ponytail can save a customer from getting a hair in their meal or drink. 3. I ordered a Leinie's Honey Weiss. It came without a lemon on the rim. I later had to ask for a lemon. This is a minute detail but still helps a customer visit. At least ask if they wish for a lemon. This takes seconds and adds to the customer's experience. 4. Another small detail that annoyed me was that Guinness was spelled incorrectly on the tap board. When I pointed it out to the bartender, her response was," Oh. Well I didn't do it." I really don't care who did it. But you and the bar look like morons that can't spell. 5. The burgers were adequate. The coleslaw on my Indiana burger was bland, while the burger meat was cooked well. The French fries and tator tots were standard. read more

This is a great place to have a drink, a meal of food and watch a ballgame ! The bartenders and wait staff are awesome ! The food is fresh and delicious ! I love a place where the owners just get it, and this place is the prime example. Every time I'm in this place Ben is working his tail off in the kitchen and Chel is waiting tables and making sure everyone get's the attention they deserve. My husband and were here about 2:30 on a Saturday. We were the only table and there were a few people at the bar. The service wasn't what I would call fast but we weren't in a hurry and the food more than made up for it. He had a beer and a Big 10 burger with Pub Chips. The burger was Michigan state I think. It was a burger with Cole slaw mushrooms and Swiss cheese. I had the Sloopy's pizza, sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms, onions, green olives. It was excellent. Our bill was $33. I did get the large pizza so we could take some home. Love the atmosphere. read more

I have always liked this place. Did it change ownership? My wife and I stopped in one afternoon around 1:00 we were the only ones in there . sat down at a table had to ask the girl from behind the bar f or some menus that she could not even bring us had to go get them from her. Food was not what it used to be . o did I mention after the young Lady was done playing with her hair she thought it was a good idea to bring us are food. A mediocre bar (at best) that needs to find its own identity, costs too much and is in a bad location. It it a sports bar? an Irish bar? a college bar? I don't know. Many beers are on tap but all are too expensive. Same goes for their greasy menu. Plenty of other better bar/grills in town so I suggest skipping this one. read more
