Heard nothing but good stuff and on our day off, we decided to dine at the Hungry Peddler for lunch. We arrived around 12:30p and it was packed. We waited about 20-30 min before we got a seat. Which was fine since we didn't have a plan B and really had been waiting to try them out. Staffs are friendly and very attentive. Menu is quite large and offers a good variety. I got the beef tenderloin tips with a house salad and veggies. My husband got the cod with slaw and fries. Everything was cooked to perfection. Seasoned properly and came out in a timely manner. It's a cute, vintage looking building with a calm atmosphere. Will definitely have to go during dinner hours for some drinks and more fish fry (2nd best fish fry in lax)

    French onion soup

This is a great place for a comfort food meal in the La Crosse area! The service was exceptionally friendly, genuine in their recommendations, yet never overly pushy. The French onion soup was fantastic! Sometimes a real hit and miss item, this was a hit! The steak was great, cooked perfectly, and served with a delicious baked potato. Can't beat a steak dinner and soup for the price. Great supper club style restaurant on the south side of La Crosse! Definitely worth a visit at least once!

    Perfect Fall Morning Breakfast stop

Perfect fall morning breakfast stop. We waited for about five minutes and sat in a spacious little spot . We loved the eggs Benedict's and the bacon omelette. Hopefully next time they'll have the jalapeño bacon as we were told it was already sold out by 10am . Definitely check this spot out .

Very reasonable prices. Friday fish fry was good along with a couple of Old Fashioneds (Wisconsin, right)!

Cate G was an excellent server and totally not ruffled by our large group. It was no problem when we asked for separate checks - she just asked that we not play musical chairs! We were chilled from our hike so the tumeric antioxidant tea with honey (extra charge) and lemon hit the spot. We had only planned on staying for a warm beverage before heading out to lunch elsewhere but the food menu enticed us so we decided to stay. The menu offered food I love as a vegetarian! I had the Ancient Buddha Bowl with farro (quinoa is an alternative). Tumeric toasted cauliflower, roasted sweet potatoes, beets, sumac roasted chickpeas, crisped kale/brussel sprouts mix with a lemon tahini dressing. So much goodness in a bowl!! There were so many other choices but if I were to eat here again, I would try the housemade vegan burger or one of their salads. It was a bit noisy with so many people but not so that our group was not able to enjoy conversation. Family friendly with a kids corner stocked with toys.

It is also a very family friendly place with a play area for little ones. The place is busy, so service takes a little while. Overall, a great brunch spot.

Just visited La Crosse and figured I'd start my adventure with breakfast. Rosie's Café came highly…read morerecommended--and now I know why. It's the kind of place that doesn't just serve food, it serves belonging. The moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm "Good morning, hon!" and my friend had a coffee that could wake the dead (or at least a sleep-deprived newcomer). The décor is charmingly vintage, like your grandma's kitchen met a roadside diner and they decided to raise pancakes together. I ordered the chicken sandwich for breakfast! Don't judge it's a thing. because I didn't know what I was doing, and wow--turns out Rosie knows exactly what I needed. It wasn't fancy, but it was perfect. The staff made me feel like I'd been coming there for years. They joked, they chatted, they refilled my soda before I even realized I needed it. It was the kind of kindness that makes a city feel like home. Rosie's isn't just a café--it's a welcome mat with syrup on top. If you're new to La Crosse, start here. You'll leave full, caffeinated, and smiling.
