Worth a drive up here from Seattle. I found Slough Food through Paellaworks. Slough food hosts paella parties. See their event calendar. It was a fantastic experience. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The seating is outside, right by the water. Cozy atmosphere with a beautiful and peaceful view right on the water.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Paella is cooked in a traditional Spanish way. You pay per plate. At that time it was $25 per plate. Lots of meat and prawns. They had in house made Sangria, $14, not my favorite to be honest. There is also a Kids' menu. Slough food itself is a small store with some deli sold up front and other items like wine and specialty foods and gifts. Lovely people work there. Very welcoming! You do have to come and get on the waitlist to participate in the paella party. It was a long wait but worth it. I would come back again :) read more

If you are lucky enough to be in the area on the once a month event of " Paella Day" then rejoice and jump in! The vibe in the outdoor seating near the slough is a bit magical too. I can't consider myself to be a paella connoisseur, but this is fabulous! I'm grateful that it does not have much hot chili flavor, and is very savory rather than hot. What a gem in Bow! The owner John is friendly and helpful, he steered me toward a unique and delicious Orange Wine. I love coming here when they do their Paella party, usually one a month. The paella is incredible - perfectly seasoned and slightly crisp, with delicious seafood in it. The sides are top notch - I usually get a Breadfarm baguette with salted butter, Cornichons and Castelverano olives. Definitely visit this place to stock up! read more

First of all, this type of watering hole is fast becoming my favorite--the vibe is like a house party, the menu is super simple and incredibly well-selected, and you feel like you're in a secret spot. That's an irresistible combination. Second of all, it's hard to believe the hustle and bustle in downtown Edison (all 2.5 blocks of "downtown," that is). Yesterday afternoon, it was impossible to find parking for this place OR Terramar, which is a block down. And Terramar has a huge overflow parking lot. Every place in town looked packed. We went off for lunch, came back, and scooped up a vacated table. You walk in through a narrow door and into a space with a bit of vintage feel. Wine rack on the walls, and a big table full of all kinds of fancy small-batch gin: this is also the Edison Liquor Store. A room full of wine with a side of gin & tonic makes you wish you owned a vacation house around here, because you'd be well-equipped for lazy afternoons looking at the water. There's also a decent-sized deli case, with some of your very favorite meats and cheeses, along with a few things you suddenly really want to try. There's more stuff cold back somewhere, but you're on your way down the little back hall, past the washroom and kitchen, and out to the back deck. The back deck is fantastic. Multiple wooden picnic tables, sideboards along the deck rail with stools, and a translucent roof keeping the rain off but letting light in. The heaters are on whenever they're needed, and there's tons of bamboo and other thoughtful landscaping that make you feel like you're hanging out in a friend's back yard--provided your friend's place has a peekaboo view of the Edison Slough. The specials are hand-lettered on the chalkboard, and there's always a nice array of Spanish and American meats, cheeses, fishes, nutses, and breads. You can step back in time, through to the secret grotto out back, and time-warp your way through wine and snacks for the rest of the day. It's a great feel and now permanently part of my day-trip rotation. read more

There is plenty of street parking available close to the establishment, even during peak times The front of store is actually a wine store and the back is where the restaurant is at. When I came here on a Sunday, they were having a paella party. For $20, you get a generously large plate of deliciously hot paella. It was the perfect time to stop in, quiet but our server was lovely and helpful as needed but didn't overpower us as we were the only folks there. The snacks were delicious and we found a new fave cheese, bought some to go along with delightful olives. Prices are reasonable and the locale can't be beat. My bestie and I stopped into Slough for a light lunch and a glass of wine while playing in the north. Edison is small. Free street parking can be found. Parking is tight. Discover is an accepted form of payment. Slough functions as a small market, deli and bistro. Local goods can be purchased to take home. A limited menu offers light lunches and/or snacks that one can enjoy either indoors or outdoors. Slough is small and intimate so not ideal for large groups. We opted to sit outside where a few mismatched tables are set up so that people can enjoy the view of the slough. Tabs are paid for at the register indoors. My bestie and I each started out with a red glass of wine for $7 each. We shared the Grilled Cheese sandwich for $8.50. The sandwich was prepared with local ingredients (Bread Farm bread and Beecher's cheese). Our sandwich was delicious and the perfect light lunch. We each also enjoyed the side of mini crunchy dill pickles served with our sandwich. Staff was friendly and relaxed. Thank you Slough for your passion of offering/using local wares. We stopped here on our way up to Bellingham and it was such a great find. It was super charming and the staff was incredibly friendly. A simple and courteous business with very simple options, charcutterie, cheese plates, wine, a gourmet grilled cheese sandwich, and a rustic, basic (picnic table & patio chairs) setting. Very, very basic food offerings. More of a wine shop than anything, but with a unusual and relaxing setting out back. Slough Food is one of our favorite stops when we only have a few hours to get away but want to do something really special. It's a tiny place, tucked in among the quaint little shops and restaurants of "downtown" Edison, and it's a real gem. We like to order the bread, cheese, and salumi plate, a couple of pints of beer, and sit out along the slough behind the store. Afterward, we stop next door at the Bread Farm and get a couple of cookies for dessert...and if there's time we hit a couple of the little trinket shops in town. In addition to the bread/cheese/salumi plate we love so much, Slough also offers a delicious variety of sandwiches, soups, wine by the bottle or glass, and other gourmet favorites. The service is friendly and helpful, too. Be sure to check their website before you go, as Slough Food's not open every day. Gorgeous location. I love Bow, always worth it to stop in town for lunch or a coffee. This place has a good mantra and the back patio is lovely. I get that we are not from Bow so we don't know how the restaurant/shop functions. I assumed you walked in an ordered at the counter. I was wrong, so my bad but I waited patiently as someone bought several cheeses only to be told I had to go sit outside. There are no signs or instructions on how it works. We were one of three total couples that had ordered food (and before them as well), the waitress forgot what we ordered. About 35-40 min later our sandwich arrived. It was fine, about what I expected but for around $18 (tip included) for one sandwich, that's pretty steep. I wouldn't even pay that in the city....eh. Next time lunch will be at Tweets. read more

I love this place! Such friendly staff and an interesting location. The owner John is nice and has a good selection of wines for such a small place. Sarah, the main wait staff, is great. She is super friendly and remembers you if you show up again. The menu is pretty limited but I've enjoyed what I've had there. My usual is the prosciutto basil mozzarella panini and an IPA while sitting by the slough. Once a month on Sunday they do a paella. Great event where you are sure to meet someone new to talk with. We stumbled across this place by accident, and ended up with an incredibly perfect lunch and delicious wine to bring home. We sat outside under an umbrella enjoying a nice breeze, and shared the grilled baguette (ham, butter, gruyere), which was both crunchy and creamy, and the caprese salad made with heirloom tomatoes, which was incredible. Capped off with a couple of glasses of chilled white wine ... divine!! Not sure why I only took a photo of the menu, but the whole experience was excellent. One thing I really like about this shop is that a single person can shop here (you don't have to buy a gallon of this or a pound of that). Sweet Jesus I loves Slough Foods, Folks you need to check this out in your life time. Plan on passing through Edison. In fact if you live in Washington, and you probably do, then you need to take a road-trip and spend an afternoon in Edison. Your first stop should be this place. Pick up wonderful cheese, chocolate and wine to take back to Seattle with you. The owner is friendly, smart, and good looking and that should make the trip by itself. But wait, it gets better. Go next door and buy excellent artisan bread made local and family owned. Then go to one of the two bars in Edison each at opposite ends of a street that is only five houses long. In fact that one street is the town. I recommend the Edison Inn for dinner, drinks, and shuffle board. Kids, if you don't treat yourself to this small community full of art and radness in the middle of hickville county your life will lack wealth. Start the journey to Slough Foods. read more
