Was greeted enthusiastically by the bartender at the door. I asked if I needed to purchase a cigar upstairs or if they had a selection downstairs. There was a humidor where I selected a My Father cigar. There was a fine selection of single malt scotches available and I got a nice pour. Enjoyed my cigar peacefully and left a generous tip. I live on n Vermont and don't know when I'll be back but i will keep this place in mind if venture this far south. Highly recommended!!! read more

We stopped in because the bar was listed as a speakeasy on the Internet. I would not consider this a speakeasy by any stretch of the means. It is located in the basement under the cigar shop and the atmosphere is pretty cool if you are okay with cigar smoke. I think the ventilation system worked great for a cigar lounge. We were a party of six on a Saturday evening and there was a decent gathering there. When the waitress came over to our table, we asked for a drink menu and she said they didn't have a drink menu. We were savvy enough to look up the drink menu online and we were able to order. The drinks were ok...I ordered a Sazerac and my friend ordered an Old Fashioned. Both of them were off. We tried to order a glass of Port wine and we were told that they didn't have any, but when we asked the bartender (who was really cool and energetic) she said they had a couple different ones to choose from. She was going to bring a taste over, but got too busy. read more

My wife and I love this place. We bought some stogies at the shop upstairs and came down to the lounge to sample our recent purchases. The lounge is super cool. Lots of seating and quiet corners to sit down and have a long, leisurely chat with your friends (or in my case, my wife). Our server, Aphrodite recommended an amazing cocktail to us - basically an Asian twist on an Old Fashioned. It was excellent - really showcases the creativity of the bartenders at this place. Bottom line is this place has great service, good wi-if, lots of seating, good AC/air filtration and a decent selection of cigars upstairs. What more could you want? read more

I go here about once a week and enjoy the opportunity to smoke in a well-ventilated environment. The service is good and bartenders skilled. The liquor selection is limited, but that is because the space itself is relatively small. They do a good job of keeping the more popular, high-end alcohols. The cigar selection is excellent; there is a $20 cutting fee if you bring your own, although that is sometimes waived if you spend a lot on drinks as I do. There is a special members lounge with a large screen TV and personal cigar lockers. It costs around $1,000 a year to be a member. The bathroom is very nice and other aspects of the ambiance are generally good although the space itself is a little cramped. I docked a star and almost two because they often play loud rap music which is completely obnoxious and out of character with the otherwise laid back atmosphere. read more

We stopped here as we wanted to checkout a speakeasy in NH. The bar itself is really cool looking. Unfortunately, that's where anything "good" ended. Between 5 of us we ordered four Old Fashioned Cocktails and a sidecar. What we received was a sidecar and one Old Fashioned and 3 runt Old Fashions. (See picture). This place has been a favorite of my boyfriend's for awhile, and up until last month he had only visited with his guy friends. But we decided to go together as a stop on our anniversary weekend, and I LOVED IT. It is admittedly pretty tight and narrow down there (it is Portsmouth, and it is a speakeasy after all), but there is a ton of seating and standing room. The bartenders were super attentive and helpful, and I was impressed with the cigar selection. My boyfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed spending a couple hours here, smoking cigars, sipping on Old Fashioneds, and playing cribbage. Can't wait to come back! read more

Wanted this place to be good. Not many bourbon bars around. Menu had special barrel picks available for cocktails. Waitress said they were updating their menu wasn't sure they were available. They brought the drinks, but in the wrong glasses. Old fashioned came in a Manhattan glass. Also, don't believe their story about the air being recycled. It isn't. If you like cigars, then this is your place. Was hoping their drinks would make up for the smoke. It did not. Too bad. read more

I went into retail to purchase a cigar and the staff was very friendly - helped me pick out a really good cigar i've never tried before - 'the dirt english' the cigar was called. The bar atmosphere was amazing - the bartenders made me feel welcomed and immediately served my drinks in a professional timely manner. Although no food is offered - which is normal as in NH in order to serve any type of food (even snacks) you need a food license to distribute any to patrons (otherwise you're breaking the law) this place i would highly recommend. The atmosphere and the decor of this place was very cool. That's where the positive attributes end. The server we had was probably the worst I've ever had. She never came around and when she did she seemed very annoyed that she had to speak with us. I asked her questions and she directed me to someone else.
