I wish they were open seven days a week! I ordered the buffalo chicken dip to go. Dave (yes he is a real person) was friendly and polite. I have driven by this place many times. I was not disappointed. It's small but comfy and a group of men were leaving in good spirits. Everyone inside was having a great time. It was definitely busy. Got my order and went home. Opened the dip and it was a generous portion. The amount of tortilla chips was perfect. I would highly recommend a fork or spoon to put the dip on the chip because it was chock full of chicken. It had just enough buffalo sauce so it wasn't overpowering. This was definitely worth $15. They have specials often - Thursday is $18 lobster rolls so I will be going back! read more

I never knew of this place but I am so pleasantly surprised. Stopped by for buck a shuck oysters, they were very petite but delicious. It was also BOGO weenie specials and we enjoyed a Reuben style and a Maine style with Flo's sauce a few other toppings. Nicely grilled bun- my only wish is the hot dog was grilled instead of steamed. The real winner was Dave's Gumbo. It was absolutely delicious, flavorful with the perfect amount of kick. It was full of chicken and sausage. And served with delicious warmed corned bread. Went here today based off a recommendation. Was told they had a great chicken sandwich. So I fired up the website and placed an order upon seeing the images of the food I was extremely excited. I roll up and food was on time and workers seemed very nice. I got back to work to scarf down my lunch and I was beyond disappointed. 1st I paid an extra 2.50 for potato salad. They gave me Cole slaw and the slaw was not good. I opened the chicken sandwich and I was disgusted by what I saw. 1st off nothing is the same as the picture. Stopped here for some drinks and a quick bite. Super cute place with a smaller wooden bar. We sat at the bar and enjoyed a flight of 4 beers... so many to choose from!!! All were fantastic. For lunch I had a delicious chicken sandwich and a side of potato salad. Definitely hit the spot. Staff was very friendly and let us try a wide variety of beers. Since it was around Halloween they gave out candy to all their customers. Lots of locals were here with us. Everyone is so welcoming and friendly. Great place to hangout. read more

This summer (2025) I went on a mission to find the best lobster roll within 100 miles radius from Amesbury mass. I tasted and enjoyed many, but Dave's was literally the best that you could come across. I don't even mean this to say that I had it once and it was good--I came back more than 6 times. Cafe is a good term for this location. The restaurant space is cozy and the service was good. Our server came by frequently to check in with us for food and refills on drinks. They have a pretty selection on beers, but I didn't have any this time. I had their Thursday special lobster rolls. And it was delicious, the lobster didn't have too much mayo and it was big chunks. There was a piece of the lobster cartilage in the claw meat, so I had to eat around it. I chose cole slaw as my side and that was good too. OMG. The best service we've received in the Northeast. Jamie was so sweet and attentive. She made excellent recommendations for our whiskey flights. And the relaxed local bar and chill ambience fit our vibe completely. This place had the best bourbon menus of anywhere we looked in Maine, NH, and MA. It also boosted generous pours of amazing selections with reasonable prices. As an unexpected surprise, the lobster roll which was only $19 was one of the best we had the entire trip! It had a delicious Mayo-based flavor explosion and consisted of only claw and knuckle meat that was locally sourced. Owner/Chef Dave is creative and affable. Quaint fun spot on Route 1 in Kittery. A lot of tourists stop in, in the summer and they rave about his lobster rolls. Locals love his seafood offerings as well. Family owned & run which gives it a "local feel." Friendly staff and pretty much everyone who goes there regularly knows everyone else. Popped in for a quick bite to eat on a rainy Sunday. We were able to snag one of the few parking spaces in their private lot. Upon arriving, we were directed to a table immediately. There was a bartender and one waitress handling service. Waters were brought over for each of us without us asking, which was nice. Bottled sodas, lots of different beers and even bottomless mimosas were available. (Only $19 on Sundays only!). My son noticed the games that were available for guests to use so we entertained ourselves while waiting for our food. Our soft pretzels with Gouda cheese sauce came out quickly. We all enjoyed those. After only a round or two of cards, our main dishes arrived. The chicken patty looked basic & previously frozen, but the burger seemed fresh and juicy. The kids meal came with 5 nuggets, a bag of chips, and a prepackaged cup of applesauce. The adult dishes had side choices of chips, potato salad, or coleslaw. We went to Maine Beer Cafe and the food is delicious. It is honestly some of the best food I have had outside my own kitchen in a long time. My nephew had the Shepard pie. It was fresh, hot and full of meat and veges with a nice layer of mashed potatoes on top that had been browned to provide a nice crust on top. Eric had gumbo which had just the right amount of kick to it. I had a lobster roll on a toasted bun. The lobster was nicely hand picked and a generous amount. I received a Facebook notification of a bourbon tasting every Friday from 5-8 and was excited to try interesting allocated whiskey. We arrived, and the driveway was expectedly packed. When we entered the building, we were surprised at how small of a place it was, and every table was full. Strangely, no one was really drinking or eating any longer (the tables were full of empties), and it appeared to be a Christmas party or something because they were calling Bingo??? I asked if I was in the right place and they confirmed that I was, but that they were full and we should have gotten a reservation (for a bar?). The Bingo Caller said that he would start calling again as soon as they got rid of a few of "these people". Overall, it was a strange vibe. Seemed like there were others who had the same concern because 4 guys entered and left just as quickly. It seems like only running one theme a night might have served them well because the bingo was keeping people in their seats instead of opening them for the next round of patrons. The food is outstanding. My husband had the Pesto caprese sandwich and he said it was the best he's ever had. I had the lobster roll and it was loaded with delicious fresh lobster. We were traveling from Bar Harbor to New Jersey and stopped for lunch. On a side note my husband accidentally left an envelope with money in it. We had already made it to the bottom of Massachusetts before realizing it was lost. We called the cafe and spoke with the staff and she found the envelope where we were sitting. She contacted the owner, Dave, and he made arrangements to get the money to us right away. This was our vacation money and we were impressed by the honesty and integrity of Dave and his staff. Let's just say with the 4+ star rating I went in expecting way more than I got. They were out of items, no big deal. For a beer cafe most beers are cans/bottles which was sad. The wait time was atrocious, not the waitresses fault but the kitchen's. No idea how there were so backed up when there ere only like 6 tables. It was a 50 minute wait for our food. The menu is a blatant lie. The burgers are far from smashed, more like frozen premade patties. I ordered the classic and something on there was seasoned funny so the taste was off putting. The kettle chips are not homemade so don't go thinking that. They are just a bag of chips, menu should state it's a bag of chips. The potato salad definitely was not made in house. During our couple of weeks in Kittery last summer, we paid a couple of visits to the Maine Beer Cafe, as it seemed like the closest place that had a wide-ranging selection of beers to choose from, as well as some standard-fare food to eat as well. There were a few chairs outside to eat; inside, there's a decent amount of counter space where I could imagine folks could stand around and imbibe during normal times, but it was cleared out then (and probably still is now). While the can selection is very broad and has a nice focus on local brewing, as well as some beers from further away, a clear missed opportunity would seem to be having growlers of any size that could be used for the beers on tap. That said, the folks are amiable and easygoing, and it was always easy to get drinks quickly. The food took a little longer, and while it's filling, I found the burger to be very average and lacking in flavor. I was also a bit frustrated because the side of soup that I ordered was completely forgotten as well - at least it was easy enough to get it refunded. The wrap that my wife had was also nothing to write home about. Overall, I do dig the beer selection, and its centrality along Highway One makes it easy to get to. But as a food spot, don't be counting on much of anything spectacular. read more
