They change beers on tap regularly. Excellent service at the bar. Depending on day and time it is very loud. Too loud outside with all the people screaming and not talking normal. No Table service staff anymore. Another stupid Covid excuse surely. Runners and inconvenienced for sure. Guess I have come to expect people don't know what respect for others means in our society. Food was good. Tried chicken bacon ranch and Margherita pizzas. Definitely overpriced for size by $2 bucks each. Figure that's how they are paying runners instead of real waitstaff. We stopped by to get takeout pizza but didn't know there was a fenced-in play area for the kids. So we parked and ate on the patio while the kids played. Pizza was wonderful and the draft beer was cold and refreshing. We will definitely be back! read more

Was great food however it is changing. The food not so much, but the service is. Today I made a phone order at 12pm Noon. I left my name and phone number and an order for two pizzas and an appetizer. The person on the phone asked for the time of pickup and I said 4:45PM today my wife would pick it up. It was for a graduation party. My wife arrived and... she paid and then was told the food was not made. The manager said, "We don't know who took the order but they never wrote the time on the ticket." Okay ... so why didn't you call me on my phone number I gave after spelling my name twice and phonetically to your employee. I want this place to succeed but after two years it appears California has flooded it, and the food stayed good while quality control and customer service has fallen flat. This is our third bad trip here in a couple months. I enjoyed their first two years open, but I think we are gonna need to go on a break. Hands down the best pizza we have ever had. I could literally eat the crust plain, by itself. Their fries are ridiculously amazing...not greasy, perfectly seasoned and with just the right amount of crisp. Their salads are great. Great craft beer selection. Their wings are great...not kidding, every single thing is on point. Parking can be a bit tight at times, but way worth it. And there is a huge outdoor area with plenty of tables and a great area for the kids to play. Oh and they share a space with Common Grounds coffee that has fresh kombucha on tap They are the only place that is a MUST, when in Waco. I really hope they start popping up with other locations in Texas. Oh and we spent a month vacationing between Waco and Austin and came here probably way too much (ha) but we never had an issue with service - from the cashier, the bartender, the food runners...all were courteous and great. read more

We love Slow Rise! They have a fantastic beer selection (could use more cider), a great outdoor patio, and the best damn loaded fries this side of the Pecos. The pizza selection is pretty good and I usually like the slice of the day. I wish the crust had a bit more flavor to it though... It's a great place to meet with friends or to take the kids for dinner but you may want to get there early as it tends to fill up fast at peak times. We started with a house salad, which I would rate a solid "B" as in H-E-B, prebagged, typical salad mix with diced tomatoes and croutons & three cucumbers added. Wasn't expecting a gourmet salad at a pizza place but it's nostalgic, took me back to grade school salads. Our pizzas came, two slices of cheese. The good: the pizza was hot, crust was crunchy but able to be folded. Sauce was flavorful, but I had tasted it at other pizza establishments before, so it's from a jar/can/etc, but it was flavorful still. Cheese was perfectly melted & the back crust was perfect, not burned, not white & underdone. It is a solid piece of pizza, good NY style. Worth the drive to Woodway from Temple. The crust held up well, was a little too crunchy which doesn't mean bad, it means there wasn't an abundance of cheese on my "cheese pizza". I think most of the stars must be for trendy. Service was so-so. Not bad, nothing to brag on. Not a very expansive choice of craft ale but the bartender found one, their only one, which was nice (hence 2 stars). The pizza is expensive but the slice is a good portion. I pre ordered about 50 dollars worth of food for it to be ready for pick up after work, I was Promised that all I would have to do is park by curb , call them and they would bring it out instantly... You got it,,,, Nothing was further from their promise, I got there and parked then called them after the second attempt I finally got in only to find that they didn't have my name and didn't know where the person who took my order was at in order to ask him about my order. Needless to say after 25 mins or so they finally found it and bought out my order. It turns out that they gave one of my plates away to another customer and I had to wait for it to be replaced. I found out also that the guy who took my order around 3:00pm when I called it in and asked for it to please be ready at 5:15pm , well he had gotten off his shift at 5pm and left no forward instructions about my order (or it got lost or dropped). Both bartenders not wearing masks, and numerous staff members not wearing them correctly, during Covid 19 pandemic. Patrons allowed to walk around freely unmasked, and no encouragement of social distancing in the bar area. Beer selection has declined sharply in the last number of months (used to be one of the best in Waco) and pizza was somehow greasy, floppy, and lukewarm. Our family LOVED this spot! We ordered the loaded fries and 20" Waco pizza and our family of 7 had leftovers. It was all amazingly delicious! It was clean, the bathroom smelled nice and not like a chemical poopstorm, and being able to sit back and relax while the kids played was wonderful. Staff was friendly and helpful. It shares a building with Common Grounds Coffee shop, so I popped next door for dessert on my way out. Ordered a small pizza and 2cheese slices and it took over an hour to get our food. I asked 2different waitstaff and was told by the first that a small pizza takes longer to stretch the dough and would take over an hour. Food finally arrived after an hour and a half wait. Pizza was good but not worth the wait, we did notice that other people that ordered just before us had asked for a box and took their food home as they got tired of the wait. We did the same. I haven't even gotten my pizza yet but I'm waiting in the drive thru for an order we called in and the server/waitress was the rudest I've ever encountered! We've eaten here, in the restaurant, one time and as I remember the wait staff was very friendly then. I never post reviews but I honestly couldn't believe how she spoke to us like we were crazy! We ordered over the phone for pick up and they told us we could come to drive thru to pick it up and when we drove up, she told us we should've notified her when we first drove up before we got to the window!! How ridiculous!! She saw us drive up! And besides, who speaks to customers that way!! Glad I didn't post this yet! Been waiting over an hour for one pizza we ordered on the phone and we have been waiting here for 30 minutes when they told us 10 and not one person has come to say a word to us.
