I'm giving this five stars if you are looking for one thing. This is the best burger in Dayton, at a fun older bar. Nothing fancy about it, just great burgers with beer on tap. Love Slyder's for burgers and chili cheese fries. Whenever I crave a good burger, Slyder's is my go to place. The chili cheese fries are very good. I did notice that this last time though they were in a small fry type tray versus the platter they use to be served on. Still the same great flavor though. Honestly, I have never had any other food here because I always go there for the same 2 items. It is an old smaller bar with very friendly staff. I recommend trying it. read more

The friendliness of the staff to customers and to each other was such a lovely experience, and I can't wait to go back. A neighborhood tavern that's older than I am...70 years! If my boyfriend had carved my initials on the bar many moons ago it would still be here cause nothing ever changes. It's East Dayton at it's best. My son likes to take us here. He loves the owner is always around and service is oh so good. He ordered a bacon cheeseburger with a side of fries and the server said "Honey, order the special with the sauce on the side, and it will be cheaper." Well, alrighty then. Cheaper is always better. And the food is good. I had a basket with onion rings, poppers, chicken fingers and potato skins. I usually eat more healthy, but it just seemed right and it was! Oh...burgers come in sizes. Four ounces, five ounces or seven ounces. When my son ordered the large she said "I just knew you would go large!" My son did ask if they had Angels Envy and the server and I both laughed. Top shelf here is Jim Beam. And that's OK. It's that kind of place. And they have lots of beer on tap. And lots of regulars. I've eaten at this place about 50 times over the years. It's a regular go-to for bar food. Best wings in the area, but also known for their burgers. Really enjoy the patty melt. Service is always top notch. Most of the staff has been around for quite some time. The venue is a bit small/cramped at peek times. Went to visit with family and they suggested Slyder's. I don't know alot about Dayton but was told that they had Great burgers. Arrived at Slyder's only to find out it was fried walleye special night. Three Large pieces with coleslaw and Mac and cheese. Will return because I didn't get to try the burger that I heard was so good. We decided to go out for burgers tonight and we chose Slyder's because the Dayton Daily News has rated it as the best burger in the City. This is a local cozy corner bar that also serves food, and the have a large menu. It was packed at 5:00. The burgers are ginormous, bun was upscale, came with pickles, lettuce and onion. It was cooked to medium as we asked. But it lacked in any seasoning and it was somewhat dry. We also ordered wings at medium heat, all drums. The Wings outshined the burger, crispy, delicious with a blue cheese sauce. Ooooooo. Fries were crispy fair in size and held plenty of ketchup. But they were just fries. The price for these were very reasonable. It's better than a 3 but a hard call for a 4. If I could give 1/2s, I'd rate this 3.5. I don't think the DDN has their burger rating correct. read more

I wanted to try this restaurant because of the reviews. Called in and placed an order for a party of 3. The man who took our order was so rude and short with us we decided to cancel our order. We weren't rude, or demanding simply wanting to try your burgers. We felt so uncomfortable how we were spoken to we called back and canceled. He was still rude and used they're just busy as an excuse. Horrible horrible service. If you're miserable at your job quit and do something different. It's unfortunate but we will NEVER eat here. Slyder's is a classic dive in the Belmont neighborhood. It's small inside and usually always busy. Lots of bar seating. The servers and bartenders are very friendly and pretty attentive. The food is usually awesome here, and the menu is actually pretty large. Great burgers and wings. But I've been there before when it was busy and the chili came out cold and the wings were overcooked. They don't mind bringing out fresh hot chili if you ask. Parking is limited but you can park across the street at the Walgreens. read more

The BEST burgers in Dayton! Beats even Tanks. The largest drawback, is that they close for Sunday. This is incredibly strange for me, especially for a Sports Bar setting. Why would you give up such a huge grossing day, even if you just did it for the NFL season. And this year, they will also have the World Cup, so I'm confused by that. We've been coming to get Dayton's best burger for years. Great service and food. Not sure what happened but the chemistry of the staff really has turned it up. A true team working hard to offer a great experience. Burgers and onion rings are definitely the way to go here. The tenderloin sandwich is great and the fiancé enjoys the fish during lent. We live within blocks of Slyder's Tavern but had never eaten there. We decided to go after a recommendation and review of their menu. The food was VERY tasty - wife had stacked ham sandwich and I had the Reuben sandwich. Beer battered onion rings are SUPER! Service was VERY friendly and they regularly checked on us to make sure everything was good. I don't know HOW we've missed Slyder's, but we'll certainly be back to sample other menu items! read more

First and foremost, I was impressed that this restaurant actually abided by the rules of covid. They had a separate entrance and exit, all of the employees wore masks, and I waited in my car until the order was ready and they called me to come inside to pay. Now, the food... the burgers were delicious and I'm sure the fries would have been much better fresh out of the fryer but I won't hold that against them since we did order take out. My kids liked the chicken tenders. However, if we order again we will skip the jumbo sampler and get onion rings instead of fries. I was disappointed with the sampler, the poppers were subpar as well as the sad looking potatoes skins. read more

During my short stay in Dayton, Slyder's popped out as a place that could have a potentially good burger. And boy did the mushroom swiss burger live up to the positive reviews, as it was juicy and a delight to the taste buds. I also had some apps that had a bunch of fried foods (fries, mushroom, cheese, etc.) in its collection, and it was solid bar food. The bartenders and servers were great - it was fun to watch them interact with their regulars and they did everything with a smile and in a very quick manner. I've been going to Slyders for 30 years. One of the oldest bar/restaurants in the Dayton area. It's the kind of place where people bring their family to eat. I could take my family for dinner and never did anyone get out of hand. Cold beer, great food, and friendly atmosphere. The burgers are excellent, as are their wings (big). I can honestly say I've never had a bad meal there. It's a throwback to the "neighborhood bar". I plan to keep going for another 30 years. We wanted a really good burger and this is about as GREAT as it gets...a REAL burger! Great fries and onion rings, too, plus over a dozen beers on tap! (Thanks for having stouts!) Got there shortly after opening, and by noon the place was almost full--now we know why! Side note: my husband uses a wheelchair and was able to get in just fine, but wouldn't be able to maneuver much past the door if things got busy; I'd recommend off hours for those in chairs.
