We picked a perfect evening to enjoy this restaurant. There was a nice breeze and we were nicely shaded from the sun by their numerous umbrellas. Since they are known for their burgers, I selected the 1/2 lb with American Cheese cooked medium well. It tasted like it came off a charcoal grille and was the perfect temperature. The bun had also been grilled on the inside. It was dressed exactly how I wanted and made even better with the curly fries. My hubby got their seafood platter with fried shrimp and grilled mahi. He loved their portion size and flavors. I stole a bite of one of the hush puppies and they were yummy. Our waitress was always filling our drinks before they were empty which is no small feat because my husband can drain a cup quick. Well, Ocracoke Parade starts at 4:00, 15 minutes from now. This is the perfect spot, right on the same path as the parade. This was recommended to us by the locals for good burgers & drinks. Very laid back, open air seating, & canopy for shade. My wife and I split the burger, onion rings, & hush puppies. Whoa! Very filling indeed. Burger was prepped just right along with the onion rings & hush puppies. Wash it all down with specialty Mimosas, you've got yourself dinner. We sat at the wrap around bar for eats & drinks. They have plenty of hi-top/regular tables for seating. Parked our golf cart across the street, ( everyone has a golf cart here ). Their menu has plenty to offer, sandwiches, salads, seafood, & even wraps. If you gotta have a burger while on Ocracoke Island, give this place a try. read more

The location is great and they are very dog friendly but the service is HORRIBLE. For some reason I come back here every summer and every summer I regret it. Today, I practically had to beg for a server to take our order. There are only 12-15 tables in the whole place and they have plenty of staff but they just can't ever seem to get it right. read more

Delicious fried shrimp, curly fries, grilled chicken, grilled fish special, and drinks! Highly highly recommended! The mimosa was fantastic! We absolutely loves the atmosphere and service. The dog walking around with a Mohawk was hilarious. The restaurant mostly has outdoor seating under umbrellas and is right on a working dock. I came here with my family and our pups for lunch. It's a unique spot - right on the dock of the marina! While we ate a boat came in and unloaded their catch and started cleaning the fish. It was super cool but a little smelly. Our server was alright - standard for island service. Our burgers were good - juicy and cooked how we asked. The curly fries were a tad too greasy. My cousin who loves chicken fingers was not impressed by theirs. Overall we enjoyed our lunch together especially because we could have our dogs sit with us! read more

I didn't care for this place. it was a little run down. The highchair would not buckle as it was missing a piece to it. The food was so-so. What a lunch!! We were seated quickly by a great hostess who also got our drinks. We had the fried shrimp and fried oyster dinners. We are from New England and take our seafood seriously. We weren't disappointed. The shrimp was remarkable! Oysters were great. Both came with curly fries and coleslaw which were great. The staff was extremely busy but very attentive. Great spot on the pier. We first stopped at Jolly Roger's. But I wanted real seafood, and not chuck e cheese for adults, or long john silvers on the pier. We left and went down to Smacnallys. Good thing too. Our well behaved dog was welcomed, (even though she was large, exhausted and looked more like a beached whale lying on the floor). They even brought her a bowl of ice water. The menu had real local catch of the day flair, and I wanted that. They had mako shark and drum on the menu for lunch. I had the drum sandwich. Look I won't write some long foodie review here. Just go to the place. The pasta salad was great, but that drum sandwich was massive and it was only like 15 bucks. Reasonably priced, excellent food that isn't greasy tourist trap slop and they treated our aging dog who was along on her 'victory tour' vacation like she belonged. That went a long way with us. If you like seafood, go here. Just go. Seafood is my favorite thing, and this place does it right. We'll be back soon enough..... read more

Visited Ocracoke for the day. Grabbed dinner here before catching the ferry to return to the mainland. Service and atmosphere was as expected as far as you'd expect outdoors and on the water. Food was mediocre. Service was great which is why I gave it a 3. Had the fried calamari as an appetizer. It was fishy and cold. Husband got grilled mahi-mahi .with curly fries and slaw. It was so so he said. I wanted steamed peel and eat shrimp but the steamer was down. I got the mango shrimp wrap as recommended by the server. The shrimp was fried, cold, soggy and rubbery. I think on a slower night it would be better. I should've told the server food wasn't good but I just didn't have the heart to do since she was working hard and was really nice. read more

My original opinion of this place was not high but my husband wanted to go. I changed my mind completely by the end! The view and breezes set the stage. Watching the fishing boats come in and unload their passengers and catch was a highlight. They slap those fish up on the pegs and it makes you hungry so now you order food. We wanted something other than seafood after a few days of nothing else. We ordered the burger with provolone and pesto - and were pleasantly surprised! The pasta salad was also really tasty. Best part is mimosas by the pitcher and local brews (1718!) Available. Oh, visit the bathroom for hundreds of photos of fishermen and their amazing catches! We will definitely be back... Service was terrible. Throughout our entire dinner (about 40 minutes) we only had our starting drinks, not a single refill. Blame shouldnt go to the waitresses though as it looked like there were only two on shift for a very busy night. This place might be great, might not-- we have no idea because we couldn't get a seat, despite multiple tries. We stopped by on a Monday night-- just tw0 of us-- around 5:00 and were told it would be about an hour long wait; no problem; it's a busy and popular place, it's dinner time/happy hour, and they took our phone # and would text us when our table was ready. An hour and a half goes by and we stop back to check in bc we haven't heard anything and they said oh, we must have missed you or something, haha, sorry, we skipped you, maybe lost your number, but now the wait was two hours long-- and now it's nearly 7 pm. Then as we were debating whether or not to stay they came out and said sorry, they wouldn't be seating anyone else that night bc they close at 9 pm. We thought hey, anyone can make a mistake, we know the island is really busy and lots of places are understaffed, so let's try again the next day. We were hungry by then and had a great meal at Jason's up the road-- really good food, super friendly and swift service, and only about a 15 min wait. So Tuesday we try again-- because the reviews are just so good-- so we get there around 3 pm, and stood around in a little crowded area for a good 15-20 minutes before anyone came over and asked to take our name for a table. We can see a good 3-4 empty tables. There were three young teenagers working at seating and bussing tables, plus maybe 2 waitresses trying to serve. Again we get it, it's busy and high season. This time there was a short wait of about 15 minutes (on top of the time it took for anyone to acknowledge we were there.) So we waited, and they called us-- and they sat us at one of the only tables in the place in full sun. We asked if we could put up the umbrella, and they said oh, there was some wind earlier so it had to stay down (every other table had an umbrella open on it.) I said you know what, no worries, let's do this-- we will go back to the end of the line and wait for a table that is not directly in the sunshine. (I've had some close bouts with skin cancer and do my best to avoid full sun.) We were smiling, pleasant, not in a hurry. They said no problem at all-- and again, took our phone number and said they would text when a table under shade was ready, and that it would be about 20 minutes. Again, no problem at all-- we were patient, willing to wait, we understand that it's busy, etc. We wandered over to the art gallery, thinking we had a few minutes, but our phone went off almost immediately, so back we go: to a table with ONE seat in shade, one seat in full sun. Sigh. We tried to gently move the corner so we could both sit on the shady side, and the girl said hey, you can't move the tables & chairs. (which I understand-- servers need space to walk, but we would have been out of their way.) Just at that point the table next to us cleared, but they wouldn't let us move there because a group had come in behind us with 4 people. At that point it was pretty clear we were not really important to them at all, so we left. Please understand I get that it's busy, that there are tourists, that servers need to do all the things they need to do-- but the whole attitude of everyone, the lack of communication, bringing us back to seat us again in full sun-- it just was a terrible vibe, and a two-strikes experience. The location is charming, I understand the food is really good, and I know it's outside so sure there will be sun and bugs, etc: just be CLEAR with your guests. Don't cancel us after we've waited over an hour, don't seat us specifically where we asked not to be seated, don't be terse with us when we are being very calm and when we happily tell you we are not in a hurry and will wait. But leaving us hanging in the middle of the place, losing our number the first night, and not listening when I said "anywhere but in full sun" (which was 80% of the restaurant!), well none of that makes me want to give it a third try. read more
