This has been one of the best boutiques I have visited. I had purchased sneakers while I was visiting my sister, went back to San Diego, months later they finally were ready to wear. We had a small problem, I thought for sure I was at a loss. Emily, was so professional, the owner was overly concerned. We discussed the options because I bought them so long ago, discounted, no receipt. They were able to look up the skew number and are sending me a new pair of sneakers for my daughter. This boutique is reasonably priced, a boutique is just that not Amazon. Take that into consideration when you say its over priced. great customer service, i always ordered from them everytime i need some gift for my niece,nephew, friend's kids, etc... i don't really know what consider trendy for babies. but one thing for sure, i hate buying pink for baby girls or blue for baby boys. and this store accommodate my request with perfect attitude. all i need to pay is $7 for gift wrapping and they send off the packages next morning, and i'm free from not going to post office :D read more

Such adorable clothes for girls. Their selection of clothes and shoes are pretty good for being a small store. Some of the other items they carry for kids are diaper bags, swim suits, books, bathing essentials, and hats. The service is very, very friendly and helpful. I read the website, went there to purchase gifts for my sister's newborn twins. I chose Small Frys for the eco-friendly, organic, made in California products, and the free gift wrapping. The free gift wrapping was crucial in my decision to shop here, on my lunch break, for last minute gifts. On their website they say call ahead to make sure the items advertised are in stock. Really, you should do that, as they had NONE of the 10 items I was interested in. However, I'm dinging them 4 stars for the wholly unsatisfying gift--wrap interaction I had. As I was paying, the guy ringing me up, who was very helpful, said within earshot of the manager (owner?), "we just put these outfits on sale yesterday!" The manager-person grimaced. She came over and started folding and informed me that they do not offer free gift wrapping for items bought on sale, but because the majority of my purchase was non-sale items, she could do it. Huh? There is no qualification on the website, but ok, great, thank you. Yes, please. Gift-wrap my items, the gifts I've bought here today to help support the small, local merchant, the toys, the hygiene products the clothes, the hat, the book the cd. She was clearly not happy, and as I began eying the wrapping paper, she told me I could "go run an errand and come back" and everything would be wrapped. When I came back I was handed a bag. Inside was an unwrapped, flimsy brown cardboard box that was so stuffed with my purchases, it would not close. They had tied a ribbon around the box, at least, but this appeared moreso to hold the whole thing together. Inside, nothing was wrapped --despite reams of wrapping paper and ribbon behind the counter. The only thing exceptional about the box was the brightly colored logo, Small Frys, which they were careful not to cover with the ribbon. I couldn't believe it. Really? Would I really want to present a lot of high end baby gear to my loved one in a cheap cardboard box that privileges your logo over any sense of style in presentation? Do these people consider presentation at all? Yes, I think they do, given the quality of the wrapping paper I saw behind the counter. However, I think that on this day, for whatever reason, no one wanted to spend the time wrapping gifts, despite having two employees on hand and an empty store. Because I was on a lunch break I did not have time to discuss this with them, and took my purchases and left. As I was walking back to my car, I realized that not only had I wasted 20 minutes of my lunch hour waiting for them to wrap, but that I now had to stop and buy wrapping paper and tape to do it myself, AND write a Yelp review. Maybe they didn't want to waste any paper on a measely $160 purchase. Well, now neither of us will have to worry about wasting wrapping paper at Small Frys. With all the new and soon-to-be-coming babies in my life, I'm estimating that I'll be spending $1000+ a year, on holiday, birthday and other gifts. But not at Small Frys, baby, no way. There are too many other friendly shops around. read more

Great place!!! Love the selection of shoes, clothes and toys. There's a little table area with toys for kids/toddlers to play which is great for any parent while shopping. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Had a problem with a shoe and they kindly helped and resolved that issue right away. I wish there was a place like this on the east bay so I could come in more often. read more

I have to say some of their clothes are cute....and pricey.....yikes! The sales staff was really pointing me towards the more expensive clothes when I know that my little guy will be out of it in a month or less. When I didn't want to go for an item and was looking at something cheaper the sales staff lost interest in me....Bottom line.....if you aren't going to spend $40 on a tee shirt (which is cute) you aren't worth the effort? I understand everyone has a bad day...but is this one of those times? read more

I go to this store whenever I want to buy a friend a baby/child gift. It's super cute inside, starting with the red dutch door in front, and the employees are nice. The merchandise is adorable and mostly high quality, but as in the bulk of the other stores on 24th Street, at least somewhat overpriced. Though once there was an awesome promotion where everything in the store was on sale and customers determined what percentage off they would get by drawing a colored widget out of a box. That was cool. Anyway, before my last visit I would have rated this store four stars. However, last time I had to pay $2.00 or $2.50 for a box to have my gift wrapped because I purchased a sale item. What a lame new policy! I have purchased many marked-down items here over the past three years, and I was always given a box for free. Admittedly the box - and colored curled ribbons they put around it - is very cute, but with the store's very high merchandise prices I expect the owners to absorb the cost of a cardboard box, at least when a customer asks (obviously some people buying sale items aren't buying gifts). read more

Great children's store in the heart of Noe Valley. I have purchased a few things for my sons there over the years, and have gone in there many times without buying anything but have never been given the cold shoulder as some other posts suggest. A bit pricey, but I would rather shop there and find something unique than support a big box retailer. read more

Two things to love about this place-- the service and the goods! It makes me happy that it is an independent brick and mortar shop in my neighborhood, not some chain. They have absolutely a great selection of clothes and gifts. For the past 4 years I have literally gotten every single baby shower gift from here and everyone oohs and awws when they open it and want to know where I found such cute stuff. They carry Tea, Zutano, Mayoral etc. They have a neat selection of books which I haven't seen anywhere else--such as ethnic books that teach about festivals in Japan or Chinese New Year. Every time I walk through their door just to browse, I end up come out buying something else cute for my girls! The ladies that work here are excellent at helping me find the right thing whether it is another baby shower gift or a toy for a birthday party or clothes for my kiddos. Great service! They have been excellent about ordering a size I need and getting back to me when it arrives. Gift wrapping is also on the house which is refreshingly nice. So glad SF has this place! read more
