My daughter has been going to Dr. Rick since she was a toddler. Due to age (getting older), we were told she is ready to see a primary dentist. After (2) different primary dentist visits, both had the same results of 14 cavities. We have been faithfully going every 6 months. Not once have we ever been told about any issues. So much for preventive care. We can't wrap around on how an individual can get 14 cavities within a year... Dr Rick and staff are clearly not doing their job. Shame on you. Look elsewhere or advocate for you and your family. Clearly Small World Dentistry doesn't care. read more

Since apparently my other review was somehow deleted, but either way I still feel like I need to say it again. I was a patient throughout 2011-2020. For years 2013-2016, I was mistreated and am now here out the the anger of my PTSD. 1: They did work on me that both my mom and I think was unnecessary, as I recall never feeling pain or any signs of cavities or abscesses in the teeth that needed to be work on, extensively, with apparently enough numbing being laughing gas and an "anesthesia" covered scraper, poked hard into my gums. 2: Apparently, they thought that the issue was that I was not happy with the dentists, considering at the time of the abuse, I was between 5-8 years old. So instead of giving me actual numbing to do work that I believe was not needed, they changed me to a different dentist. 3: In May of 2021, I switched to a nicer, local dentist, he asked this office for the files with my history and they refused to give them to him. Hiding your abuse, eh? 4: My mom was not allowed to be in the room with me after I turned 5, because apparently that's the age where children and old and mature enough to go anywhere without their parents, shit, we should make the drinking age 5 if you think that 5 is the age where people are comfortable being on their own! 5: They told my mom for years and years that i should get braces, not when I have adult teeth, IMMEDIATELY, put braces on baby teeth and have them fall out and fuck up your adult teeth! Anyways I got Invisalign from a nicer, local orthodontist and not these child abusers. This place hurts children for no reason for money, take my word. You guys are lucky, when malpractice happens to a minor they have until they're 18 to sue, and we don't want to sue as of now due to how hard malpractice cases are to win. Maybe it was by design? To make money and not face consequences? I can tell you who I am, and we'll see what you have to say. read more

Consistently sends statements with "balance forward" but no original statement showing what the charges are for. After my son's braces being broken twice after cleanings, we decided to move to another dentist. I had taken all of my kids here for 15 years, but recently it seems like the quality of the hygienists has declined. Office staff has always been very helpful (other than sending statements with no detail...). read more

Today was our first visit and it was amazing! The environment is so child friendly- tons of whimsy and fun! The Hygienist was so good with my 4 year old, talking him through everything and engaging him throughout the visit. And the Dentist was the same, and gave him a pep talk to stop sucking his fingers that my son took to heart. He says he's ready now. Up until now my 4 year old had been going with me to my family dentist, which works great for adults but they weren't well suited for kids. He would sit patiently while they would move slowly through the visit and lose his interest, then use adult size tools for x-rays. He hated it. I wanted him to feel positive about the dentist visits. This was so delightful, when we got in the car my 4 year old asked "can we go back there?" I can't say enough good things! I'm scheduling my 2 year old. read more

Doctor Annie is amazing. My son LOVES her! The staff at the dentist is wonderful! They make it fun and easy, not scary. The rooms are all themed, and they get a toy at the end. They've taken great care of my sons teeth and saved his smile. 10/10 recommend. read more

We loved the idea of a pediatric dentist for our child, and Small World made going to the dentist fun, with their themed rooms and prizes at the end of the visit. There were three things, however, that I did not like about Small World: 1. In the five visits that my child had at Small World, I only spoke with the dentist once (the first visit) despite requesting to do so the third, fourth, and fifth time. I inderstand the rationale of parents not being in the room during the cleaning, but I feel that it is unacceptable to NOT be able to ask the dentist questions directly. I am not knocking the hygienists, they are fantastic, but I would have liked to talk to the dentist directly. 2. They consistently messed up the billing and pre-authorizations. Every visit. They were out of our insurance network, but we decided to go there and pay the additional fees because their practice was child-based. I diligently checked in with them three to five weeks prior to appointments so that I could pay on the day of my visit. It was never correct, and I would inevitably get a bill or a credit a month or two following a visit, despite it being a basic check up and cleaning (no xrays or extras). 3. When it came time to consider sealing my child's teeth, I asked questions on three separate occasions - once face to face, once over the phone, and once in writing (with very specific questions). I was given (and mailed) the same brochure the first two times and never received a response to my written questions. We chose to go to another dentist that we came across at a community event. I asked my questions about teeth sealing, and not only received adequate information at that time, but also received a follow up email with research and an article related to my questions. When I called for my child's records to be transferred, I was treated very rudely and it took forever to complete. read more

Love Small World Dentistry! Everyone is always so wonderful. My girls have been going here for years as well as my nephews.

They say it is patient's responsibility to know what service is covered or not covered and the limit of service, but they never remind me to check my insurance for any service they did. Now I have to pay by myself, when I ask for discount, they say no discount for patient who have insurance. read more

I recently moved the the milwaukee area from Chicago and needed to find a dentist for my children. I was excited to see they had a pediatric dentist not too far from where i moved to. During my first experience there I was not happy with Dr. Ricardo Araujo, DDS at all. He was cold, rough on my child and not very informative. I did not want to bring my children back there. My son had an emergency extraction that had to be done and I was forced to return there. This time I met with the other Doctor whose first name is Eileen. She was great with my son and I was happy to make her my childrens dentist. To make a long story short, I did let her know of my previous experience and how I would like her to work on my children and it was fine with her. I just received a letter in the mail from Dr. Ricardo Araujo stating that his practice no longer wants to treat my children. So he kicked me out of the office just because I was not happy with his services and wanted the other doctor to service us. What kind of place is that? I would not recommend taking your kids to him, he is a BAD dentist plus he seems to be the type of person that tells you there are more things wrong in their mouth than there actually is. read more

Feel the same way as Becky B. - we were long time patients and something has changed from their old office to the new one not sure what - focus seems to be off of the children and more money driven - our son was a patients of Dr. Stutter's found out today just 48 hours before his appointment that she is no longer with the practice and our appointment would be with Dr. Nichole! Never received notification about this and our son is on the spectrum for Autism so this surprise at the appointment would have been HUGE more time would have been spent trying to re-assure him that everything was okay and he would not have gotten a complete cleaning. We did however receive the letter indicating that they were no longer going to participate in many dental insurance programs - so yes money driven. We to are looking for a new dentist. read more

When we first started going to this dentist we thought it was great. We saw Dr Araujo and he was great. After the practice took off we were seen by assistants. We were quoted one amount and the bill ended up being more than double. When I called and asked they said that it was not there fault that insurance didn't cover the work they did even though they had it pre-authorized. However, the preauthorization did not include all the extras that they added on. Again, 3 kids went in for a cleaning, and our bill after fillings was over 1500.00 after insurance. No thank you. My daughter had an appt in June and was told she needed a crown and some fillings which would take two appointments to complete so I scheduled the 2 appointments. Yesterday was the 1st appt. After it was done the hygienist said we needed 2 more visits to complete the work. Umm, why did you tell me two when I scheduled them? So now it's two months later and school starts in two weeks. Also, they consistently break HIPPAA by coming out into the waiting room to tell you about your children. read more

We won't be returning. They never bothered to send us the letter about no longer allowing our insurance. Yes, I know it is my responsibility to make sure I have insurance but I guess I assumed they would let me know when we came in for the appt if something had changed. They didn't. So now we have to pay for both of our children's cleanings. The service has never really been good there and now that Dr. Studders left, we won't be back. read more

I recently brought by son in for his routine check up and it was spectacular! The front staff is very friendly as well as the helpers we had this time and in the past. They explain everything in kid terms and perfectly so that I understand tricks for keeping his teeth healthy! This was his 3rd visit and he's almost 2. He cried the first time, understandably, but he had reason since he was in pain for something we went in a little earlier than planned for. Dr. Rick is the best pediatric dentist around!!! I've heard the stories and I will be coming here until my son is too old. I read other reviews and I think some people are a little silly. Chill out people, they are doing the best they can and can't bend over backwards to make sure they know how YOUR insurance works. They are a small business and I know how much work that is. Also, obviously if my son were to have a cavity I would want it fixed asap but I understand how there is a shortage of good pediatric dentists in the area so of course they will be booked out a bit! Just take care of your kids teeth and you should have less stress in the dental field! All in all best dental office in Wisconsin and shame on anyone for saying otherwise! read more
