Had a sweet touch on a Friday night and wanted cake! This cute little spot is snuggled in between a Mexican and Asian restaurant. The inside is so cute and has sooo many options. There was one single boy taking orders and getting the cakes! He was very nice! I got two cupcakes. The strawberry and the yellow cake with chocolate butter cream, a gooey cookie and a regular cookie. It all was under $20! I ate one of the cupcakes when i got home and omg, it was so moist! The moistest cake I'd ever had! The flavors were there!!! I ate the 2nd cupcake the next day and it was still sooo moist! Will def be back for more cakes. I should be ashamed that I come here about every other week for the same cupcakes or cupcake of the day ( I'm not by the way). The employees are friendly and I really enjoy the cupcakes of the day. It's always clean and even towards the end of the day, they usually have a pretty decent selection. They do have smash Friday's ( I believe it's called) where you can get a cupcake with your choice of ice cream "smashed" between the cupcake. I haven't tried that, but it looks really good. They also run specials toward the end of the night, so watch their Facebook page for those posts. I always seem to miss them. I haven't had one bad cupcake or experience. read more

I've been a fan of Small Cakes since the Collierville location first came to town. I've been to Bartlett location on many occasions as well. My recent trip was just as good as the others. The difference was I got to share the enjoyment with a Bartlett resident who didn't know that this was here. We were promptly greeted upon entering. I always look for the featured cupcakes and picked out the brownie cheesecake cupcakes that was fantastic. My friend picked more traditional flavors like strawberry and wedding cake. We took the cupcakes to share with friends. The friends were equally pleased with the selection. I feel fortunate that there's such a great bakery nearby. Keep up the good work! read more

I was so excited to find this place! Cupcakes AND ice cream? AND coffee? There are very few, if any, places that I've been to that offer all those. We tried the ice cream which was outstanding. Bananas Foster was so refreshing and bursting with flavor, and the orange creamsicle tasted like, well, and orange creamsicle! They also offer free samples which was great. The service there was also so good, a lady who worked there was patient while we decided and made sure we knew the menu well without being pushy. And the cupcakes- I got a coconut cream pie and it was delicious!!! But, I have to say, I could only take a couple bites and be done. The icing is SO sweet. I think if I get one again I will just plan to scrape most of it off and still enjoy the cupcake. They really do have unique blends of flavors, they're filled and sometimes have added toppings, so I would put them in the "gourmet" category for sure. But that icing is just kind of ridiculous when it comes to how much sugar is in it. And I love sugar. I know others have mentioned this problem as well, so hopefully they'll make an effort to change a bit. All in all, this place still deserves 5 stars in my book. SmallCakes is my favorite bakery in Oxford (by far). My family has gotten their cupcakes on several occasions. They have their signature flavors that are always available -- plus specialty/seasonal flavors that periodically change. Overall, they have a nice selection. As to taste, the cupcakes have nice, strong flavors (instead of just tasting like sugar). The cake part is moist yet fluffy, and the icing has a very nice texture too. These cupcakes are also on the sweet side. I personally wouldn't mind a little less sugar, but their sweetness level is the same as the other regional bakeries. I have an extreme sweet tooth and I consider myself a dessert connoisseur. So when I heard about this new bakery, I had to find time to go by and check it out. I am a big fan of unique and different. Cake is my favorite of all sweets (with cookies being a close second) but I typically go for flavors outside of the normal spectrum. On this particular day, I tried the Beach Bum- which was made with Corona and lime- and the Sweet Summer Watermelon which had chocolate chips to look like the seeds. I was also told to try the strawberry and got a lemon drop to round out the box. Now what I look for in cupcakes is the actual flavor and taste of the cake. The icing does nothing for me unless it also has a rich homemade taste. Sometimes it can enhance the flavor. The cake was just ok. Not the homemade richness and I was hoping for. And the icing tasted like standard Walmart icing honestly. The Beach Bum was my favorite because it was so creative. I could taste the Corona and lime flavors. It was like eating the cake form of a margarita. I wanted to try the ice cream but had already spent so much on the 4 cupcakes ($14) which seemed a little too pricey for me. Tried this with my wife after lunch one day. The inside is really nice and the product looked great! For me though, it just didn't work. Way, way too sweet on the icing. I know they are desert items, but I could barely eat a quarter of one without feeling sick to my stomach from the over sweetness. The cake portion was nice and moist. Just can't do the icing. We bought a large variety for the family to try different ones, and it was all just too much. The main one I got for me was the peanut butter (I love peanut butter stuff!). Couldn't do more than 2 bites of that icing. Went here Saturday while out in the area because my mom told me about them and I wanted to try it. I got a carrot cake cupcake, strawberry gooey cookies and strawberry cheesecake. The cupcake was excellent and the strawberry cheesecake was as well. The gooey cookie doesn't compare to Frost though. I definitely could've went without them but they weren't terrible, just a little dry compared to Frost. But maybe they'd been sitting awhile, I don't know. Captivating Cupcakes and Creamy homemade Ice Cream As you know, there are several great bakeries around town where you can get Cupcakes these days. Normally I am not one to seek them out, but my wife brought a couple of Small Cakes home a couple of weeks ago and they were great. In fact, she recently took me back to Small Cakes. Oddly enough she wanted to go because they also have homemade ice cream. It turns out that they're actually both quite good. We had planned on getting only one scoop of their ice cream to try it out. Well, you can guess how long that lasted. When we saw that they have a "Smash Cake", we changed our minds. If you find yourself torn between choosing a scrumptious Small Cake or a scoop of their thick, creamy, delicious homemade ice cream - do what we did - get BOTH. First, they cut one of their Small Cakes in half by putting the bottom in a cup with not one but TWO scoops of ice cream in the middle before putting the top half of the Small Cake in the top of the cup. Second, they cover it all up with some whipped cream on top of the rich tasty frosting. Mmmm. By the way, it also costs less than getting 1 Small Cake and 2 scoops of delicious ice cream - and it is all in the same cup! We found the Heath Bar to be very creamy and delicious, but they had many more choices as well. Now, I hope it's not too hard to figure out that this was a wonderful compromise which is best only when experienced firsthand. We ordered our gluten free wedding cake from the Bartlett location. To our disappointment, the cake was dry, the sugar pearls were inedible, and the cream cheese in the middle was spread inconsistently. A nice small local business that has some of the best cupcakes in Bartlett. They also serve excellent ice cream too. There are plenty of good places to get homemade cupcakes in the area, but without driving well outside of Bartlett, this places is by far a favorite place now. Now if your looking for unique flavor combinations they you won't find to many crazy versions here. They tend to have some of your more common flavors, but they do them extremely well so don't let that stop you. Now when it comes to unique flavors this is where the ice cream shines. They have a blue one called Cookie Monster that has various types of cookies (including Oreo) in it that is delicious. They also do a "smash up" where they cut the cupcake in half and put the bottom half in a cup, put ice cream on top and then put the top half on top of the ice cream. If you have a serious sweat tooth and want cake and ice cream together then that's the way to do it. read more
