I've never been to this supermarket prior. It seems to have alot of what one needs, but I did not walk around as much to truly see. Their prices seem pretty decent. One thing that could improve is that the cashiers should greet with a smile and not like look like they hate their job. Today I picked up fresh chopped fruit bowl marked down to $3.79. When I got to the check stand the checker ripped of the sticker and placed it on her cash register. I asked why. She said it was miss marked. I didn't put the price on the fruit I should get what the price says. She was very rude. No wonder there's a CASH ONLY sign. I not going there again. I placed my first car side pick up order here today. I've never done it before but followed the directions on the app and the sign out front. After waiting patiently for 40 minutes I called to check in the status of my order and got attitude from the woman who too my call. She said that I should have called when I arrived and that my order had been sitting there for a while and they don't have people just sitting in the office waiting to get the message that someone's there from the app. Then when she came out she said it again after I explained it was my first time and I was following what the sign and app said to do. The only place it suggests to call is very small on the sign. How about put something larger so customers know it's best to call. I completely understand being understaffed and busy but no need to be rude to a customer for following the instructions given. read more

Straight to the point here... The store is too small, the isles are narrow, and just about every day of the week, there's unpacked boxes of shelf items sitting in an isle waiting to be put on the shelves. Produce: They don't carry a lot of vegetables that other stores like Safeway Winco, etc. Very limited selection. I was looking for Parsnips, they didn't carry them. Most times the veggies look old. Meats: Limited meat selections. The section is small. Service: It's okay - but definitely needs improvement. Some checkers don't seem to understand the term "good customer service". Employees always look slouchy, unkempt, & messy. One young male employee repeatedly comes to work with extremely messy ungroomed wild looking hair, and wrinkly I'll fitting clothes. There's NEVER enough checkers. Checkers should NOT be bagging groceries because it definitely slows the line movement. Often times I'll come in for one or two things, and I end up waiting in line up to 20 minutes. You can NEVER just "run in, grab a few things, pay - and dash out. So don't go there if you're in a hurry cause you won't make in time!! Finally? The Security staff. Their suppose to be making sure things and customers are "secure". Their suppose to watch listen and observe. Not socialize with customers, not collect shopping carts, they shouldn't be helping out in the store, or doing anything except be a Security Guard. There's a tall fat security guard there who's always socializing or on his cellphone texting or looking at TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, etc. Plus...they are seriously obese!!! How are they going to run after a shoplifter if they weigh over 300lbs???!!! They need to expand or relocate to a bigger place to operate. AND....THEY MARK UP PRICES REALLY BAD TOO!!! read more

I was positive I would remember the girl's name who rang up my groceries, because she was soooo incredibly memorable for her outstanding friendly, positive personality, but it's escaping me right now and that's truly a bummer because she deserves sooo much credit for making EVERYONE in line smile before taking their groceries to leave. She was smiling and cracking funny comments and wishing people a blessed day and she totally just lifted my spirit from the inside out. I had only run in to grab some food for my house rabbit, but was checking out with an armful of dill, parsley, and some other greens, plus Comet because I happened to see it on my way to the register, and an oversized bottle of liquid smoke. Wow! A price hike? Items I used to pay 24$ for are now 33$ and a jug of cooking oil that used to cost 24.99$ is now 41.99$ and nothing ever stays stocked on this store even butter. Seems like inventory is only delivered once per week, which tells me they don't really care about happy customers as much as they cate about selling out of items. There is plenty of parking here. The carts were fully stocked. It's not a huge store but it's a decent size. There was some things that were a really good deal. I judged this store before I gave it a chance. The staff here has great customer service and extremely helpful. They had family size items for a great price. I would definitely return. read more

Not a bad little store. What I like about this store is that it's close to where I live so I can be in there within 5 minutes, grab what I need, pay, and leave. It may not be a huge store like other places but as long as it has what I need there shouldn't be any problems. Reason for the 3 stars? Well unfortunately the store is located in an interesting section of Antioch where the mall (a.k.a The Ghost Town) is. Plus, I have had the misfortune of purchasing items based on what *I* personally thought the pricing was. For example, I once bought a huge thing of Ground Beef that I initially thought was about $3, it turned out to be $35 (I mean it wasn't a TOTAL waste as we had a supply of Ground Beef for about a month or so, but $35 for some meat is WAY too expensive). Plus, I did notice that they had to lock up certain items due to theft (which isn't surprising but I mean at least it's up front so if you need something from the lock case you can just ask the person upfront for assistance instead of pressing a button and waiting for someone to come). I understand the need to lock up the baby formula and laundry detergent but do people really steal candy bars and instant coffee mix? That was something I got confused about. Today I visited the store in the Antioch/ Pittsburg area for a few items ( which I found perfectly ) . I make it up to register #1 when I noticed the nice young lady who always make my day on register #1 (miss Kiki) she was moving fast checking and bagging as she goes like always . Very nice girl . Behind her it was two girls laughing and talking one checking (Angel) and the other girl (Taylor) bagging for her . Which was unbelievable because the line was all the way to there meat department and here you have this girl on register one trying to take control of the line , while these two girls chat and giggle with each other . That wasn't fair at all management needs to buckle down on some of those girls in that store . Someone need to retrain some of the team members. read more

Located in the old Marshall's store, this Smart & Final is a great addition to the steadily declining Somersville Towne Center. They opened just last week and still have that new store smell. The selections are plentiful -- be it meat, produce, dairy, liquor, and any other grocery you would want. On top of regular groceries, they also have bulk sizes so it is cheaper in the long run, although Costco products are still slightly cheaper. However, they have weekly specials. At the time of writing this (May 23, 2015), their spareribs are $1.99/lb where I just paid $3.89/lb at Costco a few minutes before this stop. They also have Mexican spices and other offerings so that is a plus. So far they are well-organized and well-stocked. The staff are friendly and helpful. They will be my first stop before heading to Costco from here on out. read more

I am some what of a regular shopper there. My husband and I went in since Costco was closed today. Unfortunately today was horrible! The store was poorly staffed. Only one cashier and it was a manager, Lisa. The line was LONG! It went all the way down the aisle, almost reached the back of the store. She said the previous cashier had to leave because she was on overtime, and the other cashier didn't show? No one else from another department is trained? And where are all the other managers? The whole time we were shopping we only saw one lady on the floor and the cashier. I have to say even though some customers gave her grief, even though it's not her fault, she seemed to keep her composure under all the stress! read more

I ordered from insta-Cart and while the problem originally started with Insta-cart not delivering to right address, let me tell you what poor customer service and character came from Smart and Final. I order and shop for ALL of my groceries there, I will never again. I called them to let them know I didn't get my groceries, the lady tells me oh the guy that got your groceries called he has them! So I asked if I can get the phone number of the person, she said no it's not their problem. That is really sad and poor customer service, being that I buy 150 in groceries a week there, how about you times that by 52 weeks! I live close to this location and have shopped here in the past. While prices are not as good as some other places they are decent. Customer service has not been a real problem either. My main hardship with this location is their awful WiFi. I do Shipt shopping and that means that while I'm shopping someone's order I need to be able to text them, send photos or sometimes call them. In order to do this at this location I have to go to the front doors and stand there to have my conversation and then finally run back to the spot where the product is. Back and forth the whole shopping trip. It's very inconvenient and prevents me from accepting more shops at this store. I have spoken to other people that do Shipt and instacart and they said the same thing, the bad service makes them not want to accept shopping orders at the store. I don't know if this can be addressed but it would definitely be beneficial to their financial bottom line to fix this. 5/7/2017- I had to update today that Sarah is a total sweetheart! She always says hello and is super helpful. I really enjoy going to this location. The staff is really sweet. This is for Jennifer (Sunday 330 pm) - I go into this store every weekend. I had a full cart like always but the last lane I usually go to check out was closed. I was so caught up in looking for a light that was on I didn't realize I was in 10 items or less. I began to unload my groceries and this mean old man starts yelling at me about how the line is 10 items or less in front of everyone . Embarrassed I apologize and offer to take my items off and go to another line. Jennifer was very calm and sweet and began to ring me. She reassured me it was fine and that another checker was coming to take the people behind me. She was sweet and didn't further embarrass me. Love this location. We can finish our workout at 24 Hr. Fitness and stop in at the always well-stocked Smart & Final to pick up our groceries for the week. They always seem to have the freshest fruits & veggies and ya gotta check out the blueberries. I don't know who supplies them but they're always plump & juicy! And if you like double-yolk'd eggs pick up a flat of their Jumbo eggs! They have reasonable prices and I've yet to not find what I've been looking for...from A to Z and everything in between! Horrible experience. My wife and I just went here to quickly grab some chicken and my 3 years old son, which I should mention has autism, saw some cookies and started throwing a tantrum. Please be aware that they don't replace expired food items!!! This is about the fourth time now I've been to this store and noticed an item on the shelf that was expired by a few months. Also in the dairy section!!!! That is absolutely dangerous and someone could get really sick. I just bought some strawberry jam a couple of weeks ago and I just noticed it says it expired 12/17/20!!! That's more than 6 months ago!!! You guys need to really pay attention to this and start getting rid of old expired items in your store. I'm surprised no one has complained about this yet. People want to buy fresh food when they go to the grocery store, not expired food. I have noticed this to be a pattern with their organic produce as well. It's always moldy. I had to throw away 4 avocados the very next day because they were rotten inside. They looked perfectly normal on the outside. This store is not managed well. There are often no shopping carts in the corral right outside the store. The employees are rude, especially the manager who is quick to mean mug and has never said "thanks" or even greeted us. The only thing that keeps me coming here are the prices and selection, but the rude staff has me checking Grocery Outlet first for items so I can try to avoid this store. Large, spacious store. Doesnt make me feel claustrophobic like i do at the Pittsburg WalMart. Alot to choose from, smaller poultry and beef selection but I'm sure it'll grow in short time. Frozen section meets my standards and the convenience of having a Rotisserie chicken PRN is awesome on nights i dont feel like cooking. I went to this store feeling under the weather (I wouldn't have gone at all, but I really needed to pick up a few items). I got to the register and was greeted. When the cashier was done ringing up my items, she told me there were no bags and I would have to buy a couple of the $1 reusable ones. Which would have been no problem, but I saw bags at the other registers. Not sure why she would lie about not having bags.... then when I asked for the bags from the other registers, she became very rude and initially said no because "those bags were for other registers". Eventually she tossed the bags she was going to charge me for (again, not sure why she had an attitude or was being so rude) and provided me with regular plastic bags. Will not go here again. This is the first time I went to this Antioch Smart & Final. I used to go to the one in pleasant hill and after a unfriendly encounter w/the staff, I did not go to any Smart & Final until today. And the result, it is another big disappointment. I found a item on sale and and discovered the price was not reflected the cost, I was overpaid. I informed the cashier and she asked another staff (is she a manager?) to run and double checked the price. I kept waiting (it was pretty cold this morning) and waiting, that staff supposed to help me, running around to help other customer. So I tried to remind her and all she said was "wait". My spouse was low of sugar that she needed to eat (health condition) right away. We cannot waited so long so we left and went to get our meal.
