    Clean and neat store.

Mark and Charmagne provided fast friendly customer service! This was my first time shopping at this Smart & Final. I needed help finding the right coffee lids. Charmagne called for assistance and in less than 10 seconds Mark came dashing down the isle to help me. He went above and beyond to show me where things are located and how to use the Smart & Final website. The line had 3-4 customers but moved fast because Charmagne was fast and efficient. My wait time was less than 5 minutes. This store is the farthest for my shopping needs but I will go the extra miles because of great customer services by Mark and Charmagne.

Just leaving a nice review to let everyone know you can find cheap tropical plants here!! I usually go to Trader Joe's or a hardware store for plants but if you are looking to gift someone with something nice and don't know what to buy then get a big green plant. Guaranteed it will brighten up that persons day. Even if they are not a plant person, gifting a live plant will eventually make them one.

This is used to be a hit or miss place in the past. I have some really bad experience a few years back. And I used to avoid this place after that. I resumed shopping here, may be in the beginning of 2020. And ever since it's always nice shopping experience. They have made some rearrangements. Also the checkout experience has been changed as well. It's more than a typical convenience store but not as big as a Costco warehouse. If you are looking for larger quantities for grocery items, this is a right place. They have a good meat, bakery and diary sections. They always have a few items on sale in bakery section - check it out. Apart from the groceries, they have other Home and other supplies sections. I always found some of the items cheaper than the other grocery outlets around, especially the detergent and other fabric care products. Check out for the offers. They have made improvements to the check out. But the time for checkout can be still time consuming. That's one of the biggest issues there. Some times they open only a single checkout counter. I remember they were keeping 3-4 counters during the early days of pandemic to control the crowd. Not sure whether they are under-staffed, but they have to do something about this. But the staffs are friendly and helpful. Parking is always an issue in this shopping complex. Finding a parking near to the store is always difficult. Nevertheless a decent place for grocery shopping.

After shopping here on a 2 to 3 time basis every week for the last five years and bringing my dog in the cart with her dog shopping cart car seat and I was told that she could not be in the cart after me going here five years with the same dog so I said OK no problem I'll take my dog, you keep the groceries. Stupid woman cost the company a faithful regular, which pays her salary, had to open her fat trap and turn off a valuable customer. There was a lot in the cart and I still had 3 more aisles to go and I spend no less than $600 a month here, one person, 1 dog. That's most of my disability check that I was spending in here!! I will never ever step foot in the store again because of a rude unprofessional person with no care or compassion. I'm disabled, I survived a stroke! This is my ESA dog; she goes everywhere with me, even on airplanes, and no other store has ever asked me to take my dog out of the cart. Filthy stinking babies sit in those seats! I'm darn sure my dog is 100x cleaner than a baby in a diaper full of crap! So screw you, SMART & FINAL, you lost a very valuable customer. I will order my candy items online on Amazon now, give them the money, not you. I will shop at Safeway for my fresh groceries from now on. They have never said to take my dog out of the cart! Or use Amazon Fresh. Plus you get GAS REWARDS at Safeway and the same or better prices and much better food! You screwed over a really good customer, so screw you and that stupid clerk in the candy aisle who told me I couldn't have my dog, fire her! I wrote this immediately upon exiting the store. You can see her on video, I'm sure. Since Tracy and David are gone, the store has gone downhill anyway. Never returning.

    Smart and final before entering.

I was shopping and being a person of color with my hood on and mask, the security easily thought I was trying to steal. I would not stoop that low but I felt racially profiled as I was the only Latino in the store. Smart & Final, tell whoever your security is working right now at 5 PM to treat customers with respect. After the store clerks said that "everything was all right" I was getting stared at by the security guard as I was leaving. Not planning on returning to this location because of this. To my fellow historically marginalized communities (Latinx, Black, etc) PLEASE BEWARE!

Great place to shop for groceries. They have decent prices and good options. The service is generally better than most grocery stores which is plus. Waiting lines can get long at times but they do go by quickly. I love how the register lanes are named after streets in Fremont. One downside is the parking as it can be a huge problem finding a parking space during peek hours. Overall a decent 4 star experience.

    Yay!

Checked out Smart & Final after my Indian dinner. It's like a regular grocery store, but aisles are big & prices seem ok. I found Wasabi & Soy Sauce Blue Diamond Almonds on sale $3.89 a small can, bought 6 cans. My friend said Walmart has them too, but I didn't go there so maybe I paid too much, don't know. Found out Amazon has them cheaper! Wahhh wahhh waaahhhh! Charged it. They have strong plastic bags you can buy for 10c, I didn't buy a bag.

    Quick and friendly checkout lanes.

It's a very popular plaza with lots of restaurants and businesses, so parking can get pretty hectic. We scheduled our pickup for 3pm and learned that if you pick up at 3 or after, you have to go to the cashier because the sushi prep employees are already gone. Getting them from the cashier was a little more complicated. Next time, we'll schedule an earlier pickup. if you have some flexibility on what you buy and don't want to pre-order, you can show up around 4 or 5pm, when sushi items get discounted by 20%.

I have come for the ribs deal in the past but every time, they have either run out or what's left is big strips of fat on bones. I came to the meat department and was 2nd in line for the butcher. The first person was waiting for the butcher to finish slicing the flanken ribs so she could choose the packages she wanted. Once the butcher finished and put the ribs in the open fridge, she chose what she wanted and left the rest that had little meat and mostly fat. I decided to go back to the butcher and wait when shortly after, an employee approached me with the name tag "Noel". He asked if I needed help and I told him I was waiting for the butcher so I could ask them to slice up some more ribs. Noel looked at where the leftover ribs were and had a condescending tone and said to me, "there are no more in the fridge?" I explained that I was waiting for the butcher to come back because I didn't want just fat and bones. He snarkily said "They all have fat, they are chuck, what do you expect? Well, they are at lunch, you will have to wait a while". I had my 4 year old daughter with me and I said "I have time, I will wait". He then went on to do whatever work he needed to do, checking temps of the frozen section and fridges with a thermometer while I waited there. He went to the back and I could hear him talking about me to the butcher and I could hear his abhorrent tone about me waiting for a better quality cut. 10 min later he goes to the meat rack in the back and uses the meat wrapping machine to wrap some more ribs that were already cut and in trays. He puts them on a tray and puts the tray on the butcher window and condescendingly repeats himself "They all have fat, they are chuck." I wanted to tell him about my experience in the past and that since I had time today I didn't mind waiting, but my 4 year old was there and I just wanted to pick up the groceries and take her home. As I was picking the ones I wanted, he again gave me attitude and said "You know it's 2 max as the limit." I said "Ok, I got it.", He said with an angry face "What?" So I said it louder, "Yes, I got it". Little did he know, my wife also has an account so I used her number since she was at work and was unable to be present. But I didn't feel like he was worthy of an explanation to begin with. I had to bite my tongue multiple times while he made sarcastic, snarky, condescending comments to me, and about me to his butcher, then at me again. If I didn't have my daughter with me, I would have been more vocal, but in this situation I decided to put my complaint online. In summary, I am local and I used to frequent this grocery store, but after Noel's demeanor, I will not be coming back. I will take my business elsewhere and will recommend my friends to not come to this location. If Noel is at a job to provide service to the public, he shouldn't be. He should be an overnight stocker where he doesn't deal with people because he has no people skills. His sarcastic remarks and condescension was behavior that I was taken aback by, and it was the first time that I EVER had this type of experience in a grocery store, and I'm 42 years old. I will be posting this on Google and Yelp as well. I'm sure he will see this post and hopefully he can rethink about his behavior and learn from it, and be better because of it.

Raley's, a shrinking brand here in this part of the bay, still holds a large footprint in downtown Fremont. Benefiting from the big parking lot shared by many eateries, cafes, and specialty stores and entertainment, the grocery chain welcomes many to its storefront and keeps them coming back with their weekly deals. Some of the parking spots are tight but there are spaces all around the shopping center if you're willing to walk. But once you're settled, head on inside and be prepared to shop! Be sure to join their free membership to maximize savings (aside from their weekly deals, they have some specials on Mondays and during holidays). A jarring sight, however, is the security officer standing watch at the front entrance which makes you wonder if their presence is due to a necessity or simply a security protocol for deterring that necessity. From all the visits I've made, the security personnel are just as friendly as the store's staff who are frequently traversing through sections to restock, check inventory, and help customers. As you continue walking in, you'll pass the dining space and prepared food section where you'll find fried foods, stirfrys and soups sitting in warmers. Nearby food stations also host a good collection of more freshly prepared foods and a deli for sandwiches. The prices can be decent with their added discounts at times, but I've yet to be hungry enough to try. The biggest impression for me at this store is their dedicated produce section. Organics as well as fruits and vegetables of the season are in full display, vibrant in color and heaped in abundance. Some of their more perishable produce may be found in the chilled cases on the side. In addition, I'm a big fan of their seafood and meats section as the staff behind the counter are friendly and helpful. The selection can be minimal during peak times but the quality seems to be pretty good for the value. Their bread, cereal, and coffee sections are also well stocked and we've also been able to find some solid pumpernickel bread as well as Dutch crunch French bread. After perusing the store and piling your cart, you'll head to the registers, however in all my visits so far, we have been able to use the self checkout which, for the most part, has been a good experience. The staff float around and are helpful in the event that an item needs to be cancelled or a SKU needs to be looked up. A few areas of improvement would include their water fountains by the bathrooms which haven't worked in our visits and general bathroom upkeep. Overall, Raley's does a great job welcoming folks near and far to their well stocked store, serving fresh and on-sale items. The store is organized and frequently refreshed with new stock by their band of employees roaming the aisles with smiles. You'll also find that patrons here are quite friendly - almost a neighborly feel to it. If you're in the area and need a quick bite or a pantry run, Raley's has what you need and for a good price, too!
