This place is really shady. Too many things on shelves- cluttered. The freezers are nasty- there is frost bite on the meat. The owner sweet talks you but you can see through that immediately. Came here for a lamb shank, and they did deliver. The butchery is a bit rough, and the shank piece was a bit too large, but it was tasty. They do need to work on the hygiene a bit, as they packed up the whole shank raw in a plastic bag and gave it to me to take home in my car. The bone was sticking out of the bag. At least wrap the whole thing in butcher paper and tape it shut, just some professionalism. Still a good shank though and it's nice the store has so many other items too. I don't really review markets but felt the need to with Khorasan. We went shopping for lamb chops for a BBQ this weekend and, since I have family that is Muslim, I needed halal chops. I've heard good things about Khorasan so decided to check it out. They have an abundance of meats, marinades and other items you may need. We only needed the chops. We ordered 10 pounds and watched as the butcher pulled a whole lamb from the freezer and expertly cut out the ribs and sliced them into the perfect pieces. We are extremely excited to BBQ these chops and can't wait to see how they taste. 10/10 will come back next time we need halal meats. read more

Yesterday was my first time in and the other reviews regarding fresh meat, friendly owners, and their huge afghan naan's were all true. For reference about their naan's, I had my 5'2 sister hold it up, it was quite literally half her body, as well as much softer and fluffier than others I've had. I think the naan is first come first serve because there was still a handful of them and I arrived at 5pm, but it was also raining so it's understandable that lots of people didn't want to venture out. After asking, everyone in there helped me find what I needed swiftly and even had a brief conversation about our cultures. The butcher also gave me pretty good cuts of lamb and lamb fat. He was sanitary, using gloves/ changing gloves throughout the process, especially when handling my naan, by guiding it directly into a bag instead of holding it. My family usually frequents the nearby Maiwand for halal meat, but since they were out, we decided to try Khorasan. What a lucky day for us! We were looking to buy beef and bones for nihari curry, and the man at the front instantly knew which meat we needed (beef shank). He was very friendly without being pushy or imposing, and we felt no pressure as we explored the rest of the little store. There's no fresh produce, but there are plenty of pickles, spice mixes, teas, etc. in addition to the halal meats. We ended up going home with a mutton biryani spice mix, 2 baklava pieces for tea, and a MASSIVE piece of Afghan bread. I'm talking bread easily more than 2 feet long and nearly the size of my large coffee table. The whole drive back, the small of freshly baked Afghan bread made our car smell amazing. (If I could have that smell as an air freshener, I would) And the best part? All that bread for less than $2! When we got home, I was happy to see that the beef shank was very cleanly cut, with no excess blood or ligament. The pieces had a great meat to bone ratio. Most importantly, it may be the most tender meat I've ever marinated! Overall, a wonderful little Afghan market, especially for halal meat. A great place for fresh goat meat at reasonable price. This is my second time here for goat meat. The last time I bought the meat was fresh and the meat had real meat not all bones. Price is $6.99/lb which is reasonable. You could also request them to cut the meat in any size you want. The meat is thawed so it is not like a brick heavy. Buying frozen meat in lbs is not a good deal as the frozen water add weight and u are paying for that too. This review is for goat meat only. Haven't tried their other items. Stopped in to buy bread and pickled Arabic vegetables. The guy rummaged through his whole stack of pre-made bread, picked out the most burnt and hard loaves, handed them to me. I told him it's hard and asked for soft bread - he said he doesn't have any! What an idiot. Doesn't he know there are a dozen Afghan markets making fresh bread in the area?! It was my first time buying meat from this market - and I'm a total fan! This will be my new favorite meat market. The prices are much CHEAPER than other halal food markets but quality is good, if not better. The only issue with the place is that it's so compacted that it's claustrophobic to get around. The ground beef is amazing! Other markets have ground beef but I never buy it because they tend to put so much fat content. I usually just have them give me a beef cut and have it ground in front of me. When I was going to do that here, the butcher advised me against it and told me to just "try" theirs. So I did. When I cooked it today it turned out so AMAZING that my husband was asking for seconds. The fat and meat content was perfect. I was told that their deli cuts are good too, but I have yet to try them. I've passed by Khorasan Market so many times, but didn't really need to go in until recently. The boy&I wanted to get some Afghan bread for his dad's 50th birthday party, and I knew that Khorasan Market sold Afghan bread [I mean, it's advertised on their building], so I suggested we go here [so this review is solely on the bread]. The guys working there are friendly enough, and we ended up getting 6 pieces of Afghan bread at $1.75 a piece [there's a $10 minimum card charge, and we had no cash]. Each piece of bread is HUUUUUGE. No joke. Each piece is as long as my legs [about 2 1/2-3 feet long?]. And sooooo good. It goes with everything! Everybody loved it, and the bread was almost entirely gone by the end of the night.
