raw meat on a metal tray

We drive every time from San Ramon to this store to get our meat, poultry and bread. We appreciate the quality and polite service they provide for my family and I. What I like best is when my mother is happy with the great quality meat I bring home from Mr. Wahids store. That's the confident winner!

What a gem! Afghan market that provides above and beyond customer service. Truly taking care of the people in the community. Unbelievable for their hospitality and generosity.

Worst place ever. They make you wait for 30 min and come back to tell you they forgot the order. I think people only come here because of halaal meat. This place is dirty and people don't care about hygiene at all. I am never coming here again.

Yesterday was my first time in and the other reviews regarding fresh meat, friendly owners, and their huge afghan naan's were all true. For reference about their naan's, I had my 5'2 sister hold it up, it was quite literally half her body, as well as much softer and fluffier than others I've had. I think the naan is first come first serve because there was still a handful of them and I arrived at 5pm, but it was also raining so it's understandable that lots of people didn't want to venture out. After asking, everyone in there helped me find what I needed swiftly and even had a brief conversation about our cultures. The butcher also gave me pretty good cuts of lamb and lamb fat. He was sanitary, using gloves/ changing gloves throughout the process, especially when handling my naan, by guiding it directly into a bag instead of holding it. If you always pass by and are curious like I was, I highly encourage it! And tell them a little viet girl sent you

Bread nearly as big as our coffee table, for under $2!

My family usually frequents the nearby Maiwand for halal meat, but since they were out, we decided to try Khorasan. What a lucky day for us! We were looking to buy beef and bones for nihari curry, and the man at the front instantly knew which meat we needed (beef shank). He was very friendly without being pushy or imposing, and we felt no pressure as we explored the rest of the little store. There's no fresh produce, but there are plenty of pickles, spice mixes, teas, etc. in addition to the halal meats. We ended up going home with a mutton biryani spice mix, 2 baklava pieces for tea, and a MASSIVE piece of Afghan bread. I'm talking bread easily more than 2 feet long and nearly the size of my large coffee table. The whole drive back, the small of freshly baked Afghan bread made our car smell amazing. (If I could have that smell as an air freshener, I would) And the best part? All that bread for less than $2! When we got home, I was happy to see that the beef shank was very cleanly cut, with no excess blood or ligament. The pieces had a great meat to bone ratio. Most importantly, it may be the most tender meat I've ever marinated! Overall, a wonderful little Afghan market, especially for halal meat. I appreciate the friendly neighborhood service and can't wait to come back and try the fresh goat meat.

We came in on Saturday at 11:30 to an empty restaurant, but by noon it was packed. We ordered the mantu, bolani, a few kabobs, and the lamb shank challow. The appetizers were great - the mantu had a great flavor and felt very hearty. The leek and butternut squash felt homey and warm - our waitress said they were her favorite, and were so glad she gave us that recommendation! The leek paired nicely with the yogurt provided, as it was a little spicy and had an aroma pretty similar to chives. The squash bolani was slightly sweet, and almost felt like an in-between for dessert. Having both was a nice contrast. By far the murgh (chicken) kabob was our favorite skewer, as it was the juiciest meat, and quite tender. The table ranked the chaplee (ground meat, with a hint of spice) next in terms of flavor and texture, and teka (tri tip) was slightly more dry and bland compared to everything else. The lamb shank was quite tender but smaller than expected for the price; it still had a nice homey flavor though I prefer when restaurants provide more of that braised juice to go alongside the dish. I don't eat cilantro, so had requested there to be no cilantro in any dishes, but they said they couldn't remove it from the salad, so was a little sad about that. We also had to request for Overall, would highly recommend the chicken kabob and bolani - would love to come and try other appetizers too.

The restaurant is small but enough room for few families. The owner and staff are really nice, they offered us a complementary butternut sauash bolani for us to try when we normally take potato bolani. We got variety of dishes like chicken/chapli, beef/chicken, beef/chapli etc. we were happy to see salaam Cola instead of coke/pepsi etc. the bolani was amazing and very fresh and crispy which is nicer than a softer texture. The rice came brown seasoned, but it was a bit lighter in color and flavor, would suggest try to make it more seasoned/heavier on flavor. The chapli was really good and had a peshawri like taste and texture. The chicken today pieces were large in size and color was just right. For some reason the chicken flavor didnt get all the way through. The ambiance was nice and it is a good addition to fremonts Afghan restaurants

This time, my camera ate before I did, ha! Here is a breakdown of what we ordered on this visit: 1. Steamed Chicken Momo: These were perfectly moist with an adequate, well-seasoned filling. Plus, their signature orange sauce never disappoints! 2. Mixed Fried Rice: This came loaded with eggs, chicken, and veggies. Unlike some places where the veggies feel like an afterthought, these tasted fresh. The portion size was great, flavorful and more than enough for two people. 3. Chicken Sizzler: There is nothing like hearing that loud sizzling sound when food is brought to your table! I initially expected it to come with fries and veggies, so I was pleasantly surprised to see it served on top of a huge bed of noodles. It was incredibly tasty. My only minor critique is that the menu just lists the name of the dish without a description. While I could have asked, it would be helpful if the menu explained what the sizzler entails, especially since their other menu items have descriptions. The Perks & Ambiance: Free Tea: A wonderful touch! They offer free, unlimited aromatic hot tea for dine-in customers, served in cute little espresso cups. Service & Seating: There is plenty of seating available. The service is prompt, though you might occasionally need to wave them over to get their attention, but it's definitely not a dealbreaker. Parking & Access Tip: There is ample parking in the complex, but getting to it can be a bit tricky right now due to the ongoing roadwork on Fremont Blvd. From the street, it almost looks like the restaurants in this plaza might be closed, but don't be fooled; they are absolutely up, running, and well worth the visit!

This is clearly something the owner does because a few reviews below someone else mentioned her review was flagged and taken down. THE OWNER/MANAGER IS NOT A HONEST PERSON. The owner of this establishment contacted Yelp to remove my original review, claiming my experience was not legitimate. I am reposting my review with screenshots showing that | placed an online pickup order and visited the restaurant. The photos are timestamped from 2/3/2026. Transparency matters, and attempting to discredit a real customer experience instead of addressing it reflects poorly on the business. Flagged Content: Order: Chicken Shawarma Plate Total: $17.55 Location: 217 W Winton Ave, Haywara, CA 94544 I am extremely disappointed with this purchase. The food was not good at all. The chicken was clearly not fresh--it tasted old and seemed like it had been reheated in the microwave, possibly from a day or two earlier. The side dish with garbanzo beans also tasted old. The pita bread was cold and not even warmed, which shows a lack of care. The service was just as bad. When I arrived, the front door was locked even though the restaurant states it opens at 11:00 AM. I arrived around 12:35 PM. A gentleman eventually came to open the door. When I told him my name and that I was there for a pickup order, he seemed completely confused. A young lady then stepped in and asked about my order, and I had to show her proof that I placed it online. Apparently, my order was not in their system despite my confirmation. She told me my food would be ready in three minutes. I was on my lunch break, and there was no apology for the door being locked or for my order not being ready. I ordered ahead specifically because I was on a time limit. The fact that it was ready in "three minutes" made it very clear that the food was reheated rather than freshly made. The ambiance was also unpleasant. The restaurant has large chandeliers trying to appear elegant, but it doesn't work. Chairs were stacked on top of tables, so dining in wasn't even an option. There was also a strong smell of floor cleaner throughout the restaurant, as if they were trying to cover up another odor. Overall, I do not recommend this place. The food quality, service, and overall experience were very disappointing. This was a waste of money. I ended up throwing the food away because I was worried about food poisoning and didn't have time to return it since I was on my lunch break. I will not be coming back.
