Well I do like Smart and Final BUT I will NEVER go to this store again . Drove a distance to buy a rib roast and was told "they will be put out later" after explaining I drove a long way and was there a chance I could get one now was told "well thats too bad you will have to come back later today " I drove a bit more to the Petaluma store and was met by a member there where I asked about the rib roasts and he said "What size, I can go back and get it for you" got my 10 Lb roast and was on my way. Just left Smart & Final and may never go back! I went in for a few baking ingredients that I can get in larger sizes. While I was there I noticed other items that had digital coupons attached so I registered and account and clipped them. At check out the terminal didn't ask for a phone number at the beginning so I thought it would at the end. Nope, while I was bagging my groceries the cashier pushed everything through on my side of the terminal. She tells me the total and of course it has already been pushed through by her. I asked at what point does it ask for my phone number to apply the coupons. The cashier, Aday says you have to tell me your number. NO, your machine should ask or you should! And when I said something to her there was no I'm so sorry or I can get a manager. I only bought some additional things because I clipped the coupon. Horrible customer service! read more

Made an online order 03/16/2025. I waited in my car for over 30 minutes. I had to go inside to find the cart of my order just sitting out. I had things such as cheese and heavy cream just sitting out for 30 minutes. The associate just says "oh there you go" as if it's no big deal. read more

I prefer the selection of To-go and picnic supplies over other stores options. They are also the only stores around that carry Churros' in the freezer section that are super quick to make. If at all possible do not go on a weekend it is horribly busy and the clerks are very over worked. Getting back to staffing normals would do wonders for having good times to shop all the time. If you must on a weekend go before 9am. Sometimes the produce is slim pickings when it's a new sale because everyone loves stocking up on veggies/fruit. Although the meat department is somewhat small compared to over grocers they have a good selection of small and large cuts. The only reason one star off is because by the time I get to the cashier they all have seemed over worked/stressed and just trying to make it through the day. read more

I like this spot for picking up a few items here and there they have a great selection of bulk items and a good selection of fruits and vegetables but the real reason I shop here is because of Cameron, she gives the best customer service, she is kind and always goes out of her way to be super helpful. This Smart & Final Extra store used to be my home base for non Costco runs. While it delivers what you need for food, drinks, and booze, it falls well short in cleanliness and organization. First off, re stocking is done at odd times, I would think most takes place before opening or after closing. Not the case here, I've seen them restocking two hours after opening from the previous day customer rush. This made it difficult for me since I used to make 7:00 AM runs before work to grab items, but found most were still out of stock. Secondly, their restroom is terrible, so please be aware if you need to use it for anything, but outside of that I really felt like the store lacked general cleanliness. While yes, you can still get what you need for a great price in bulk, I just now try to avoid this location and hit another store nearby in another city. read more

It's okay. It's a warehouse store, so you won't have world class customer service, but I believe that the staff works hard and means well. They've been stocking more organic products, so that's a plus. I liked their bulk bins... until the most recent trip in March, 2020. I bought 4 pounds of bulk brown rice and came home with rice weevils. Had to throw it all away. No more bins for me. As of this writing, the world is falling apart, so I do appreciate the staff at this store for doing what they can for the community by coming to work each day. read more

Not the grocery store I go to most often (I live a little closer to Trader Joe's), but I had a fantastic service experience today that deserves to be called out. I ran to this store at around 9:55 (they close at 10) to grab a few items, and left quickly. I was almost home before realizing I had left my phone at the store. I ran back and tried to find it to no avail, but Pedro, who was there last night, told me to go home and try using the "find my phone" feature. I went home and tried it, then went back to the store about half an hour (almost 45 minutes after closing). Pedro had found my phone and kept it safe for me! It would have been easy for them to tell me to go home and come back tomorrow, but the effort Pedro and the other staff put in helped me to find peace of mind in what could have been a very stressful situation. Horrible customer service from manager, rude and condescending. Do not honor their sales price. Wrote to store to complain and no response, wrote 3 times. Filed a compliant with BBB and again, no response. Next, I will file a compliant with County Weights and Measures. They have been cracking down on stores here, advertising one price and not honoring it. Mgr was incapable of doing basic math when I wanted a refund. Kept playing games and doing funny stuff. Refunds were not correct. She then told me the difference was the sales tax. First, food does not have sales tax, and 2nd, since she could not give me the correct refund on the items they refused to honor the price on, I said refund the entire order. She could not get that right. If you are returning something, you don't pay the sales tax, that is returned also. Finally had to tell the rude mgr, take the total, deduct the two refunds you already gave and the remainder is the amount of refund you still owe me. OMG, and she is a mgr!!! If I was not watching what she was doing, she would have ripped me off. Really wondering if that was her intent, as her till would not have balanced at end of day, and she could have pocketed the difference. I used to go here all the time, for many years, and since this happened in August have not been back. Never a response from the company. They do not care, they do not honor their advertised prices. Smart and Final is similar to a Food Max with a Costco bulk twist. The store is absolutely huge. They just added a bulk section. And the bulk section has Organics. Super huge plus. This typically is a place I will run to if I need something quick in a pinch like mayonnaise. But this is also the place to come if you need tapatio or mayonnaise is a gallon. This place is serious bulk! The store is very brightly lit. The parking lot is big. They have super late hours. You can beat their prices. I would however, be sure and check the expiration dates on everything!!!!! Especially meat and dairy. I need bacon quickly for a bbq. I ran down there. And I am glad I checked the date because not only was that package expired, they WERE ALL EXPIRED by about a week. read more

So apparently he only helps VIP customers he knows. That is such BS! I'm so furious I wanted to tell the manager immediately but I'm sure he is the rude incompetent person training these horrid customer service employees. I was taking a group of youth to Bodega Bay for a Self Care retreat. I am a faithful Smart and Final customer, so I located the nearest one on our way. We had two full baskets of plenty of food and snacks for our weekend trip. We get to the register to ring up our groceries and the cashier named Chris continued to let our items pile up without attempting to bag up our groceries. One of my youth asked me "Should I start bagging up our things? and I asked the cashier would he start bagging up the groceries so we can load up the carts and make room for the rest of our items. The cashier rolled his eyes and said "Well, can't she just bag up the groceries instead because I am almost done with my shift." I was shocked at his unprofessional and rude response. I replied "No, it is not appropriate you to ask my youth to bag groceries because you are about to end your shift, are you serious? Would you bag up our groceries, so we can clear up space for the rest of our groceries?" He proceeds to roll his eyes and say well, why can't you and her bag your groceries? There's a lot of groceries and I almost going to clock out." The tone and the arrogance from this individual was absolutely out of bounds and I never experienced this level of service, especially from Smart and Final. I replied "No." Next, he calls over the the store lead named Josie and shared with her about my unwillingness to bag the groceries and not once mentioning the service he just administered to me and my youth who were visibly upset by the treatment we were receiving. I excuse them to the car assuming the lead was going to address the situation. She completely ignored me and did not attempt to speak to me or acknowledge my presence at all. I attempted to share what happened and that the cashier is refusing to bag my groceries because of his shift being almost over. Her response in a harsh tone "We bag groceries as a courtesy, we don't have to do it all." She walked away in a huff and rolled her eyes as she walked off. I was mortified. I have never felt so disrespected in my life. He smirked and said "See, it's not a big deal for you to just help." I was livid. If I didnt have 18 youth to feed, I would have just left and found another store. I proceeded to bag up my groceries asked for his name, the store lead's name and the manager's name and I left upset and disappointed. I have worked in the service industry for most of my life, so I value my peers. I was going to assist in loading my cart with my youth, but the response and behavior was so rude and completely despicable, especially in front of youth. I just needed to share it here and I made sure to alert corporate of this incident. From the other reviews, I am not the only one. Something needs to be addressed promptly! Decided to give this grocery store a try. After my experience I will not be returning. I noticed a shopper with her toddler trying to tool the cart through the exit door and the wheels on the cart locked up. I tried to get the attention of an employee but nobody seemed to notice. I helped the shower lift her cart over the floor with a ridge to exit the store. Next, I went to the produce aisle. I could not believe how empty it was. There was one cucumber remaining and it was mushy and two heads of lettuce that had brown leaves. There were flies in this area. I was not able to find any decent produce. I picked up a couple of non-produce items and at the checkout register mentioned the lack of produce- the cashier ignored my comment. I also let her know that a customers cart had locked up and that it was not rolling. The cashier shrugged and said that happens sometimes.
