I had a very good experience with Smart Glass -- I had a break-in at my home, a small slider window (old, single paned) was smashed on a Monday; I called that day probably after hours, but Mike picked up the call and made arrangements for someone to come out the next day (Tuesday) to look at the damage. It turned out that to fix the window, access to the house was needed so Mike offered to have the repair done the next day (Wednesday) However -- repairman Paul offered to come out Tuesday when I was home from work, to fix the window, which he did. They gave me a very good price ($145) and when I finally got around to looking at the window I found that not only had Paul completely cleared up all the broken glass, he had also fixed a bent frame on another slider that was part of the same window. I felt they were very responsive and helpful. read more

I have used Smart Glass before and was always happy with the work that they had done. I arrived today and found out the glass for my window would not be available until tomorrow. I was unable to come back to the shop in the morning. Instead, the gentleman working there called several companies for me until he was able to find someone that would replace my window. They showed up this morning and wanted to do a cheap patch job and not fix it right. My company does lots of business with them and the owner still wouldn't do it right and was extremely rude. Save yourself the hassle. JUST DON'T I brought my car into Smart Glass to get my driver side window replaced after a lovely individual decided to help themselves to my homework and what not. Long story short- I drove to the shop in Seattle because I was tired of sporting my trash bag- the place is exactly how Sam A. reviewed- an hour later my window had been replaced- but there was an issue with my automatic roll up/down function- so I had to drive to the dealership to reset that feature. A month later I begin to hear a clunk sound when I rolled up my window. I had to drive BACK to the shop and endure a grueling conversation with who I assume is the owner for over a half an hour. The guy came out and listened to the sound and claimed it was something they don't cover. He had someone pull apart my door only to find THEY DIDN'T TIGHTEN THE BOLT ENOUGH TO BEGIN WITH. what a joke- I spent more money driving back and forth in the end. Run as fast as you can away from this business. I don't know how they have been allowed to stay in business when the owner is rude if something goes wrong with the service they provide. A poorly kept person with the windshield laying on top of clutter in the back seat of the car, arrived without the molding. The person began using a crow bar to smash the windshield without using any inside cover to shield the inside of my car from the shards of glass. They were unable to complete the job and left me without a windshield and shards of glass all over my car. read more

ABSOLUTE DISASTER !!!!! yeah, o.k, they are a little cheaper than the shop down the road. but, I beg of you......go down the road. This is the shop on the SW corner of 4th and Lander....directly behind Pep Boys. Their shop is a mess, completely unprofessional. Dirty filthy nasty....I should of known the second I went in, to turn around and leave...but I was foolish. It took them well over an hour to replace my windshield, and they damaged the chrome molding that surrounds the glass, then, instead of using the factory clips (which apparently he broke) he decided to use the Black silicone adhesive..instead of ANY clips .And he used A LOT of it. (Never once telling me "oops, I broke your clips and I will replace them for free"....NO. I would have purchased new clips...but they never asked)....and got the black crap ALL over the interior and exterior of my car...and when I say all over....I mean ALL over...what a mess, I filed a complaint with BBB, who eventually (after talking to the owner I presume) what I expected for my trouble...I told BBB, that I would think an interior shampoo would be o.k, (which I did not really want them touching my car again)...so, after a week or so, I get a letter from the BBB...telling me my case is closed (but they never resolved anything, No shampoo, No discount, No money back...NOTHING !!!)...WHAT, closed, what are you talking about. So I'm not to happy with the BBB either. They must hire people walking by the place, saying "Hey do you have any experience replacing auto glass...and when the kid says "NO"....he hears "O.K....You're Hired"...........For the love of God...do yourself a HUGE favor....just pay the extra 25 - 50 bucks, and go ANYWHERE else...DO NOT GO TO DUMB GLASS....I will NEVER ...EVER go there again, and I tell everyone I know to avoid this shop at all costs...you've been WARNED !!!!!!!! read more

However in the process, they recklessly scratched off large chips of paint on my side view mirror which would cost me $150-200 to repair/re-paint at an auto body shop. Price and availability I give this place five stars. The girl who was in charge who checked me out was all so wonderful. The shop itself leaves a lot to be desired, the waiting area is minimal at best. What really frustrated me is that I was in a hurry and I was the only customer. But the entire time that the guy was working on my vehicle he was on the phone, and all I could think was how much faster the process would have gone if maybe he had two hands working on my car. People doing little things like putting in a screw because you refused to put his phone down. Even while vacuuming the car he was on his phone, which I have a hard time understanding how that would be easy at all. Overall I don't regret going there a, they got me in within an hour of calling. How many out in an hour. And their pricing was by far the best in the area. Still I wish their employee had a little bit more integrity especially knowing I was watching and decided to do the work without taking a 45-minute personal call. I don't know many establishments that would allow or condone this practice. read more

The technician and his assistant were very professional and did excellent work. I thought I needed a full replacement of the sliding glass aluminum framed window in my home. They told me all I needed to do was to replace one of the double paned glass sections...which they did. It cost much less than I expected. I will use them again...you should too! read more

Called for front windshield replacement due to a highway rock on Feb 2012. Person answering phone was very short and not the most professional. Appt. made for next day (2 hour window given). Glass tech was on time and very courteous. Windshield was replaced in about an hour. I inspected workmanship and noticed no scratches or damage to the outside of my car. Window appeared to be installed satisfactorily. Tech gave me post instructions. I paid my deductible, signed paper work and happily parted company. The next day I drove my car to Seattle and noticed the rear view mirror was not sitting properly against the window and there was a small gash out of the middle edge my dash and a scratch on my front air vent assembly. My car is new and it wasn't there before. I decided not to pursue the dash damage since I already signed that things were in good order, but did call to ask for the rear view mirror to be reassessed. Same person answered the phone "hello". I was told someone would be out to look at it, but wasn't given a time. In the end I decided to fix it myself. I called back to cancel having someone come back out...again "hello". Person indicated they had no one in the area but would try tomorrow. Professionalism goes a long way and so does customer service or lack there of. Beware! read more

Please be prepared to be completely ignored after your initial contact with this company. On a Tuesday awhile ago, we had a rock thrown through our front door window. That day I called Smart Glass Inc. and spoke with someone who was completely nice on the phone. He was very helpful and directed me to the residential technician's cell phone. Again, a very nice encounter over the phone with Keith-the residential tech. He told me that he could come out the very next morning and measure the window and proceeded to give me a quote over the phone for the work. He then told me that the glass could be installed as early as that Friday. We were very happy to know this and set up the appointment. The next day came, and no call from Keith. I called in the afternoon and left a message to see what was going on. He did not call back. I called two more times the next day and left messages. He did not call back. So basically, this company had absolutely no follow through and did not keep their word. I will never call them again and should have paid closer attention to the bad reviews on this page. If I could, I would give them no stars because not keeping your word is the worst kind of business practice. read more

Please read this as this is very dangerous!!!! Be careful! They installed a new rear glass on my Mercedes. The first time I drove the car and turned the rear window heating on, the rubber started to burn. Like really burn. Flames went up in the car ( this wagon has a 3rd row seat and my kids constantly sit there... ) IN THE FACE OF MY DAUGHTER!!!! She started to scream, we stopped immediately. The window just shattered into million pieces, falling on her lap, all over the floor and out on the street. We took pictures and now they don't return our calls. So now I'm smelling a lawsuit. It could have killed anybody sitting in the back. Beware and please don't ever think about using this business. read more

Do not use these guys to replace your windshield. I used them a year ago to replace my windshield and they glued the molding to the windshield. I have a van with a broken side window and when I tried to replace it myself, I saw I needed a new motor. It was not stock so I really could not order a motor. The young man at Smart Glass came to my house to repair at least the glass, BUT he was also able to fix the motor! I am so happy about that in particular but to top it off, it was SOOO much less than I had expected! Very happy! BAD customer service. I arranged to have someone come by for an estimate. I was told he'd be by sometime that day. When I asked for a tighter window, I was told that the estimator would call me. After waiting around all day, and not receiving a call, at 4:30 I called to see what was up. I was then told he wouldn't be able to make it but would come the next day, and was given his number to call him myself. I didn't get around to it until the next morning when I discovered I had misplaced the number. So at 10:45, I called the main number to see when he might be able to make it. I was told he was on the way, and was told to call him. I asked why do I need to call him if he's on the way? I was then hung up on. I was very disappointed with their level of customer service. I emailed requesting information and a price quote. The quote was a really good deal but I felt as though they were being pushy in their email by following it up with "when can we send someone out?" After looking over the reviews and seeing all the negative comments, it raised concerns with me. If I could give zero stars I would. BEWARE, horrible workmanship, and they don't give a shit about you. I have used them in the past a few years back is why I went back, they used to be good. I called Wednesday morning and arranged to have the TWO windows for my car in so the work could get done. I went in Wednesday afternoon and dropped the car off. I received a phone call to tell me that my car was done. While on the phone the guy asked me if they were supposed to do 2 windows, to which I replied yes, that is why I showed you both windows that were broken and that is why the work order clearly says, 2 windows. So they did one window and dumped the car back in my lap. The guy said, "Sorry, I don't know what happened but we close in ten minutes, so......." I kid you not, exactly what he said. I told them before I drove down there how important this was because we have a 1 year old that is in school and the car is my wife's and she needs it to get to work and get our child to school. So after leaving the car parked all weekend with a BROKEN OUT WINDOW, I went back on Monday to see if they could finish the work. When the windows were first broke I took MY vacuum and cleaned out all the loose glass from the car. They told me over the phone the price was for the parts, labor, and a vacuum. So as you can probably guess, my wife's car now has 2 piles of broken glass on the floor in the front and back of the car. After waiting for 2 AND HALF HOURS the car was returned to me, still with broken glass everywhere. No one ever offered to make the situation right, not to stay late the first time, not help pay me back for the extra gas that their poor foresight cost me with 2 trips to Seattle, they just took my money and said thank you. The least they could have done was given me the middle finger to my face, since their work is a clear statement of "Go F*** Yourself". AVOID THIS PLACE. A gentleman walked in after I was sitting on the couch for 30 minutes to place an orer to have a glass cut and fitted so he could take it home and do the work himself. An hour later he came back to get his glass they had custom cut for him while I was still SITTING IN THE WAITING ROOM. He even looked at me and smiled as he said, "you sure have been here a while". Unfortunately I had to tell him, "This is attempt number 2 even". read more

I called for a glass order and called to cancel the next day because it turns out I didn't need to replace the windows. They told me that was fine, they understood and that my credit card would be credited back for the deposit. 2 weeks later I called because the charge was still there and they told me that they couldn't cancel the order (and never called to inform me that they had my glass sitting there for 2 weeks). They are refusing the refund my deposit even though the window glass is a standard size and now I have 5 windows windows and no use for them and am out $450. I would NOT recommend them. read more

I was very impressed by theses guys. I called yesterday and the were at my place the following day first thing in the morning. The only thing though was that they showed up with a wrong windshield, slight confusion on the model of my car when they took the information on the phone, however, they immediately sent another one within an hour. The tech was professional, knew his job and touched up my car with paint on scratches that were there from before. He was in and out within the hour mark and the job was clean. 5 star for me...keep the good work! read more

He ordered the glass for our Prius window and had the glass replaced within an hour and a half while we ate breakfast at Denny's across the street. The cost was considerably less than other quotes. If I could give this company zero stars, I would. I brought my vehicle in to have the driver's window replaced after being shattered. After giving Mike the exact make/model of my vehicle, I was quoted $180 plus tax the day before I brought it in. Once my car was in the shop and already being worked on, I was told that they had ordered the wrong glass (looks like a common theme, based on other reviews), which would raise the price by $100. After complaining about what the point of getting a quote is, if it is not honored, the only thing Mike would tell me was that "I wouldn't find it cheaper any where else." I foolishly gave in and had them continue the work at the higher price. The work that was done was not close to being quality. There were goo marks all over my car, the door sounded funny when it shut, there was a black mark on the window that showed above the seal and the seal was not even sealed correctly. After a month and a half of having this "new" window, I went to my car and closed my back trunk. As soon as it closed shut the entire replaced window shattered. I immediately called Smart Glass and spoke to Mike again, who told me to bring it in, so they could look at it. Again, foolishly, I brought it in. After driving to the shop in a seat of shattered glass, Mike "took a look" at it. He offered no apologies, no help, no nothing. Instead he immediately started to tell me that here was no way it could have happened from me simply closing my trunk - "In the 20 years I've been doing business, I've never seen this. Something would have had to have hit it first." A simple google search on the issue will tell you that it is possible because of imperfections in the glass - and I haven't worked a day in an auto shop. Mike refused to do ANYTHING for me aside from replacing the window at full price again. I obviously turned that offer down and had Safe Lite replace the window. The service and work was night and day better than Smart Glass. The glass fits the window and is sealed correctly, the door sound fine when it shuts, the shop did not smell like a dirty ashtray and the employees were awesome. Smart Glass is the closest thing to a full on scam that I've ever come across. The service is horrible, the product is horrible, the employees are horrible, the facilitates are horrible. Everything about this place is horrible. If you have ANY sense, DO NOT VISIT SMART GLASS. EVER. They should not be in business and if you check the BBB, they've had multiple complaints filed against them. read more

Called in about a windshield replacement after contacting a few other places about estimates. I asked for the price of both heated and non heated windshields and was told that if I had heated seats, I must get heated windshield. While I was explaining that other technicians told me that it wasn't necessary, the call taker interrupted me saying "If you want to go with them and something goes wrong, don't call back blaming us" (in a very rude tone). Said they could fix my Truck window on site.. Tech shows up in a beat up van with no company name on it, can barly speak english. Tells me he has to take my truck back to his shop in Seattle to do the work because he has to remove the back seat. He calls his shop and some guy tells me the lady that made the appointment doesn't know that much about cars.. Really? I call Renton Dodge and they set me up with there company which works with my insurance so my cost drops from $500 to $100. My advice. I had my windshield replaced while I was out of town and my car was in the body shop in Bellevue. When I got back, the body shop mentioned there was an issue with the molding but they'd noticed it after he left. I called Smart Glass and they told me to bring it to their Seattle store and they'd fix it. After it was "fixed", they had blue tape covering the area and told me to leave it on until the next day. When I removed the tape, I saw there was now a huge gap in the edge of the molding and it now looked much worse than it had in the beginning!! I took the car back a second time and they said they would shove some black goop in there but the only way to really fix it was to do it over which they absolutely refused to do. Their quality of work was shoddy and their customer service was even worse! I wish I'd gone with the company the body shop recommended. They were more expensive but it the long run, I would have saved a lot of time and headaches and would have been happier with the end result. read more

I'll never go to Smart Glass again, and recommend you don't go there either. They replaced the front windshield of my Crown Victoria, but the windshield wipers now don't go down all the way when off. I took it back the next day for them to fix it. It was obvious, they didn't know what they were doing, were not able to fix it, and said it was just like it was supposed to be (only that's not a true statement as it's different than when I brought it in). They fiddled around for close to two hours with it and didn't fix it. The rubber molding around the driver's door was not watertight. The rubber molding under the hood that they had taken out to replace the window was not put back all the way. They don't pay attention to details at all. I don't expect to pay close to $200 and come away with my car in worse condition than when I brought it in. Very poor customer relations. They have an attitude: If you're not happy with the work, it's just too bad for you. They don't interact with you, except to say if you're not happy you can take them to small claims court or the Better Business Bureau. It sounds like they have enough experience to know that these are the options to offer to dissatisfied customers. Stay away from Small Glass! read more

I walked out to find my back window smashed, for no apparent reason nothing was missing. Of course it was a VERY inconvenient time, leaving for Mexico for 4 months early (230am) the next morning, the 28 of Dec. Insurance did nothing but give me excuses, as to why they could not help me for a few days. Took a long time on the phone, for nothing. I googled glass companies and started calling this was the first PERSON I got. Chanel (sp?) was so kind and realizing my time problem. She said someone would be out between 3 - 5pm, (it was 11am now). THEY SHOWED UP AT 100pm! He was SO efficient, cleaning up all the glass, even in the new toddler car seat and cleaning up the area after he had completed the job. AND, it cost me less than all the other companies I called. Same as my deductible. I had a wonderful experience, thank you Chanel and Mike and the nice man that did the work (don't know his name). read more
