Was visiting family up in the PNW when someone decided to smash my front passenger side window in broad daylight at a park with lots of people nearby. Long story short, I placed a quote on Yelp and most people could not have repaired my window for at least 3 days to a week. I had to drive around with a broken window? With only a few days notice, Juan showed up and replaced our car's windshield on the streets of the U-District. Our 2009 Prius had developed a long crack as we prepared for a trip. We could not do without it and drop it at a shop. Most services require you to drop it off, but Urbano came to us. Two days from my call, on a Saturday morning. In about an hour or so, he had the new windshield in and ready to drive. He left some tape on to be removed in 24 hours. Within 24 hours, we pulled the tape off and had the car on a 900 mile drive which went uneventfully with the new windshield. It is not Toyota branded, but it looks exactly the same, good tint, great clarity, and "dots" everywhere expected. The price was in line with the shops that required us to drop off the car, so it was a great timesaver. He called when he was on his way, so we were able to plan around it. Very convenient. For us the value of paying for the mobile service was worth it so we didn't have to drive around Seattle on holiday (we live an hour north of Seattle on an island with fewer service options). I had a poor overall experience with Urbano. My car got broken into during a trip to Portland. It was Sunday, so I couldn't find anyone to fix the window for me. I drove back to Seattle with a trash bag as a window. I was excited when Juan with Urbano was able to come to my work place the next day to fix the window for me, as I wasn't able to leave work early and everywhere else would be closed by the time I got there. We settled on 2PM. He didn't get there until 3:30PM. Not a big deal, but it messed up my schedule just a bit. He installed the new window fairly quickly (not in a "rushed" manner). And he vacuumed up all the broken glass that I had missed. Before leaving, he told me to not roll the window down for at least two days to let the glue dry. No Problem! I was going out of town for a week anyways; no chance I accidentally roll it down! When I get back...I go test out the window. It rolled down no problem. When I rolled it back up, once it got to the top, it would automatically go back down about an inch or two. The only way I could stop it right at the top was to turn off the engine right when it was at the top. Hope that made sense. So, the next morning, I called Juan and asked him to come back out to take a look and fix it. He was able to come that same day. This time, he was actually early and I was coming back from lunch. I felt bad making him wait. He took a look at it and said this is a sensor issue and I'd have to take it to the Lexus Dealership. I asked him why there's a sensor issue after he installed the window, and his response is that it probably got damaged during the breaking of the window. Makes sense. I thanked him and he left. I scheduled an appointment with Lexus. I met my advisor and when I told them what happened, they said two things: 1) If it's just resetting the sensor, we'll take care of you in just a few minutes and it'll be no charge! (they've taken care of me a few other times on minor things with no charge) 2) It's weird that he "glued" it. (I know nothing about windows, so I don't know if that's weird or not, but a few different people said the same thing to me when I told them the story). My advisor comes back in and said it's not the sensor, and they'll need to remove the door to be able to find out what the issue is. And they need my approval to do so. Costs money (labor). Alright, go ahead. They open the door and sees that the window was installed incorrectly, and will need to remove the window and install it again. Costs more money (more labor). Okay, go ahead. They come grab me again and tell me that the window is glued in and cannot be removed, and they'll need to install a new window...AND, it has to be ordered because they don't have it in stock. Aiyah. I take really good care of my car. I don't want a half functioning window...okay, go ahead. I hop in a loaner and take off. Again - reiterating...I've had really good experiences with this Lexus dealership and with this advisor. This frustration is just because of how long it got drawn out. And that I had to pay to get the same window fixed twice. I've kept my insurance broker informed this entire time. I submit for reimbursement. I get paid out fairly quickly (for insurance standards) on the Lexus part. On Urbano - they need more details in the receipt. My car got broken into in October. My first request to Urbano for a detailed receipt was in January. He responded a few times saying he needs more information to pull up his records. Information was provided back to him, and he still hasn't sent us what we need. It's now April, and he hasn't responded to the last 4 emails sent to him. 2 star rating - he's a nice enough guy. And I don't think there was any ill intention and I surely don't believe it's a scam of any sort. That's why it's not a 1 star. I paid for a service, and the service wasn't to my satisfaction...I had to go to someone else to get the same service done.
