Came to pick up our 250 business cards; I was extremely excited to see the end result. I walked in and within a minute a passing employee approached me and asked me if I was helped yet. He was friendly and very personable. He introduced himself and we shook hands. I told him I was here to pick up business cards. I gave him the business name and invoice number and he happily got someone on the job immediately. I waited for perhaps 5 minutes and my cards were out and ready to be looked at. Sadly, the cards were not the color we were expecting. It was a brownish black when our color proofs were maroon/cranberry colored. I double checked the email proof and saw the disclaimer saying "Because we cannot control how everyone's monitor is set to different color modes, Smart Levels Media will not be responsible for color shifts when comparing to E-mail proofs. If color is an issue we suggest a hardcopy proof to view the closest rendition possible." I was unaware of this fact because, who really does check the terms and conditions or reads these explicit details? I believe these details should be outlined before purchasing, before the process of making these business cards are even started. Customers should be told point-blank that if they purchase a business card or any type of print that "color shifts are very probable and that to ensure color accuracy one MUST (not should), MUST PURCHASE AN EPSON PROOF AND DOUBLECHECK THE COLORS. Wow. If I had known prior to my purchase, I wouldn't have gone with this company. You also have to purchase the epson print FROM the company. They won't accept one from Kinko's or anywhere else. So, in order to have a FOR SURE, GUARANTEE that the color you choose will be the COLOR you get, you need to purchase an epson print, go into the actual Smart Levels facility and compare the print out with your email proof. Why send out the email proof if its not a legit representation of the printed project? Why confuse customers? Why include the info as a secondary notion? Hidden behind terms and conditions mumbo jumob or hidden under disclaimers that no one reads. This is a vital purchasing factor and therefore should be relayed 100% to customers. If there's no transparency here, than what was the point of this business transaction? I was hoping to do future business with this company but am aghast by their business ethics. Lessons: - Make sure you get an Epson proof print of your business cards before you place your order! Colors change from email proof to actual print so Epson prints that are offered by smart levels are the only comparisons you can have. And they charge for that. 15 buckaroos baby. - Also, did you print 250 cards today, and want 250 or maybe 1000 of the same EXACT color and same print the next time around? EHHHHHHH...YOU CANT. The machine mixes 4 colors together and they always get mixed up, the percentages change, etc. etc. If you want to reprint your cards, they will be 80-90% accurate, but they will never match the old looking cards.. Update! From one star to five star Edit: the review was in a state of discontent. I have realized that the issue was on our part (our monitor was not set properly) and I apologize for the harsh review. I even had the company reach out to me apologizing and requesting to reprint my cards. I am delighted by their professionalism and again apologize for my lack of professionalism. I digress, go with Smart Levels. Just be educated on the process necessary for printing and your prints will turn out accurately. read more

I would highly recommend using Smart Levels!!! Been using this company for business cards, post cards, sell sheets, catalogs, greeting cars, door hanger displays, stand up displays, etc. for almost 5-6 years. I've been a graphic designer / marketing manager for almost a decade and I'm happy using this printing company. I love their website!!! You don't have to wait to get pricing. They list all their products online and the ability to see pricing laid out for you by quantity is truly a marketing tool. Why use smaller printing companies that charge more or even larger companies like FedEx or Staples with lower quality prints... when you can use the top-of-the-line in UV Glossy printed marketing materials. I use to work for another similar company in Burbank (GotPrint.com) and Smart Levels uses the same Heidelberg printing presses and bindery machines. German made machinery are a beast. The BMW and Mercedes Benz of the printing industry, the Heidelberg 5-color presses are absolutely spot on and I'm glad Smart Levels uses them. Another great thing about this company is their customer service. Their will-call receptionist are always helpful and always helps you when you arrive and helps you out to your car. I have all good things to say about this company and I highly recommend using them for any of your projects. read more

I've been doing business with Smart Levels Media for over a decade, almost always with great results. The gang-run stuff is almost always perfect and when it's not, they go to extra-ordinary steps to make it so. And they're more than willing to assist with those oh-so profitable custom jobs that require runs of their own. To recent experiences illustrate my point: 1) An after-hours call on a Friday and a SLM partner (Brandon) picks up! Not a robot, not a rep, but one of the friggin' owners who assists me with a website ordering issue. This is my idea of customer service. But wait there's more... 2) An expensive order went bad because of both a designer error and a client's error. After sorting it out, SLM offered to reprint the job at cost, foregoing immediate profit over an act of enlightened self interest. We are always so quick to judge and base our judgement of relationships on our experiences when we have all of our ducks in a row. But the real deal unveils itself when an issue, problem or challenge occurs. It's how our vendors react when we're down that really defines the true nature of your relationships. Smart Levels operates under an ethos, attitude and authenticity sadly lacking in so much of the business sector. Great job guys! read more

I've worked with SmartLevels for several years through multiple large and small businesses that I've worked with. It wasn't until there was a true problem that occurred on a very short timeline for my own Branding company that I felt compelled to write a Yelp review. Recently a client of mine needed a flier and it was necessary to get it next day because of the clients Golf event the following day. I unfortunately checked the email proof box on the SmartLevels form which had delayed the printing. Our company buys a lot of printing marketing stuff, and we got them from different providers. There were too many issues with these companies: we had to wait several weeks for our products, prices kept changing all time and we didn't know the status of our job until we got it. This totally changed when we started using Smart Levels, at the beginning we didn't purchase all our marketing stuff from them because ordering online was too tedious and kind of limited to make special requests like sending to different address or getting a quote first and then purchasing the exact stuff you were quoted on. However, I called the company and they contacted me with Carlos Mendoza (Sales Rep) and it made things easier.
