Just bought a house in Phoenix and after reading all the Yelp reviews, decided to go with Smart Security. Met with Steve to review the existing alarm (ADP) and see what we could re-use and what needed to be replaced. Also wanted some HD cameras to be installed around the house (provided by us). Steve went through everything and answered all the questions we had and went through how everything would be installed (I wanted a nice professional install like I had seen on customer pics). He provided us with a fair quote and we decided to go with them. We were out of town for the install so the crew went in and did the alarm and camera install for us. Steve kept us updated during the entire process, called when he had any questions and also texted me pictures of everything when done. There was no mess left behind, everything was clean and professionally done and the neighbors commented on how nice everything looked. Overall we are very pleased with the company and Steve, glad we ended up going with them. We recently had some incidents around our neighborhood and one at our residence so we decided to install some cameras. We bought a Samsung system on Amazon and after getting some ridiculous estimates, we went with the much more reasonable estimate from Smart Security. Smart Security gave us their estimate right over the phone; other companies wanted to come out which just made me feel like they wanted to get a feel for how much they could get away with charging us. They were able to come out 2 days later which was great. Tyler and Dalston (sp) showed up right on time. We took some time to show where we wanted the cameras. We made some changes based on their recommendations which made total sense. They got right to work, they kept us informed all along the way, showing us different parts of the install and explaining any obstacles they ran into. Also have to mention we had a more difficult install than most because we have some odd roof lines but they got it done. Dalston had another job to get to in the afternoon - which they made us aware of prior to beginning - but Tyler got the rest done in no time. He adjusted all the cameras so we got the best view possible, cleaned up any mess made. He was fantastic, he went way above and beyond, very friendly and trustworthy. In conversation we mentioned we weren't happy with our current alarm company and he gave us some info on their service. We have a year left on ours but will be calling them once we're done. If you're installing a security system, do yourself a favor and call these guys, then... just rest easy. read more

We moved into our home a year or so ago that had an existing hard-wired security system. We called a couple of other bigger name alarm companies to see if they could use my existing system and complement it with new hardware/technology. Most of them either declined immediately or just wanted to install another duplicate/wireless security system in my home because they didn't want to take the time to trouble shoot the existing one. If you're reading this review, you don't have to look any further for an alarm company. Smart Security Systems, in my opinion, is the best choice. It's refreshing to find a company who truly believes, enjoys, and stands behind what they do and are professional about it. Within one day of moving into my home, I was approached by no less than three alarm company dealers pitching their monitored alarm systems. The timing was right to buy a system, but the company I selected was wrong. Like many of us who have alarm systems, I am "trapped" into a three-year contract I couldn't break without paying the remaining contract balance. Service is horrible, the wi-fi cameras stopped working, and no one would take or return my calls. They even reneged on a $300.00 credit they offered. Every day I felt I was on borrowed time hoping someone would see the yard sign and cameras and think twice before coming on to my property, not knowing the cameras were now just for show. Fast forward to Smart Security Systems and the owner, Steve. Fed up with my current alarm system, I decided the risk outweighed the cost. I started researching security companies and compared many of them when I came across Smart Security Systems. What initially caught my eye and intrigued me most were the pictures showing installed cameras mounted at various homes and businesses. The Smart Security System is the hardwired, reliable DVR recordable system I wanted! The work was so "clean" looking and professionally installed, especially when compared to what I had. As I continued reading all the positive reviews about Steve and his company, I was further reassured. I sent a request for information that evening and received a reply from Steve a few hours later. Steve and I spoke on the phone the next morning. Unlike the other alarm companies, Steve asked me what my needs were and what I expected to get out of an alarm system. He was genuinely interested in building a relationship and providing me with a service, and not just selling me an alarm system. Steve met me at my house a few days later, and we talked about the type of system I wanted. He completed a survey around the home ― both inside and out ― and explained the kind of system he would recommend, to include motion-activated cameras with high resolution, digital zoom, and night vision capabilities. Later that evening I received a detailed and exceptionally fair proposal with several options. After a brief conversation the following morning, I settled on one of the options with an installation date a few days later. Steve arrived on the date and time promised. Within minutes Steve and his assistant, Tyler, were running spools of wire through the attic, and mounting cameras where we agreed. The installation took about six hours, which included instructions on how to operate and monitor the system. Steve was very thorough training me on how the system worked and spent a great deal of time with me positioning the camera angles to ensure I was satisfied. He even followed up later that evening when I sent him a message with a question. Steve and Tyler were methodical in their work and cleaned up all boxes, instructions, plastic wrappers, wire clippings, conduit pieces, etc. I would highly recommend Smart Security Systems; they're a great company with a great product, and provide excellent service. read more

You told me on the phone and you have indicated in your response to my review that you have not signed anyone up for SAFE Security in the past year or so and yet when I checked your company's website, I saw that you continue to flaunt an advertisement for SAFE Security and being part of their dealer program. If you're in the market for a surveillance system and or alarm you need to call Smart Security. I purchased my home with an existing 20 year old alarm and surveillance system . After reading a bunch of reviews from different companies and calling around I quickly realized most "security" companies are only interested in getting you to sign long contracts with alarm packages. Steve at Smart Security came out and immediately looked for ways to update the existing system and to try and salvage what worked to save me money. After an extensive consultation and install, my home security is now state of the art. Now I have control of my system without a contract. Prior to the installation, he had come over to our house to listen and understand our requirements. Based on our needs, he then proposed the appropriate solution which we liked. He installed our cameras today and the entire process was executed perfectly. They had installed the alarm and initial cameras in our house 2.5 years ago. I was concerned and sad when i heard that the owner Steve passed away. I would've hated to select another service provider. I would have to add my applause to this company and its work. I had some security cameras installed improperly by another firm and they weren't working correctly. I asked Smart Security to come out and do it right. I could tell from the get-go that these guys know what they are doing. They immediately corrected improper cabling that was causing the problems and also adjusted the settings to work better. My security system is now working perfectly. The views through all cameras are excellent. It is hard to find good tradespeople in AZ but these guys are excellent in what they do. They are a bit pricey in that they charge you sometimes for a service call and the work rather than just for the work (by the hour or a flat fee). Most guys charge a service call fee only if they do nothing and leave. But other than that you will get excellent work and it's done in a timely way. read more

my condolences to steves family. this business is closed dwn now from what tyler told me yesterday. unfortunately i must give my honest review on my system. poor quality and no voice. nyou are better off getting ring cameras. better quality picture by far and has voice. the unprofessional treatment i received from tyler i didn't expect as i did a factory reset on my iphone and deleted my camera icon so i couldn't veiw my cameras on my phone. being handicapped i really needed this working. called and spoke to tyler and gound out steve owner died. tho he said he was going to help me get my phone camera viewing back. well a few phone tags as ive been sick i than called and called sent so many text messages and not one response. than yesterday i get a call from tyler telling me business is closed dwn and he cant help me. mind you i even offered to pay him. he told me that i would have to hire another security company to help get my camera viewing back on my phone. i truly couldn't believe what i was hearing as he told me he was going to help me and now he isnt?? this is so unprofessional. in my eyes your word goes a long way in life. and i sure hope this company like he said is closed dwn as who would like to hire a person that goes back on their word. i will. call roc and talk to his bond company to verify company truly is closed down. will update as needed. read more

Amazing! We moved to a new house and wanted to protect it. After researching several security companies I spoke with Steve from Smart Security who came out and looked everything over. He is like a consultant for our security needs because he made sure to tell us what was needed, but he also told us what was not needed so we didn't waste our money. This was invaluable. Then our job was more difficult because of the way the home was designed but Steve put in a lot of time, including on the weekend to make sure it was done right (this included cameras and glass break detection, etc).
