Back in the day, it was just comics and hardcore (the original do it yourself) albums... which is now mainstream thanks to Nirvana, Pearl Jam and RHCP commercial success and the likes of WFNX 101.7 before they went trash. Hipster heaven, it is today for kids as Spencer's was to me in the early 1980s... full of novelty crap. Shockingly I'm surprised in this day and age they are surviving as well as they are... maybe? The fabulous display continues throughout the store, creating a very enjoyable shopping experience. The selection of clothing, books and toys are well curated for ages ranging newborn to small children. I had a lovely chat with the owner who was both friendly and helpful with my shopping needs. She let me know about a clothing sale they were having and provided fun facts about the books I was browsing. (Local authors sold here) I was pleased to see good Spanish book options, and ended up purchasing one as a gift. Many of the items here seemed to be "earth friendly", made with good materials at a reasonable price. I will be back to shop for gifts in the future!

The store was founded in 1882 by a group of Harvard students to make textbooks more affordable and learning more accessible. Later, MIT joined forces and the COOP is the place for students of either college to get supplies, gifts and souvenirs. I loved all the great sweaters they had.

The inside of the comic store is also very bright and clean, unlike most comic book places I've seen that have a darker atmosphere to them.
