They may mention that certain fees are not included, however when you add up all the fees, the trip is no longer FREE. Here is the review promised to Smart Travel Incentives - Vacation Advisor, whom we regret dealing with from start to finish. After stopping by their booth at the Placer County Gold Country Fair in Auburn, my wife and I were suckered into handing over a $20 deposit toward a vacation club presentation to be conducted by zoom meeting. We were lured into attending with the promise of a Disneyland vacation that would include Hotel accommodations for 2 nights, and up to $200 rebate off Disneyland tickets. We were also promised that our $20 would be returned, after we attended. We attended, and declined the package they were trying to sell us which would have cost thousands of dollars...instead, simply opting for the Disneyland gift which was initially promised. Instead of returning our deposit, they sent my phone some sort of non-physical, virtual discount coupon thing that turned out to be worthless (we're not even sure how to redeem it)....and kept our $20 deposit. We should have cut our losses at that point. Next, after jumping through a bunch of hoops to book the Disneyland trip (including 2 additional $75 deposits, totaling $150) we were emailed a short list (half dozen or so) of motels to choose from. All choices were either a 30+ minute drive from Disneyland or just run down, dirty dumps. We chose Knotts Berry Farm Hotel because it seemed nicer than the rest. As it turned out, the hotel was under major renovations (not so nice), 30 minute drive (on the freeway) from Disneyland, and in a rough neighborhood. We also had to pay the hotel $30 upgrade fee for a 2nd bed to accommodate our daughter. After driving for 8 hrs, 450 miles (one way) to get there, it was difficult to find a safe place where we could get dinner being that the entirety of Buena Park is somewhat of a ghetto. The Disneyland tickets had to be purchased in advance, costing $672 for 3 tickets...while the 16-hr round trip by car cost us $200 in gas, plus wear and tear. The worst part of our Vacation Advisor experience came last. After following their instructions practically to a T, and submitting copies of our tickets and all other requested materials within the specified time frame in order to receive our $200 rebate...they screwed us over. They do say up front that you must do exactly as they instruct, or you won't receive the rebate...and I exhausted myself attempting to do just that. They tell you everything must be sent "certified mail". I guess I am an idiot because I thought this meant "sent through USPS with proper postage"...and hadn't realized "certified mail" is a special service through USPS that you have to pay extra for. I sent everything that was requested right away upon our return, and didn't hear back from them for a few weeks (while they sat on it until specified time frame expired). Then they send me a letter saying how "Unfortunately they can not give us the rebate because it was not sent by certified mail." I emailed them, and pleaded for the chance to resend by certified mail (now that I understood correctly what is was), but to no avail. They told me that it wouldn't be fair since I hadn't done exactly as they stated, and besides the required time frame had expired. Should've known we'd get burned dealing with this shady outfit, who don't even deserve 1 star. RUN, RUN We received a travel voucher from Vacation Advisor for a 3 day, 2 night Air & Marriott vacation. You must send a cashier check for $100 and give them 2 date, 1st date, 60days in advance and 2nd date, a minimum of 45 days later. After submitting everything, we were told them dates didn't work and submitted new dates. Next we were told that the airfare had a cap of $350.00. As a lay person, I was am to find at least 2 flights that met that criteria. Then we got an invoice for an additional $747.39. Either this a scam or they are just incompetent or unethical. Nothing but jumping through hoop after hoop. Very let down and dissapointed. A true lesson that just about everything comes with mutliple strings attached. Started this thing back in April. It's now September. I'll break it down like that New Kids On The Block Song: (Only there are a hell of a lot more step) Step: 1. Send in $100.00 money order via certified mail. 2. Wait for them to receive it, process it and send you your date choices (about 2 wks) 2. Fill out and send in your choices. You get two as long as they are 45 days in between. 3. Wait for their answer which is likely: "No, we're sorry we can't find anything at all for either choice. (Another 2-3 weeks for that response) 4. Fill out and send again with two other choices ( Another 2-3 weeks for their response) 5. Another rejection note, that they can't accomodate. But a friendly little tip from their reseravtion department: We have more availability with shorter flights vs cross country. Umm..... our first 4 requests were NOT across country, over a holiday etc. 6. Choose a destination most likely not on your deisred list. 7. Finally 4 months later, a confirmation email to our undesired place. Note** travel experts: Chicago is NOT Elk Grove Village. The Chicago land area is our second home. I was expecting a confirmation in the city. Their response verbatim: (a) In order to book these flights and hotel you are responsible for all taxes, fees, and surcharges. Your total cost for the two tickets would be $304 less the $100 deposit on file, so your remaining balance due would be $204. Attached is the credit card authorization form to remit the final payment due. Please advise us what you would like to do in regards to this offer asap as we have no way of holding availability. 8. I advised. With a big fat, NO THANKS.. Nothing against Elk Grove Village, but for the time it took for us to get this crap deal, we could have driven down and back a number of times. 9. Requested refund only to be told we would have to mail one in. They don't take email or fax requests. That whole process about 4-6 weeks. 10. Refund finally received less a $20.00 BS activation fee. 11. Lesson learned for not partcipating ever again in this hoopla! There is really nothing smart about Smart Travel Incentives other than the smart, snippy responses you get while waiting on hold to talk to a live person. Hit #6 to bypass the "deals" For Two Round- Trip airline tickets, three days and two nights at a :Hilton, Hyatt, Mariott, Carlson etc, it's simply not worth the headache, time or hoop jumping you have to do with this company. Sure, it's valid if you want to pay all the hidden taxes, surcharges and fees which are laid out, but they don't tell you that more likely than not, your requests will be rejected each time. Here is the low down on this company -- This company provides the travel arrangements for time share companies to well-known vacation spots in Orlando and Las Vegas. **I'VE done a few time-share presentations and have never had my flight added (I have had a flight coupon added which took $200 off my flight) but never had a flight included...so this was wonderful...or at least I thought so. LOVED THE PACKAGE OFFER: Our total vacation package cost was an amazing $300 which included the following: $350 airline credit for Las Vegas 4 days and 3 nights resort accommodations in Las Vegas, NV $100 promotional gambling chips (OR) $100 dining card Vegas Advantage Card -------------------------------------- #1 MAJOR FAIL: *we booked a time-share presentation/vacation incentive package (which states) *Single females also qualify -- but the Smart Travel Incentive's representatives wanted to place us at the Excalibur hotel instead of the advertised hotel which is the Wyndham Hotel (Las Vegas). #2 MAJOR FAIL: When we started booking our dates and flights with Smart Travel Incentives representatives, Rachelle and Judy...... things took a turn for the worse. Our $300 trip would have cost $465.99. We were under the impression that according to the website and the offer made to us via the phone call, we would be paying $300 with $350 in airfare bonus (and incentives): The website XXXX states the following: "We pay for the first $350 and you simply pay the remainder" Doing the math.... our flight came way under $350!! Our flight came to $165.99 (for 2 people). Which means we have a credit of $184.01 and according to the XXXX website: "That means you keep that extra cash in your pocket!" Unfortunately, the Smart Travel Incentives company said our base credit is $350 and our base flight cost is $165.99 and they then wanted us to pay the taxes of an extra $165.99. So, still under $350 for the BASE INCENTIVE....$350 - 165.99 = $184.01 LESS the Taxes of $165.99 = a CREDIT of $14.02 and again according to the website: "That means you keep that extra cash in your pocket!" According to Smart Travel Incentives they wanted us to pay an extra $165.99 on top of the $300 we paid to XXXX for the trip making the trip a Grand Total of $465.99 ($300 + $165.99). #3 MAJOR FAIL: Also, when emailing XXXX, we received the following message: "Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently: Support@XXXX" ------------------------------ Note: These are 2 companies. Company XXXX is the company offering the $300 deal AND..... to make the travel/flight arrangements, they've contracted Smart Travel Incentives. Smart Travel Incentives is a SCAM company!!! I received an offer from a Travel company that said I would received two free airline tickets if I attended their seminar. I told the lady on the phone we take 6 trips a year all of them from Atlanta to East Lansing Mich. to go to the MSU football games. She said that was perfect and the tickets would work. We went to the seminar and they didn't have anything to offer in East Lansing but they gave us the voucher for the two free tickets. After reading it I realized it was basically a scam. Waste of time and energy!! We went to a silly sales seminar and received a "voucher" 3 weeks later after many phone calls asking where it was, for a free mariott room or great wolf lodge for 2 nights. It said you needed to send in a money order for $75 with the voucher sent certified mail, and in my haste to get it out in time to use this summer, sent in the voucher without the "refundable"deposit money order. A couple days later when I realized this, I called and spoke to an extremely rude and cold receptionist who told me there was NO WAY to redeem the voucher now, sorry your loss. That was it, no help, no reasoning, just NOPE it will be void and you messed up and there is nothing you can do. I asked to speak to someone who had a heartbeat and she transferred me to a random voicemail. I left a message and of course never got a return call. I emailed a contact they had on their facebook and never got a response. When I mentioned the issue to others, they said anyone that requires a money order that is a "refundable deposit" is blowing smoke and you would not have gotten that $ back so be thankful you didnt lose out that money and walk away. Before attending any time share presentation promising a free trip in return, make sure they are not using Smart Travel and Incentives to provide the trip! Endless hoops to jump through are described in tiny print in the terms and conditions. Unfortunately, this is a separate document from the application you actually fill out and send in. Basically, they are looking for any reason to deny your travel request. Then you find out you can't talk to them because they didn't issue you the certificate. So, they collect the fee to provide the certificate to the time share company, then make sure they never have to provide the trip to the end consumer. Deceptive business practices like this should not be allowed to persist in the marketplace. read more

Smart Travel and Incentives set up a temporary office in our town. We attended a presentation, as it offered a FREE two night stay at Great Wolf Lodge, one of our family's favorite places to visit. The presentation was lacking in professionalism, from the card tables and folding chairs that we sat at to the employees who were not dressed for a sales setting (one employee had on jeans and flip flops). Everything about the experience told us to run, but we wanted to at least claim our "prize." We were given paperwork and went through the proper channels (which included sending a $75 "refundable" deposit in the form of a cashier's check. In short, over a year has passed and we were denied our first request, our second request, our third request...we received an email telling us we have a reservation at Great Wolf Lodge and that we OWE the FULL PRICE, for our "FREE TWO NIGHT STAY." This company is running a scam. They awarded us free travel, hotel, car rental and $50 cash card for attending a presentation in Olympia, WA. They asked for a $150 deposit. Later, I was told that the dates and places were not available. However, they would deduct $40 and could only send back $110 because I chose to cancel. Now that I'm trying to get the $110 back, they say it is too late because the travel package has expired. This company should be boycotted and permanently banned from doing business. Trying to get the travel dates you selected are an absolute joke so I had no choice but to pick these dates "Oct 3rd-5th". If I didn't choose these dates I would need to pay more $$$ I currently live in Michigan. My flight would leave Detroit around 8pm and making 1 stop in Phonex then to San Diego. I wouldn't get to SD until midnight on Oct 4th and leave the 5th at 4pm. Great Help - It sounded to good to be true & I had a sense of where it was leading, but now it confirms my gut feeling. We (my wife & I) rec'd a call from a young lady telling us that we had "won" a secondary prize of a 4 day / 3 nite trip to the Bahamas, airfare & meals/non-acholic drinks included. All we were required to pay was taxes, fees & port charges. WOW - I been out of FT work for almost 2 yrs now & no vacations in the past few years, Great ! we needed a break & maybe our luck & prayers that the New Year would finally be a turn around & positive were beginning to come true. So after some confirmation of who we were, setting up a 7pm appointment at their KeyStone Crossing address & a confirmation #, we started getting hyped up & excited. UNTIL .... This is the worst company with which I have ever dealt. The phone system does not allow you to get to a customer service rep. Every time I call it says the operator is busy and then shifts me back to the pre-recorded messages. My voucher indicates I will hear from the company 30-90 days out. The phone system indicates to call no earlier than 45 days out. I am now 33 days from the first date on our travel voucher. I have repeated emailed Customer Service to ask for assistance. The only time I've ever heard back was a month ago when I asked if anyone was actually at the other end of the email I sent. I got a two sentence reply, "We haven't started working on March yet. Look for an email from us." If I could rate this company a "minus" figure, I would. I recommend that everyone avoid them like the plague. Joanne D. read more
