This salon IS located in the Walmart (and I am saying this only because there are 2 listing for SMARTSTYLE in Covington KY area , I am not implying that Walmart has anything to do with this salon, other then lease space, at least not to my knowledge) . My first time in this salon. I was concerned when I saw only one person working, as I had only a few hrs before my Granddaughter had to be at Girl Scouts. He assured me....20 minutes at most. FIFTY minutes later, we were rushed to the room. From there it only got WORSE........ I have the worst haircut ever!! There are blunt choppy cuts, missing gaps and my "to my eyebrow please" bangs are halfway up my forehead. I kinda look like I have a BAD mullet!! At one point, when he cut my bangs, I had water dripping down my face off my chin and a hunk of hair on the side of my nose. He took several minutes, finally got a towel and dabbed some of the water off my face, leaving the hair on my face and my chin dripping. I was stunned when he asked "How's that" as he was walking away ....at this point I just wanted to cry or scream. He was done. I asked to use his blow dryer for my dripping bangs, and dabbed my still wet face. He said yes. I dried my hair. he asked me how it was...an I told him, mind you, I was trying to hold myself together....I told him of all the chops and gaps...he said he thought it looked fine. I wanted to cry!! What a mess! He asked my Granddaughter into the chair i had gotten up from and blew her hair out. Asked me if it was short enough on the sides. All I could think of was getting her the heck out of that salon! So I said it was okay. I told him again at the cash register that my hair was horrible! My words were more like...this is not good, as I was trying to keep me cool. Again, he said he thought it looked fine, "what is wrong with it? he asked", and again I showed and told him of all the chops and gaps. "No, it looks fine, he says" I was holding on to my temper at this point, but said "LOOK!! this is not my first haircut (I am in my 50's), I know bad and this BAD" Well ,I am sorry you think so, and what to you want? To not pay for it?? He said. We agreed that I would only pay for my Granddaughters cut...which I only agreed to as I wanted to run (my fight or flight had kicked in!!) outa there crying. I have since called their customer service. Crying and blathering on about my experience. A year of growing my hair back from my Chemo was destroyed, I said. What was I to do about my lost 7 or 8 inches of hair. Now all hacked away. An my Granddaughters haircut? Matter of factually, the girl on the line agreed to refund me the $ for her cut. Wait...what about my hair?!? Oh, would you like to see the manager?? she asks. OMGosh!!! So, tomorrow I will meet with the manager to see what IF anything can be done to make my hair somewhat presentable. The name of the guy who cut my hair is Michael (in case there are 2 Michael's there, this gentleman was African American about in his...maybe in his 30's) Ohhhh I should say....he comp'd her conditioning treatment. Because of our initial wait, he said. Now wasn't that nice of him. ALSO....I have hunks missing out of the back of my hair. I didn't know this until my daughter gasped when she saw me. Had me turn around for her and really about fell out!! I didn't know about the back, as he did not give me a mirror. I would have to say that I like the fact that they are taking precautions for their clients from this pandemic.

I was feeling froggy after 5 years of not dying or not using heat or anything to spice up my hair and was wanting a perm done. I called around and no one was able to fit me in that day and also everyone was pricing me around $300. I called them and set up an appointment with Pam. Pam and all other workers we're very kind and made me comfortable and talked about the process with me and the dogs and don'ts. After her carefully and pretentiously curling my hair for an hour, she took me over and washed it out. We looked for the results and she nailed it. I was beyond satisfied with her and with her and the company. I don't want anyone else to touch my hair anymore besides her. read more

This is a great place for reasonably priced hair cuts and color. Theresa is incredibly talented. You receive the same good hair cut and color that would cost more than double at one of the high-priced salons. Although they take walk-ins, you can make an appointment. It is located in the Ft. I have been going to smart style in ft. Mitchell for a long time. My stylist name is Theresa She cuts and colors my hair. I am always happy with the finish product. She is friendly and helpful when deciding what i am going to do this time. When Theresa is not available or busy I will wait for her. I am very picky and the trust is with Theresa. She moved to this shop a while back and I could not find her so when I went to Wal-Mart one day I saw her working. Thank goodness. Theresa is great and i am happy and will definitely return.... All the associates at smart style seem happy and they appear to work well together with the customers coming into the salon. read more

Just now getting to this as I was on a business trip. I went in on 1/22/19 around 4PM? I had to pick up a few toiletry items before my flight at 6AM (last minute meeting), and decided to get my hair cut. Yes, wal-mart is not the place to do that, but I was in a hurry. Go to the counter, an African American lady was on her headset for her phone, rude as can be. She ignored me. I waited. Finally, she ask what I needed. I said a Haircut? She sighs, tells me to take a seat. All I needed was a basis fade. 1/2 on the side, trim on the top with scissors. I had to stop her 5 times to explain to her she didn't know what she was doing, even though it's the easiest haircut in the world. It turned out to be a bowl cut, it was so bad I had to shave it off. There was no saving it. I went to Sports Clips to see if they could fade it, but they said it was so bad there was nothing left to do. When I checked out she didn't say thank you or come again. She just stared at me. pursing her lips. I even gave her a $2 tip to ease an awkward situation. She didn't give me a receipt and walked on to the back room. I've never been treated so poorly, or have a hair cut so bad. Why is this woman employed as barber/hair stylist? Men... stay far away from this place... especially her. read more
