This plant nursery has every exotic plant you want or didn't know existed! The pottery choices were diverse in size, color, and style! I found the prices in comparison to places like the hardware lawn and garden spots. read more

I purchased a Plant from this Nurcery had it less than a month it died! I called and spoke to the owner she said do you expect me to take a dead tree back! I'm an avid Gardner with a green thumb the tree was root bound when I bought it! I will never shop there again buyer be ware! read more

It's beautiful and they have a ton of plants but they need to get it together with their staff and consistency in pricing. We wanted to buy several bags of eucalyptus mulch from them but were literally told four different prices and it went up down down and up again. I wonder if they just didn't want our business. We purchased one of their custom hanging plants in the past and it died. When I mentioned that to them they were not helpful. Guess we are forced into buying from lowes. read more

Great place for a unique variety of plant! Unusual scope of small waterfalls as well as planters and pots!

First, great selection of plants and garden finds (books, pots, fountains wind chimes, etc.). This place is huge and has a large sun tolerant section up front (towards Dixie Hwy) of trees, shrubs and the like. On the other side of the building they have a large area of shade plants. In the large warehouse like building they have tons of great items for gifts including potted plants and other fun items. The plants are in great condition, no dying plants like you might find at Home Depot or Lowes. Second, the people who work there are super nice and knowledgeable. Third, location is great, it is so nice to have a garden center right on Dixie rather than having to drive out west. The only reason I'm not giving Smarty Plants 5 stars is due to prices. But, let me say while the prices are a little higher than the big box stores, the prices are probably better because the drive is easy (save on gas) and the plants are in much better condition and will live. read more

This is the most amazing nursery we have ever been to, and one of the most peaceful and zen-like environments with spa music piped in as you walk around to select your plants. The employees are passionate about their jobs, are kind, and extremely helpful. Amelia is a sweetheart. THE best garden center in the area, and the nicest, most helpful people.

Excellent selection of plants and accessories. Probably the best "garden center" in South Florida for the attention the owners give to their displays and the organization of their plant selections. Lots of places sell plants, Amelia's arranges their displays like you would design a garden and they provide a much wider selection. Good luck finding Bahama Coffee or Simpson Stoppers in Home Depot, Amelia's has these and hundreds of other plants that will never be found in a big box retail. The plants are well labeled, reasonably priced, and the best selection (at a retail location) for buying native plants. Oh, and they accurately list the plant characteristics on most of the plants (native/non-native, light/ growth/ water reqmts.) in the main outdoor display area. I have found the staff knowledgeable and not hard sellers; when you want info they are happy to assist, and when you want to be left alone they don't hover. The design of the facility is a sign of their attention to detail and the quality of their plants and garden items. Amelia's is what a garden center is supposed to be. read more

I called this business to see if they were interested in purchasing a very large staghorn I have in my yard, they were not and the women MARTA then when on to say that that get calls all the time and they have enough of there own. just before she was ready to hang up on me I asked if she might know anyone who was interested, she said no... okay....end of conversation I hung up phone, this women called me back and asked me if I hung up the phone on her, and then told me I was rude... Amelia's Smarty Plants is the first garden center I've visited in Florida that reminds me of the gardener's nirvana that is my California home. Let's start with open on the weekend (so many Floridian garden centers are closed on the weekend -- mind boggling), friendly and knowledgeable staff, and perfectly manicured store and garden. Add onto that an expansive selection of plants big and small, including both beautiful exotics and a VERY impressive selection of Florida native plants and you have a winner. The frosting on this cake is the design eye of the owner. Their most recent display includes massive coral stone boulders, which are absolutely fabulous. Careful as you drive by -- their landscaping is so superbly done, you could almost miss the place: the center is surrounded by large natural hedges and stone work, making for a serene, truly garden-like experience. This place is my new favorite -- kudos, Amelia & friends! read more

Breath of fresh air (literally) compared to some other local nursery's we've dealt with. These folks are professionals who care about their plants and your project. They will spend time with you showing a mind boggling array of plants - not the typical selection you see at all of the big chain garden centers. As good as it gets! This past weekend, my fiance and I decided to stop by Amelia's Smarty Plants and check out the selection. We saw the website and reviews before going to the garden center. The garden center is beautiful and the management keeps the place immaculate. Also, the selection and size of the place is much larger than it appears online or on the map. This place is simply wonderful! Very diverse selection of plants, trees, shrubs, garden tools, supplies, etc. Basically, everything you might need to a DIY project on the weekend. Marta, one of the owners, is such a beautiful person and is a delight to work with on any occasion. She is extremely friendly, knowledgeable and has a passion for her business! Most importantly, the prices are evenly matched with the quality of the merchandise (some might say they are actually 'getting a steal'). This is the kind of customer service you wish you could get at the big-box stores. Amelia's will not fail to impress you -- our new house will be decorated with landscaping using their one-one-one design service. There is no doubt that Amelia's Smarty Plants deserves the recognition and credit for their hard work and dedication. We joined YELP just to post this review.
