    Lamb Over Rice
    Samantha F.

Decided to give this spot a try because of a Door Dash deal. We were really glad we did! Great food! We ordered the Lamb over rice plate and the Philly. The lamb plate came STUFFED with meat and full of flavor. For my two sides I choose hummus and salad. Both were really good. Salad was fresh and hummus tastes homemade. The Philly was totally full of meat. Good flavor. Definitely worth the cost. We will be back! The location is easy to find. The service was adequate and we were greeted but they do work quickly. The place is small but clean and seems to be well equipped. Give them a try!

First of all for you non New Yorkers, you have to know we thrive on bodegas and cheap chicken joints. We like our food fast and we like our food on the go. A place like this is perfect to us. You walk in, order your food, pay for it and leave. Don't expect to sit. There aren't any seats. And that is okay. We keep it moving in the city. Whether consciously a subconsciously, I always survey the cleanliness of a place before I even before I look at the menu. Smash n grill is brightly lit and very clean. Again you will not find any seating and most of the real estate is taken up by the long counter. Behind the counter you will find some drink choices there's a dessert display and of course the grill. I saw many options of chicken fish and burgers. I decided to get the chicken Philly cheese steak. The Philly cheese steak sandwich is $9.99. I opted to upgrade for 4.99 more which gives you french fries and a canned soda. I don't drink soda so I was hoping for Seltzer water. He didn't have any. Sammy took my order behind the counter. Typical New Yorker. Not a lot of eye contact and very short on his answers. A visitor maybe taking back. For us it's a love language. From start to finish my order took about 15 minutes to get delivered to me. In that time patrons came in and out. Sammy was very personable and even knew some by name. One guy came in and he asked him if he wanted the shrimp. Clearly a regular and it feels good that the man behind the counter knows your order. The food came out and I sat in my car to eat. I had about an hour before shooting a music video so I got comfortable. I got barbecue sauce and smash sauce on the side as recommended by Sammy. Now keep in mind again, this is New York City. There are places like this every couple of blocks. I wasn't expecting much. I was pleasantly surprised. That Philly cheese steak was piping hot. I had to wait for it to cool to even eat it. But when I was able to bite in, it was full of flavor. It was not bland at all. A nice mix of meat and cheese and that bread was as soft as a pillow. There was also an ample amount of french fries and a separate container. The outside of the fried potato was very crispy, the inside was light and fluffy. There is a fast food restaurant that has fries like this but I cannot think of who. Maybe it's Checkers. It's a delightful and pleasant bite, but I would prefer whole potato french fries. This sits in a area that has a lot of West Indian stores and food. So smash n grill stands out as a viable option. I would eat here again. Maybe next video shoot

Situated right across from my apartment, this is the perfect place for a quick fast food option. They're halal, the staff is super chill and accomodating, and the store is spacious enough to not make you feel claustrophobic. That's uncommon for Brooklyn. You will wait if you walk in, so if you're carrying out, I'd suggest ordering in advance. They cook everything made to order, so the wait isn't bad. The food itself is pretty damn good. I'm stuck on the fried fish, but I've had a few items, from wings to the smash burgers. They have Hershey ice cream as well, which is creamy and delicious. Food hack: they can toss your fish or shrimp in Buffalo sauce if you want to lock things up a notch.

This place makes food that will ruin your day!!! My cousins and I came here because it was the only thing open late at night - we should've starved. I got the tender combo... NO FLAVOR, NO SEASONING! The fries have no crunch WHATSOEVER! The chicken has no seasoning, WHATSOEVER. The breading on the chicken was a disgrace. If I were a chicken, I'd be PISSED if this was how my life ended. My cousin got the Diablo jalapeno burger, you woulda thought she had OG Covid the way she couldn't taste the burger. The jalapeños in the burger were the only thing providing flavor. Meat, UNSEASONED. Buns, NOT SAUCED. FRIES LIMP AF!!!! The best part of our meals were the Minute Maid lemonades we got! A waste of time, money and hunger. So thanks smash-n-grill, you did a great job of ****ing up my day! Save your money and don't eat here.

A new delicious spot close to home! I hate to compare to The Munchies, but that's the reason I stopped by. The interior is very similar - bright lights, no seating, simple menu. Smash-n-Grill is a bit bigger inside and has more room for guests to wait. The menu is easy to read. But I think where this place is different is the smash burger and the ice cream offerings. I didn't try either of them because I wanted to compare the fried chicken sandwich to The Munchies. Similar in price, we got the fried chicken hero combo. It took a while to get the order, but it is expected at a new establishment. It also didn't matter because it was delicious. The chicken was juicy and seasoned well. The amount of fries are the same, but I found these to stay crunchier than The Munchies. This place is closer to me (not by much) so I'll be trying more when I'm feeling like eating some fresh, yummy food. The customer service was also great! Welcome to the neighborhood Smash-N-Grill! CASH DISCOUNT TOO!

Everything came out hot, delicious, and well seasoned. The Dungeness crab was a standout, and it was refreshing to enjoy such a wide variety of seafood and traditional dishes. My wife was pleasantly surprised by the entire meal. The interior was nicely done and felt different from many other Chinese restaurants in Brooklyn. Service was attentive, and they seated us in a corner where we could enjoy our family conversation without constant interruption. The food came out very quickly, maybe a little too quickly, but we were fine with it. Before we ordered the Mother's Day special, I specifically asked the waitress if she would like her tip in cash and she said of course! The special was $95/person plus a 20% TIP ($38) which was $228! See photo below! We ordered some other items and the waitress gave me my bill for $252.86. We then drove 10 blocks to Chase to get out cash for her. I then noticed that I was charged $298.86. It was the $252.86 plus a TIP of $45.20! I immediately returned to discuss the discrepancies. The tip that was supposed to be $38 was now $45.20! The waitress then said she would credit my account. My question was how did this happen! All three waitresses stated it was not them and that the machine did this! How was this possible? Not one of them took responsibility for the discrepancies! Had I not looked at my bank statement then I would never have known that I would be tipping her twice! I then decided to leave to explain to my mom! Then the short Indian (I think) than sarcastically stated "Oh so now you're not going to tip us" Really! I drove 10 blocks and I NEVER ONCE STATED THAT I WAS NOT GOING TO TIP HER! I merely was going to let my mom know what happened and then TIP her! Note* I was going to give her a $100 cash TIP! Had she given me the REAL receipt with the $45 TIP then I would have given her $50 CASH but since she only produced the REAL receipt after I came back (how ironic) and told her she charged the wrong amount, she would have received $100 TIP. But since the short Indian waitress made that slick remark, she did not receive anything! After the disrespect and blaming the machine and giving me a fake receipt? I decided to leave! If this is how you conduct business then you just lost a great customer! PS! The food was great!

It's got a solid, nautical feel that gives you enough brass and wood to feel like a real lobster shack. They've got a generous stretch of outdoor seating for when the weather is nice, and inside, the music sits at a good volume. Then comes the food. I started with the clam chowder. It's good ...comforting, rich, well-made ......even if it's a little light on the minced clams. I caught myself digging around with my spoon, searching for a few more chunks of clam in the creamy broth, but I forgave it because the flavor was fantastic. Main event: the Maine lobster roll. Now look, I've eaten lobster rolls all over the Northeast..and a few other places. When you order a lobster roll, you're looking for flavor and simplicity. Red Hook's roll is good. The lobster is fresh. But here's the thing: at an overall tab running around $80 a head, you expect a top-tier entry into the culinary lobster roll pantheon. Instead, it lands on the smaller side of the spectrum. Worse, the kitchen holds back on the seasoning. Lobster is sweet and rich, sure, but it needs a little help...... a hint of herbs, or just a generous hand with the salt/pepper to elevate it from good to great. It's a good roll, but when the check landed, I couldn't help feeling a bit let down. To finish, I looked at the dessert choices. Options were slim, but I ordered the flourless chocolate cake and it did the job. I'll definitely give this place a second visit and possibly try some of the other items on their menu.
