First time visiting this establishment and although I was confused at first it all worked out LOL. So you stand in line, look at the menu and order your meal. So like an upscale fast food restaurant, okay, got it! I ordered the New Jersey burger: applewood smoke bacon, blue cheese, grilled onions, and haystack onions - YES, PLEASE! I was a little disappointed that you can not order how your meat is cooked but I got over it quickly. Ordered some fries and fried pickles as well and must say I was really impressed with the food. Everything came out within minutes and there is a server that that brings your food to the table. There are only fountain drinks and its self serve so definitely room for free refills. I really enjoyed the burger it had nice flavor to it and the fried pickles were great and the fries were so delicious. Pretty good for a food chain restaurant. My first trip to SmashBurger... the first thing I notice is the friendly staff. The service is quick and my order is brought out within a couple minutes. I order the Baja Burger Smash (single with guacamole and fresh jalapeno). Size wise, I thought this just right. The meat to topping ratio was spot on. I haven't seen a Big Smash but get the feeling It would be overwhelming. I can't decide if I like the Smashfries or the Sweet Potato Smashfries more. Both tossed in rosemary, garlic and olive oil. Both freshly fried, perfectly seasoned, and not at all soggy. The Haystack Onions were thin sliced, battered and tasty but ultimately a bit greasy. With the dipping sauce, it is reminiscent of a Bloomin Onion. A few slices would make a nice burger topping but IMO too heavy of a side dish. Melissa (floor manager?) checks in on my meal and asks if all is to my liking. She makes mention of her menu favorites while handing me a sample of a new Haagen-Dazs coffee shake. She seems genuinely excited about her job and happy I am enjoying my meal. On my way out, the Store Manager asks about my experience so I mention how friendly the staff was. He responds, "anybody can make a burger... or at least try," acknowledging the importance of great service. Would I return? Yes. While heavy, I still thoroughly enjoyed my meal. I want to try Melissa's suggestions. I appreciate being valued as a customer. As more choices for designer burgers joints saturate the market, it goes to show product alone isn't enough... back to basics "service with a smile" make a world of difference in staying competitive. read more

I've been coming to this Smashburger for some time. This Smashburger is quite busy but the team does a good job at clearing tables quickly. The options here good. I haven't come across a burger or chicken sandwich I didn't like, except the BBQ which was given me in error. Which brings me to my next point. There have been times I have received the wrong order which is beyond frustrating. So be sure to check your bag before actually leaving this establishment with your take-out. Actually, even when you dine-in you might come across a minor but faulty detail like I did at my last visit. Ordered a Smashchicken which on the menu advises that it comes with a multi-grain bun. When I realized my order was made with an egg bun, I decided to tell the manager. He very nice, apologized and even presented me with a voucher for a free entre due to their error which both surprised and delighted me. So glad they possess excellent customer service skills. Burgers are flavorful. Chicken is thin and can sometimes be a little bland. The crispy chicken is thicker and juicy. I've enjoyed their kid's meal (chicken fingers) and their milkshakes are always slamming. The only thing I did not enjoy here is their salads. Lack freshness and flavor and its price tag is hefty. But their salads have just become terribly disappointing. For one, they just don't put any lettuce. There is barely any lettuce in my salad. And this isn't the first time. It's all the time. Lettuce is CHEAP. Fill up the bowl. My take out bowl was half empty. And can you please cut up your chicken? Usually you're just a bit lazy and at least cut it in slices. Tonight was the worst of it. I think one slice was made. I spent 15 minutes prepping my salad between cutting the chicken and taking out the 4lbs of red onion. They used to have good salads. Being a self-proclaimed burger snob, I was pleasantly surprised with my first visit to Smashburger; I've been meaning to try it out but with the burger bubble in full effect there are ever more places to get an awesome burger close by. This location is conveniently located off Rt. 3 and in the same shopping plaza as a Trade Joe's; wish I knew this beforehand. The restaurant is clean and minimalistically decorated in red; kind of like that other burger chain. On to the burgers: I had the baja burger which is served with pepper jack cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, guacamole, jalapenos and chipotle mayo on a fresh baked chipotle bun. The burger was surprisingly very good and above all super fresh. All of the ingredients from the veggies to the meat and the bun were as fresh as could be, something I was not expecting and occasionally, at other burger spots, overshadowed by grease. The burger patty was a nice size, juicy, and flavorful and combined with the rest of the fresh ingredients made a great burger! We also had the classic smashburger, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, which was also very tasty and fresh! We also had the rosemary fries which were perfectly fried, crispy and hot, with a hint of rosemary. All in all, a solid burger option amongst a very tough and competitive crowd. I've come here many times to satisfy my burger cravings. Friendly staff, quick service and an amazing burger. After my most recent visit I've felt compelled to write a review of one of the best burgers I've had in a while. The limited release Colorado burger. This Colorado burger is topped with green chilies, TWO cheeses (pepper jack and cheddar) on a yummy spicy chipotle bun. I went with the big version and upon first bite the melted cheddar exploding in my mouth mixed with the pepper jack set this burger completely off. The heaping amount of grilled green chillies with every bite was extraordinary. Overall, a superb burger and I will be back to enjoy while its around. (Note-I did come back the next day for lunch but they was disappointed to find out they were out of green chillies so I opted for my usual New Jersey burger) The New Jersey burger, another beast of a burger in its own right. As always go for the big version. This is my go-to choice and is a great option with the power topping combo of bacon, blue cheese and hay stack onions. This is a decent enough location of Smashburger. The one issue I have with this location is the beverage machine is a simple soda machine rather than the more advanced multi-selection machines where you can craft any soda you want, but more so the fact that they don't have the carbonation on this machine set high enough. I wouldn't say the soda is flat but it is definitely not up to the standards I believe carbonated beverages should be. When you come to the taste of the burger I would say this location can vary slightly as the most recent burger we had the pub double triple was excellent although the last time we were there before the burger was very salty. At the same time we had our last burger before the machine was out of ice Had to go get ice from the supermarket. And all the other locations of Smashburger we been to take a number and sit down and they bring your food to you so the only way you have is to pay for the food which is nice. bathrooms are located on the way down the hallway on the left side of this location and you don't have to clean the third left your gun because they do that for you as well. read more

Been here a few times. Nothing really bad to say- probably about 3.5 starts/5. I've tried 3 or 4 different burgers but my favorite by far is the BBQ Bacon Cheese. Bacon is awesome, crunch and delicious as bacon should be. The patty is very good too. I would prefer a little more BBQ sauce and maybe cheesiness. But the patty was good and so was the burger overall. Sides are hit or miss. Not a fan of the fried pickles or the regular fries. I did like the sweet potato smash fries. Haystack onions are a little greasy; I would recommend the sweet potato fries (either the regular or the 'smash' with garlic and rosemary). They also have milkshakes and salads. I haven't tried either but have heard they are pretty good. Service is always great. Very consistent, friendly, and somewhat attentive (more than I would expect). One nice things is that if you join the 'Smash Club' you end up getting a lot of free coupons and things so that is a nice incentive to go. read more

They were very attentive and friendly, much more than what I expected from a burger chain. I got the Bacon Avocado Chicken sandwich since it was on their recommended menu. Along with Smash fries and shakes totaled about $15. Definitely wasn't a cheap meal. I think the milk shake is definitely worth the price as they don't just fill the glass to top but also bring the leftovers. The fries were pretty good, thinly cut and sprinkled with rosemary herbs and olive oil. But I thought the bottom were kind of greasy and the price weren't very good. My least favourite was the burger... Unfortunately I felt like the chicken were overly grilled and pretty thinly cut for a $7 sandwich. One word, surprised. I came here because my daughter and her BFF wanted me to take them out for lunch recess. When you walk in it's the typical chain food look. I'm a pescatarian, so wasn't exactly expecting to find anything on the menu for me. I was happily surprised to see they had a ranch avocado black bean burger so I ordered. Out came my order and I thought "oh no, this doesn't look good", then I took a bite and was blown away!! It was delicious! Very flavorful and soft, not dry at all. The manager Renee was great and really helpful when my coupon was couple days off. This was one of the worst experiences we've ever had going into a smash burger or any fast food establishment. The management treated us like an S.S Gestapo. They give you an illusion that you can dine in with the tables marked off for in dining, but after you order they tell you you can't dying in. Were very elusive with their services and very poor and the way they spoke to you as a customer. If I were the owner I would be re-organizing or doing some heavy start over training with my staff. I spent 35 years in a food business and I cannot believe the way we were treated. On the way out I asked for mayonnaise to go and they took so long that I said don't worry about it and just left. You can get grilled chicken, veggie burgers, sweet potato fries, whole wheat buns, fried pickles and all the toppings your heart desires. Aside from that, their burgers are made from Angus beef which I will assume is free of the pink slime everyone is so desperately trying to avoid of late. Clean/new place with super nice employees and tons of parking. The employees are friendly and work hard to make sure you're happy with your meal. The burgers are good (although dripping with fatness). I wouldn't recommend the deep fried pickles (I found them too salty). The chicken sandwich/burger consisted of a VERY thin piece of chicken. It was tender, but it had better be after getting the sh*t beat out of it. The BEST thing about this place (food-wise) is the milk-shakes. Not only are they delicious, they are also affordable. Went to this SmashBurger on 2 occasions and had nothing but great things to say about it. First time - got an All American burger. I thought that smashing the burger was going to make it dry and hard. In reality the burger came out very good, well seasoned, and juicy! My date also ordered a milkshake with her burger. Had a taste and almost stole the rest for myself. Second time - I was not feeling a burger so tried a chicken salad. Although it had a very (almost too) generous amount of cheese and bacon, the chicken was phenomenal. I noticed that they Smashed the chicken cutlet too and it had a similar juicy taste compared to the burger I had the previous time. The only negative would be the fries. I like a thicker cut fry, while the ones they serve are relatively thin. Honestly its more of a preference then criticism. All in all, I had a blast at SmashBurger. We went here for lunch today. The hubby ordered the Classic Smash (his usual) and I decided to switch things up and ordered the Avocado Club Grilled Chicken. This is the first time I strayed from my favorite sandwich, the New Jersey Smash. We also added an order of the Sweet Potato Smashfries to share. My husband loved his sandwich and devoured it in no time. The Avocado Club comes with both mayo and ranch dressing on it. I thought it to be a bit overkill so I asked for mine without the mayo (who needs the extra fat and calories anyway??). The chicken sandwich was delicious. I'm glad that I decided to branch out and try something new. My stomach wasn't feeling so great this morning, so I knew a burger would be out of the question. The chicken hit the spot. I now have two sandwiches which I will be alternating between. The Sweet Potato Smashfries were nice and crispy, just the way I like them. I need to add a section about the customer service. The cashier was very friendly. Our food came out promptly and was as ordered. Not one, but two different employees came over to check on us while we were eating to see if we needed anything else. Went here with my wife to check out a new burger place and it's closer to us than Five Guys. I had the BBQ Bacon burger and my wife had a burger with bacon and cheese. Both were the 1/3 pounder. We knew from experience to ask how big was an order of fries (based on Five Guys regular fries which is huge) when we were shown the basket that the fries come in we agreed to split an order. The burgers were tasty, a little smaller than I would have liked. The buns were very good. The fries on the other hand, terrible. Tough, not hot and probably not fresh and barely filled the basket they came in. For the same money, I'll drive a little further and keep going to Five Guys. My review is actually 2.5 stars but I'll be nice! I've been here a few times and it's a reasonably priced place for standard burgers and fries. However, the last time I was here was pretty blah for a few reasons: 1. The egg bun- I'm not sure why this is a thing, but it just doesn't work with a hamburger. A bagel, sure, not a hamburger bun...just not right. 2. The fries- they are always extremely greasy and they're hard to stomach after a few handfuls, expecially the seasoned ones. 3. Service- when I was ordering my food, the cashier kept turning around to the cooks and talking/making jokes/flirting with other cashier etc. and it was pretty rude. Another Burger Place Down!! Went for a quick lunch today. Place is clean, servers were really nice and attentive. The burgers were quite good, my pal and I had the BBQ Bacon Cheddar (which was good, but a little sweet, with really good fried onions!) and the All American (good classic burger, but the Smash sauce was very egg-y to us). They were regular, not smash size, but more than enough. The fries, though not looking great, were really good, and I Loved the fried pickles!! We also had the nutter butter shake, which was okay, not peanut-y at all, but still a good shake. Okay, true, it's a burger joint but from the moment we walked in the Clifton Smashburger everything about the place was on point. The floors and counters were clean, employees bustling around and the woman at the register taking our order was friendly and helpful to everyone with whom we saw her deal. We had the truffle mushroom Swiss and avocado club burgers and sweet potato smash fries. It was all served to our table promptly, about 3-4 minutes, by a friendly server. As we ate we decided the truffle mayo from my burger might go well with the fries. I got up to ask for a side and still another friendly server brought it to our table within a minute or two. As soon as we finished, another employee was quick to politely ask if we'd like him take away our plates. Yes, its fatty but who cares, every good tasting burger/fries/shakes are fatty. Just hit the gym, LA fitness is right there (planet fitness is even cheaper). If you dont workout, then dont complain about good tasting fatty food. Fries - very thin/skinny, but nice and crispy with rosemary and garlic which you can actually taste. Oreo Milkshake - my fav.
