Smash fries were tasty but exceptionally greasy; had to roll them in napkins to make them edible. Now the Häagen-Dazs® Ice Cream Salted Carmel shake was the bomb! Very pleasant surprise. Served old style in classic tall shake glasses with the extra served on the side in the stainless mixing tumbler. That alone would make me return and to retry sweet potato fries. read more

Smashburger used to make a really good burger. They were large, full of taste, so juicy that they practically fell apart. Today, the burger I had was of average size, bland, and dry. On top of that, the combo was almost twelve dollars, which is not only above average but way, way more than it is worth. It doesn't stop there. Every worker there is falling all over their own chipperness with every interaction. I feel so sorry for whatever management hell they have to endure that convinces them that it's a good idea to act like such fake people. The smash fries were pretty good though. read more

First off, I agree with Erik. This place is no replacement for Five Guys! That said, the burgers are very good and the "smash fries" are amazing. They are prepared with olive oil, rosemary and garlic sprinkled on top. My stand-by burger is the Spicy Baja (pepper jack, guacamole, lettuce, onion, tomato, chipotle mayo, fresh jalapeños on chipotle bun). I like to add the fried pepper rings to my order for the extra zip. Smashburger does do "taste" better then Five Guys, meaning they have better combinations of ingredients suggested, whereas Five Guys makes you pick from a list every time. Other standout features: You can buy beer & wine and most importantly, you can add a fried egg to your burger! read more

Multiple bun and cheese choices, both 1/3 and 1/2 pound burgers, super-thin and crispy fries, haystack onion rings, fried pickles, and a great beer selection. Ran out to Smashburger for late lunch. I am a burger connoisseur extraordinaire, enjoying Wendy's, Fuddruckers, White Castle's, Steak n Shake, and the king of ALL burgers that is Kuma's Corner. I went to Smashburger and ordered a 1/2 lb burger with mushrooms, fried egg, pepper jack cheese, bacon, a diet coke, and something called "veggie frites". This cost me a whopping $16.00!!! Got the burger pretty quick, it was EXTREMELY greasy, makes Steak n Shake look like a health food burger. Then the guy who took my order came out and says, "sorry, we forgot the mushrooms", and gives me the shrooms in a little cup". Now I'm curious, I look in the burger, and they forgot to add the bacon as well. I have to go back in and get it. Needless to say, I won't be coming back here. "CRAPBURGER" is a much more appropriate name for this place. read more

I've previously been to (and reviewed) the Brown Street location, but this was my first trip to the mall-area restaurant. The burgers are greasy but delicious, and the smashfries are greasier and deliciouser. What really wowed me about this location is their efficiency. We went in on a Friday night, and the restaurant was packed--so I started panicking about finding a table. They had several staff members bussing tables the minute people left, and another member of the staff was directing people to the empty tables like a hostess. Called ahead to ask if they used MSG in their food and was told they did not, since they supposedly are more natural. When we got our meal it was absolutely delicious but absolutely full of MSG. We had the worst reaction: heart palpitations, shortness of breath and spiking blood pressure. The food is yummy but the employees need to know that there is MSG in the food and not to tell people that the food is safe when it isn't. :/ read more

Long hair in my burger! Went here because I had a coupon. This franchise store would not honor what they called a corporate coupon even though the electronic phone ad sent me here. Oh well. Bought the family meals anyway just to find the worlds longest hair in mine. They gave me a refund but I left without eating. The manager was just too busy to visit my table. No one else in Dayton should sell a hamburger. If they attempt to, they should be shunned like a Leper. The burgers from another restaurant are inferior and most likely not real meat. There is not other explanation why Smash Burger hamburgers "and french fries" are so much better that all the rest. I was pleasantly surprised at how good everything tasted at Smashburger. Our party of 4 each had something different. We sampled the fries (seasoned and plain), milkshakes, burgers, and a salad; everyone was equally pleased. They have a large outdoor seating area, each table having its own umbrella, which was very nice. The service, though, is what made this a 5 star visit. The woman who took our order was so nice and very helpful. She gave great suggestions, brought our food outside to us, and came out to check on us. This is my first and last time coming to Smash burger. Thought we'd give this place a try. I ordered the truffle mushroom single and my son ordered a classic smash single and large regular (not smash) fry. Positives- the place is clean, tables were clean, no line. Negatives- the patties on the burger were thinner than the thinnest McDonald's hamburger, was dry as shoe leather. The fries were not hot and we're very dry, had to drown them in ketchup and they were still barely edible, for a large fry quantity was more like small to medium, definitely not large. My son's burger was the same, super thin and very very dry. Price for what we got- I could get a hamburger kids meal at McDonald's and have more food at a much more reasonable cost. Off to go get some a little something else to eat from somewhere else. read more

This was my first experience with Smashburger. The burgers we had were good (I had a mushroom swiss with bacon and my husband had a Buckeye). They were generous with the mushroom and the bacon was crispy. I was excited to try the veggie frites, but they were not at all what I was expecting. I figured they would be tempura battered, but they were just green beans and baby carrots thrown into the fryer and heavily seasoned with salt and pepper. Lame. I should have just ordered the seasoned shoestring fries, which were quite tasty. I also was disappointed by the shakes which were nothing special. In fact, they were pretty runny and lacking in flavor. I have had better at Jack-in-the-Box, unfortunately. read more

A regular stop of mine for a lunchtime bite. While I'd rather this place were a local rather than national chain, until D-town gets its own, Smashburger will work quite nicely. read more

Smashburger is another burger chain, similar to Five Guys. (I'm not complaining b/c hey, who doesn't like a good burger?) My favorite is the Buckeye, minus the lettuce, and with a fried egg added on. The service is quick, but this location can be rather crowded at times. Also, I'd suggest sticking to the normal fries instead of the sweet potato fries. (Then again, I'm not a huge fan of sweet potatoes.) All in all, Smashburger is a nice (pricier) alternative to the regular fast-food fare. read more

We love the food...everything has been good here...the burgers, the dogs, the salads, the shakes etc...easily crushes 5 Guys. The problems: They built this location way too small. It's often too crowded and you're standing around waiting for a seat to open up. Another issue is the price of their hot dogs. The Chicago dog is great...but I can get the exact same thing at Sonic for half the price. I was going to say that they have been conscientious about food allergens, however I just pulled up their recent allergen menu and realize that we've been lied to about there not being egg product in the fries. Really eggs in the fries? ...not just produced on the same line with but actually contains egg allergen. They just lost two stars and a lot of business. read more

Don't order online. You go in and they don't cross reference your first and last names. You tell the young lady your last name to claim your order, but your first name is written on the bags sitting under the heat lamps, and the young woman doesn't bother to match your first and last names on the computer screen to see if the bags getting soggy under the heat lamps actually belong to you. I waited for 15 minutes before another worker took the time to match the first name to the last name. Never got an apology. Oh, and I had specified no jalapenos on my sandwich, and of course, I got jalapenos. read more

Good tatsing burger. Not sure it's worth some of the raves I have heard about it, but it' definitely has repeat visit potential. This was my first foray at Smashburger. I had the 1/3lb. BBQ, Bacon and Cheese Burger w/th regular fries. The burger had good flavors and was cooked well, but the Mcdonald's mimicked fries were so-so. My fiancee and a party right next to us both commented on how it reminded them of "Steak N Shake". Not sure that's the comparison Smashburger wants but it kinda fits. This restaurant literally only serves 2 things... Hamburgers and Chicken Patty Burgers. Bun quality is poor, hamburgers fall apart easily. I ordered a side of "veggie frites", but they were so salty I couldn't eat them. It's also very expensive for the amount of food you're getting. read more

I'm a Smashburger fan - great burgers, great chicken sandwiches. I eat here because the food is good, and I often have a coupon on my phone from a coupon app. Today they told me that in the future, they won't accept the coupon on my phone - it has to be printed out. The problem is that I can't print from my phone, and since this is on an app, not a website, I can't print it from a computer, either. I like this place, but if they won't accept phone coupons their company put on the app, I will likely stop coming. read more
