I didn't look at reviews or pictures before choosing this place but an airport employee recommended so we ran with it. A burger sounded perfect for a couple hour layover and not having much that day. The server was good. Pretty attentive at first. He was a little slow coming back at the end but he was nice and efficient. The burger was really good too. The flavor great. Pepperjack and cheddar cheese along with green chilies perfectly accompanied it. Glanced through the pics when checking in and that featured photo would have turned me off. This location is a "seat yourself" situation which is great but some times the staff misses you. It didn't take very long to be noticed by my waitress but I did see a few other travelers that waited for service. Regardless, I had 40 minutes to sit down, order, and eat before my next flight. I thoroughly enjoyed how quick my food came out and with my check. During my travels, I have always felt the need to ask for my check with my food or scramble to get it after waiting forever, but this was not the case. The spicy burger with smash fries definitely satisfied my hunger. This was a step up from fast food which was what I was looking for. It was extremely warm, but they pull down the blinds to prevent the sun heating up that room. There's only so much you can control and I eventually cooled down. Sat down, had an hour and 30 minutes until our flight. Got our food within 30 minutes of sitting down, it tasted great. I had ordered their sauce, the smash sauce. I had to remind her after I had gotten my food to bring me my sauce. Two people in my group had ordered a milkshake, it hadn't come out until about an hour of us sitting down. We had to remind another employee, not our waiter that we had a milkshake and had to remind our waiter THREE times. Milkshake took 15 minutes after our fourth time of reminding. I went to Smashburger for dinner tonight. Waited for 10 minutes for them to tell me that only the bar area was open for dining. I sat down and ordered a double smash and a chocolate shake. They said they have no ice cream so no shake for me so I just went with water instead with the double smash. The couple next to me received their burgers in 20 minutes but it was completely raw and they could only partially eat the meal. I proceeded to wait 45 minutes and then I am told that the kitchen has now closed and no food would be coming out. There was less than 15 people in the restaurant and they could not even serve that small set of customers. The restaurant was completely dirty and gross so glad I actually did not eat there. Do yourself a favor and eat ANYWHERE else. This is a poor excuse for a Smashburger and I will not be coming back. The sad thing here is that I never even got a chance to eat the food. Apparently making a burger was too challenging for this restaurant and that is all that they do. Looking forward to the next restaurant that will take its place. read more

The young lady working the register this afternoon very obviously hates her job. She was the only one working the front counter and was moving at near glacial pace. The guy in front of me orders a salted caramel milkshake and she started to feign crying. Maybe she was really going to cry, but she caught herself at the last second. Shocked at her reaction, the customer then apologizes - "Oh my, I don't have to order the shake" - as if he's somehow to blame for burdening her so much. I felt sorry for this lady - she was probably having a rough day. But the line to order was getting longer and longer and she very intentionally responded by moving significantly slower than normal. This was the worst experience I have had at a Denver airport bar. A portion of the bar "wasn't being served", most of the beers were out, and there were only 3 people working in the whole restaurant. When I asked about ordering I was told I had to "ask Zach" and then was subsequently ignored. I raised my hand and then the bartender got mouthy with me saying "you don't have to wave for attention". I'm a fan of Smashburger. So I was pleased when I hopped off of a flight, famished, and saw a restaurant there. I made my way across the super busy terminal to purchase a burger before my next flight. Got in line. Got close to the counter to order. Was told that the couple in front of me was the last order of the night. ????? I get that restaurants have operating hours and they have to close at some point. But inside an airport the hours need to revolve around flight schedules. If you have flights arriving at 9pm, and more flying out an hour later you can't just shut down at 9. But it wasn't even being cut off that ticked me off the most. It was that the guy at the counter was an absolute prick about it. The restaurant obviously doesn't have to depend on repeat business. They bank on people stopping by on a random connecting flight and never having to talk to them again. But what they forget is that their attitude reflects on the chain as a whole. The staff is super helpful and very attentive when they aren't being harassed by the middle aged manager whose harassment and unnecessary commentary spills over to the customers. I was slightly distracted because some things that were on the menu were not available for purchase unless you sat down and dined in. In this writer's opinion, Smashburger qualifies for just such a warning. While the Airport location is more expensive than regular locations I did not think it was bad for a burger and fries. It was around $15. At first I thought it was ala carte.
