The bun was soft lettuce was crunchy tomato's pickle cheese honestly probably one of the best burgers I ever tasted. Tried here before my departure. Service - not fault of the people working but need more than one counter person taking orders and giving out the food at the same time. Took 10-15 mins for the food to be given which was disappointing as my family finished their meal from somewhere else by the time I got back. The lady that helped was courteous and friendly. Food - was fresh made and hot. Smash fries that I had but did not get picture of. Was oily and over fried, extra crispy. They have plenty of eating area, we spent 32 dollars in total for 2 people which is a good price. The buger meat was very tasty and the sweet potato fries were overfilled and crisp. I know the airport is very stressful but sitting down and enjoying a not super overpriced meal makes it better. On a layover at Toronto Pearson airport and thought I'd give it a try. Food was good and quick (as fast food should be), but the counter and floor were absolutely filthy. There was ketchup smeared all over the countertop where people were picking up their orders. The staff just ignored it while leaning on the back counter shooting the breeze with each other. It would have hurt to run a cloth over it and wipe up the mess rather than place orders down in it. read more

There's really not much to Smashburger. It's a fast food burger joint in Terminal 3 Departures at Pearson Airport in Toronto. It's a very busy location with not enough seating. The food is decent but not outstanding. The prices are a tad high but that's to be expected from an airport location. The portions are a bit on the small side. I had their Truffle Mushroom Swiss burger with sautéed crimini mushrooms & truffle mayo on an egg bun, and a side of truffle fries. While the flavour was nice, it was a little greasy and on the small side, which left me wanting more, especially for the price. A double patty would be better. The folks with smaller appetites might disagree. I don't fly much anymore but I'm happy to see so many choices of restaurants at the airport these days. We ordered the Jalepeno BBQ which was sloppy and falling apart because of all the sauce and fresh jalapeños. Just the way I like it. I would get that again. Also tried the smashfries which was...okay. It really needs to be made more fresh. Not even as good as jack in the box garlic fries. And the other gripe I have is the size of the burger. When it arrived I was surprised to see that it was barely even bigger than a Junior Chicken. * The menu said the burger has avocado in it. NOPE. Came with guacamole. Thats like saying this burger comes with fries and then giving you a bowl of mashed potatoes. * I'll extended an olive branch here, the guacamole wasn't too terrible. 2) Taste * Came with a multigrain bun which was not even toasted properly. * The chicken was bone dry. No seasoning, juice, or flavour of any kind. 3) $ * Cost me 15 bucks and all I got was the urge to make a yelp account. * And thats 15 for a burger and water bottle, no side. All that being said, this place has potential. They've got original burgers on their menu with some cool toppings, but the execution is lacking. Imagine my surprise when I was coming back from a conference in the US and ran right into a Toronto based Smashburger. Just to set the scene, this was a Saturday in April, 4:30 pm and I ordered a classic Smashburger, no onions and a medium soft drink. Paid my tab - just under $12 Canadian and I am filling up my soft-drink when I hear my number called. Damn, my heart sinks. Five Guys always cooks to order but the only way I could get my burger is if they have pre-cooked, par-broiled burgers in a warmer. I take my burger and drink and open the paper wrapping and sure enough, the american cheese us un-melted, the burger is extremely well, well, well done and only warm. To add insult to injury, they gave me bloody onions on this re-heated embarrassment. Please Canada, stop setting for this type of mediocrity. We deserve better. Go to a Five Guys some time, or a local mom and pop place that gives a damn to see what made to order is really like. read more

We grabbed some food here quick while waiting for a flight. We had a classic burger, avocado chicken burger and chicken strips for my daughter. The food here is great, but really pricy and you have to pay for fries and drinks separately. To get a burger, fries and drink is about $13. There are no combos, except for the kids menu items. Staff were ok, it was really busy so they weren't really friendly. The girl forgot my drink and I had to ask for it. The food came fairly quick so that was a plus. Ok I know this is airport food and I am aware that causes many limitations and special circumstances that puts airport food on a different level then regular food. This is 1/5 on an airport food level, which is very bad. I spent $20.99 on an avocado chicken club burger a side fries and chocolate shake. Not one of these items was salvageable. Not even the shake. From half way down it was solid freezer burnt vanilla ice cream that tasted more bland then no name. The fries were rock hard and had the texture of twigs. The sandwich was extremely greasy and oil coated the wrapper and quickly went to work on the bun, to turn that to mush. The patty was very rubbery and had no seasoning or breading that I could taste. The only place I end up eating cause the other selections aren't my jam. Every time I travel and have a lay over I end up eating here. I always say to myself I'm going to try something else but gravitate here cause it's fast. The thing is I always order is the Swiss mushrooms chicken burger with truffle fries. It's hit and miss cause sometimes it's salty as fuck. We did try out the Swiss beef mushroom burger and that was less salty. Both are good but not good good if you know what I mean. Fair prices considering we were at the airport! Got the avocado chicken burger, Cobb salad and the harvest salad. We added chicken to both the salads for and additional $2.30. I found the prices here to be super fair as other restaurants would charge $5 for adding chicken to the salad. It came to be around $10-11 for each of the salads. The salads were delicious and I really enjoyed how the chicken was freshly made and warm rather than cold chicken that come with prepackaged salads. Had lunch at Smashburger on Sunday 10 December, 2017. Waited 15 minutes to get my food. Staff was not nice at all. The burger was not good, but that's nothing compared to the staphylococcus in it. While waiting for my flight I started to feel really bad. Had to got vomit and defecate during the flight. I had to do it again three times at the arrival airport on my way to the cab. I had my first Smash at Newark Airport some years ago and have been waiting for Smash to come to Toronto. Their blackbean burger for vegetarians is one of the best. Worth the wait - very good.
