Eh. Nothing great here. I think this is more hype than substance. This is an over-priced fast food place. It's like Mickey D's meets Chipotle. It has an upscale-ish fast food feel and somewhat fresh food. I had the Baja Burger. It had fresh(ish) guacamole and raw jalepenos. This yelper likes her fire. It was nicely balanced with the cool of the guac, so that was nice. No one asked how I liked my burger, so it's a bit of a one-size-fits-all sort of thing, like McDonalds. I asked if they had onion rings. They suggested the Haystacks. I should have stuck with fries. The Haystacks were gross. They were like pieces of a twice-fried, overly greasy part of an Outback Bloomin' Onion. They were in no way outstanding and sat like a grease filled rag in the bottom of my stomach. Yuck. I may return and try the same burger with chicken or a bean burger, but I won't do the beef and definitely won't do the Haystacks. The salads could be options also. Definitely better than any fast food burger stop. It's in that Shake Shack category (which is also awesome) but this place has so awesome flavor combos. I opted for the Mushroom, Swiss and truffle chicken sandwich. It was super yummy! Gotta love truffle mayo. The mushrooms were well seasoned too. And the chicken was moist and juicy. The sweet potato smash fries were some of the best ones I've had! They were in olive oil and rosemary. Super flavorful. Crunchy, but a still soft center. Mmmmm. Highly recommend these. The only downside was the salted caramel milkshake was basically vanilla with a dash of caramel...nothing like you get with a true caramel flavor...boo. I am torn between 3/4 stars, but settled on the 3. The burgers are good but are sometimes overladen with sauce, creating a pretty messy eating scenario where the taste of the meat patty is mostly overwhelmed. The fries are VERY thiny cut to the point of resembling potato chip level crispiness. Taste-wise, not as good as the fries at Shake Shack or the truffle fries at Zinburger. Paid $1 for guac add-on and it was a SMALL spoonful that I got on my burger, didn't even cover the entire patty. I typically go with the Spicy Baja given my affection to dial it up. The highlight of the Spicy Baja is the chipotle mayo for me which i also like to dip my fries in. I just love this place.... fast food with a restaurant mentality. You place an order form a very simple menu, go get your own drink, sit down and 5 minutes later your food is brought to you. You eat, and the then just leave your trays on the table that the staff is enfatic about. I felt kind of guilty, but they just made us feel natural about it asking us to leave it with a smile. Surprisingly good. We came in for a quick bite and had pretty low expectations, as far as semi-fast food joints go, so we were pleasantly surprised at the great experience we had. I didn't enjoy the cattle-chute style entrance way that's set up, and wish that it had been a bit less narrow--but this is a minor quibble because outside of peak lunch / dinner hours, I can't imagine you'll be in line long enough for it to matter. I had the chicken burger, which was a (large) premade fast-food style patty, served mouth-blisteringly hot. I didn't try the burgers, but my family said that they were well-cooked and tasty (if a bit unusual for the smashed nature). We also really enjoyed the fried onions--they were crispy and flavorful. My primary complaint is that the table was a little dirty, and our waitress seemed a harried--but I'll chalk that up to a lunch hour rush. Would definitely return. read more

On my most recent order one of the two burgers ordered via Uber Eats was undercooked (rare in the middle), and both tasted on par with public school cafeteria burgers...flavorless. Buns were stale. The "truffle" burger had no truffle sauce. The classic smash was missing most of the standard items....not customizations, but STANDARD items (lettuce, tomato, smash sauce). Very disappointing. On the phone they said they'd issue a refund, but I have yet to receive any notification saying that one was coming. Do yourself a favor and just go to Shake Shack down the street. read more

Eh, it's pretty standard and the food tastes like all the other Smashburger. We come here whenever we are stuck charging our car and that's probably the only reason why we'll come here. We've had their Baja burger, their chicken burgers, the Jersey burger. While the offerings are cool, however the burgers are slightly greasy. Their salads are very weak, the lettuce is usually a bit dull/on its way out and they pretty much just toss a piece of meat on top of the lettuce. For the price you are paying, I think there are definitely better places to go for a "better than your average fast food place." read more

I was excited to try Smashburger because 1. I love burgers and 2. they have a TON of toppings. My excitement diminished after receiving my New Jersey Burger at my table. With seven toppings and condiments, the burger looked diminutive. The patty itself looked dry, and after a bite, it was overcooked and dry. Not all was bad. This place should be called Saltburger. I've never had a burger so salty in my life. It was also a total grease bomb. I've never unwrapped a burger before to have pools of grease leak out of the wrapper. Not good when you're eating in your car because the restaurant is a noisy mess full of families with screaming and misbehaved kids on a Friday evening. As I ate the burger, it was literally dripping with grease. I wondered if they either used super fatty meat or else they fried the patties in butter. It was gross. The fries weren't any better. Oversalted shoestring fries, most not more than an inch long. However, the portion was big and definitely enough to share among two or three people. Between the salt and the grease, I felt so uncomfortable after eating here, like I had a brick in my stomach kind of feeling. Definitely will not be returning. Would much rather grab a burger and fries at The Fireplace just down the road. So much better food-wise and atmosphere-wise. Actually, any local diner cooks a better burger and fries than Smashburger. Yuck. Oh yeah, additional note: Their website clearly says that they paint "the grill with real butter, adding a dash of our secret spice blend". That explains the grease and the saltiness. The nice thing about chain restaurants is that they're pretty much the same wherever you go. This location of the Smash Burger franchise is no different. You walk in and place your order. You pay for your order. You find a table, place your number tag on the table, and wait for someone to bring your order out to you. This place was full, but not crowded during the Saturday lunch rush (2pm). They were quick in taking our order, friendly, and the order came out quickly to our table. Kudos to the staff for being efficient and quick. As for the food - some people like Smashburger, some people don't. I think it's OK. A better alternative to fast food, but on par with the other burger joints that have been popping up in the area. I got the chicken sandwich with avocado - it's just a basic sandwich. I'm not Anthony Bourdain where I will criticize every part of that sandwich and talk about the medley of flavors the sandwich has or lacks. Enjoyed the veggie options not found in other burgers places that we frequent. Had the avocado bean "burger" with cheese, lettuce and tomato. Tasty and filling. The ratio is a little off to me. Next time, I'll ask for double cheese and still skim off some of the outside edges of the bean patty that hung well outside the bun. My partner ordered a bacon-egg-cheeseburger. He likes being able to customize his burgers. Says on burger alone, he'd still go to Five Guys. But being able to add the egg was enjoyable. The veggie frites (green beans and carrots, lightly fried) are a great alternative to fried potatoes. Don't need the ranch dressing that comes with them. On the down side, there was a slight mix up in the order. The extra patty ordered for our dogs ended up on the veggie burger instead of the cheeseburger. In this case, not a big deal. Gotta go slow and watch carefully for the turn in. It's slightly beyond the parking lot. We accidentally turned at the building before and hit a nasty pothole. Last, the price. Here's where 1 star was lost. As good as the food was, our tab (with one soda, no shake or french fries) was $23. About 15% more than our usual Five Guys tab. We went to the counter several times to ask about it and they always reply "yes, it is coming out now". At the end, when we finished eating ready to leave, I went back for a refund, they said "why refund, it is already made". I said "I don't want it now, I want a refund, the really rude waiter did not apologize or anything. She said "Well, if you want a refund, get on the line". Really rude. My first time at Smashburger so I had to go with the Classic. I ordered it without the lettuce and tomato because tomato's are not in srason now. The burger was so juicy it was running down my hands! I also had the onion straws as a side. They were very good but a bit too greasy. My daughter had the BBQ Bacon burger and she said it was perfect. She also had the Smashfries and they were amazing. It tasted fresh, light and not drenched in oil. Burger remained in one piece as I ate it which is awesome and hard to find at many restaurants. Burger was flavorful but lacked just a bit. I wish there were more avocados and an egg to top it off but burger was still delicious! Location is a bit tricky as it is on 17 North and without a prominent sign. Wow!!! Smash Burger was definitely better than I expected. The burgers weren't the slightest bit dry and made my mouth water before I even took a bite. In addition, customer service was great. The employees were friendly and the managers took the time to ask the guests if their visit was satisfying. The line was long, but to my surprise, the wait was extremely short (no longer than 5-10 minutes). The restaurant, itself, was very clean and well kept. Smash Burger hit the ball out of the park.
