It was in what I would expect to be the main room, which was very open, clean, and welcoming. There's a stage up front and the rest of the room is clear hardwood floors: perfect for a dance class but it'd work for a multitude of events. The entire center seems new, and I was definitely impressed by the grounds, complete with basketball courts and a soccer field. While Clarkston may have never been on my radar before this event, they're certainly lucky to have a community center like this one. #yelp365 24/365

The location, within the historic Foundry building, adds a bit of character and charm to the overall ambiance. The service was friendly, though it was a bit inconsistent. The catering dropped the ball for people who did not eat meat or fish. My plate consisted of a dry salad (no dressing) and some sort of grain dish that I opted not to eat. Our server struggled with our table of eight, as we had to wait longer than expected for refills and updates on our meal offerings and timing. It wasn't a major issue, but it did take away from the overall experience. The tables and chairs need to be reupholstered or replaced, as the chairs we had damaged two of our table guest's dresses. Overall, it is a great venue.

The Foundry at Puritan Mill is located in Westside Atlanta, very close to the King Plow Arts Center. The site used to be home of the Puritan Chemical Company, who manufactured soaps and other cleaning products. The building has since been renovated and transformed into a clean and modern-looking facility. The floor space is huge. Sections were cordoned off with tall, elegant, white curtains. Along with nice decor and ambient lighting, the building still maintains an industrial look and feel with high, enormous ceilings with exposed ductwork and steel support beams, smooth-finished concrete floors, brick walls, and giant warehouse-style windows. There's also a patio outside, not to mention ample free parking. Puritan Mill provided more than enough space for our group of about 130-140. For our party, the venue was divided into three sections: (1) cocktails, h'orderves, (2) live music and dancing, (3) dinner. The first hour consisted of an open bar with standing tables and light h'orderves. When dinnertime rolled around, the curtains were pulled back and the beautiful, intimate dining area opened up. After dinner, dancing lasted late into the night. Overall, it was a very fun time and I had a blast. Food and drinks were provided by Bold American Catering (preferred caterer). Live entertainment was provided by Freeflight Productions of Kennesaw.

Wait, how have I driven past this place several times and not knew it existed? We came here in…read morecelebration of me getting licensed for work, and I was surprised when I was told we were going to see a show at a place i'd never knew existed! We came for a spoken word event called "Identity", a production of the Story Collider, which cost only $10/adult. This event had 5 scientists get on stage and provide stories of their lives and how science played a part in their self discovery. The Highland Inn Ballroom was an excellent choice for this event. Intimate feel, but enough seats to seat a full room of folks. Small stage, but again, increased intimate feel, adjacent full bar that was active and serving customers throughout the night., and lots of lovely interior to stroll through and photograph. About the only thing I could complain about was that at times the AC didn't appear to be working as well as it could, and it was very warm. Even the warm temperature was addressed Parking for the Highland Inn...I laughed when I saw the lot, because it's "THAT" lot that enforces parking if you're trying to slip in for lunch at a nearby restaurant, including Sweet Auburn BBQ, which is next door. That definitely burns you when you're hungry, but you smile when you're going to the inn, since that parking is yours! From N. Highland Ave, the lot goes down sharply since the lot is on a downward slope, but there is an exit at the bottom of the hill that exits out to Blue Ridge ave. Nice! Staff were friendly, the lounge was good for the event, and this hidden in plain site place is worth checking out.

Attending a book reading and signing event - George Saunders, writer extraordinaire, reading from his latest, "Tenth of December" - might be a different experience than the norm, but I thoroughly enjoyed the funky cool vibe of the space. Plenty of room for 150 people or so to mix and mingle, and the wait for the bar was never long. With a $6 special for well drinks, I was a happy girl. Keep an eye out for future book readings here, usually in partnership with A Cappella Books. For an author you like, it's definitely worth the time and expense. The staff is welcoming and friendly, and will happily call a cab for you at the end of the evening.

They're extremely affordable and have different packages from basic lighting to a full blown professional sound system with interactive lights and effects. I highly recommend this space for someone that wants a lot of bang for their buck! They also have rehersal spaces for rent in the back, but there's a waiting list to get in these amazing climate controled spaces. Plenty of Parking, lots of awesome art galleries on either side and everyone there is very accomidating!

Restrooms were clean. The only issue is there seemed to be no accommodations at all for people with disabilities. I was there with my kid who has had 11 surgeries on his legs in the last 14 years. There is no way for anyone to sit down and see the state which is a real and literal pain for my kid. I asked one man who was working there if there was an elevator available and informed him that my kid had disabilities (we've got the tag in the car and everything). He gave me an annoyed look and said no. Later I found out that the man was letting people with canes out a different set of doors. If only I had known that we had to flag our disabilities to gain access to ADA accommodation... Yes, my kid has a cane but he doesn't always use it because he doesn't always need it.
