I called to get a new patient appointment and was told it wouldn't be until February 2025, and I was fine with that, but while she was taking my information, they had a cancellation! I got in the next day! The staff was really great, from the front desk to the dental assistant taking the X-rays, to the dental hygienist and the dentist. It was easy to schedule a cleaning also. Please listen to these 1 star reviews. I went in for my new patient appointment and waited 2 HOURS just for a quick xray and then being asked what I wanted to get done. I told them I wanted a basic cleaning and to get one of my wisdom teeth removed. They took care of my wisdom tooth after making another appointment a couple of weeks later. That same day I made an appointment to start basic cleanings with them. Later they called saying they "double booked me" and had to reschedule for a month later. Again, a month later, magically my insurance was not in network now and they told me days before my appointment, so I couldn't even plan beforehand. I was frustrated with them since the first appointment and that should have been my first instinct to never come here. Their main focus is money, not preventative care. Stay far away. read more

Just an overall bad experience here. The cost was outrageous. They recommended services that were not needed. They never had any of paperwork ready. I would fill out my paperwork ahead of time and email it back to them. So when I would arrive for my appointment, I would have to do my paperwork all over again. read more

Nothing but positive things to say about Smile Design. The first time I went I did not have such a positive experience. Since then I've been back 3 times and each time the service has been amazing and I will stop looking elsewhere for a dentist. The service has been phenomenal in a COVID world. I have had a few filling filled and a tooth pulled and each time the doctors and techs took great care to make sure I was comfortable, relaxed and pain free. The full experience from beginning to end is great and the dentist show they care! The new front desk manager is wonderful and has made scheduling a breeze and a delight! She know great customer service! I had an emergency recently where I needed to be seen and they got me in the same day I called! I showed up this morning for my scheduled 8am, and they told me I'm not even in their system. I never got a confirmation call the week before or even a text reminder for an appointment. Warning!!! They double bill, you and your insurance company! A year later they change the billing to out of network, when at the time of service they were in Network. Send me a bill for a lot of money!! I spoke to my insurance company and they caught it right away. My insurance company is on it. Make sure you keep all your receipts, from the day of service and your insurance company. Thats what has saved me, I have my receipt from the day of service done in network. Everything I had done was in network. come back a year later and change to out of network. If you have been scammed contact your insurance company right away. read more

I arrived for my 3/16/2023 first appointment for 8:30 AM 20 minutes early, filled out almost 10 pages of paperwork, waited over almost 2 hours. Until the receptionist came out from behind her front office desk and told me she was terribly sorry but my appointment was booked by mistake and they would not be able to get to me. I said "There's no time throughout this entire day when I can be seen?" She said she'd have to check with the dentist. She came back out and told me they wouldn't see me today. I would not recommend this place. Several times we've gone there at our scheduled appointment time and they say they need to reschedule as they are too busy. They didn't call us ahead of time to let know. They made us come in only then to say they need to reschedule. We have also gotten conflicting care and recommendations from them. I made an appointment with Ashley in December of 2021 and she confirmed with me that they took my insurance which was Wellcare...The appointment was for Feb. 28th of 2022...She called me up and left a message on my voicemail on Feb. 25th saying that unfortunately they no longer took Wellcare as of the beginning of the year...I wanted an explanation as to why that she waited until 3 days before my appointment to tell me that when if she called me in January of 2022 I could have made an appointment with another Dentist therefore delaying my regular cleaning and checkup...I called them back and a new receptionist kept telling me that Ashley would call me back...2 weeks later and no call...I would stay far away from this unethical practice!!! read more

The front staff is great, but everything else is sloppy and uncoordinated. I've been going there and decided I just can't continue. Today they were finishing a crown, had me waiting a long time (until dentist arrived) and then ask me to bite down for 5 minutes. Twenty minutes later I went out front to ask why no one had come in. Someone rushed in and sent me out, still with a hunk of cotton in my mouth. They are apparently trying to see too many people at one time and do too many things at one time. I should have listened the experience of someone close to me who was robbed of $800 from Smile Design. After getting the detailed cost and "treatment plan" I saw some changes that were incorrect. They tried to change me for extractios even though my insurance clearly states that they are covered 100% as are cleanings. I had a deep cleaning which I knew wasn't completely covered, but cleanings afterwards were. Apparently, it takes an unlimited number of cleanings, which I was always charged for, before you can get the work do e that you went to have in the beginning. The dentist, who's name I don't recall, rudely turned her back in me while walking out as I was asking about a procedure, saying "if he wants it done" . It wasn't about if I wanted it done, it was something that needed to be done, geesh. My final straw was when I called three times (2 and 3 o'clock) on three different days during business hours for an appointment to get my two extractions done and to inquire about my partial only to have a recording say that I was calling outside of normal hours. After leaving messages I never received a call back. Horrible! read more

I've had three appointments here, and all of them have been great experiences. My initial exam was quick and informative, and Dr. Rudolph addressed any questions/concerns I had both professionally and in a way that made me feel comfortable with the findings and treatment plan (I was somewhat worried because I hadn't seen a dentist in 8 years and had some anxiety to see a dentist at all). I've had multiple fillings in the subsequent appointments as part of the plan. Even including the initial local numbing injections, the procedures were all painless and surprisingly fast. I've had no issues with the fillings since. The techs/staff have all been professional and courteous, and generally seem committed to providing a positive experience there for the patients. The facility (lobby, restrooms, exam /treatment rooms) is nice, clean, and comfortable. Dr. Rudolph seems like a stand up guy overall. No complaints whatsoever with the treatment so far, and he makes sure to check in with you throughout the appointment about comfort during procedures. Also gotta give him a shoutout for jump starting my car that died after the last appointment. Awesome place and people at Smile Design of Gainesville. Would definitely recommend. read more

I've had a problem with a temporary crown that has twice broken, on a tricky upper wisdom tooth. So I was frustrated when it happened a third time. Tiffany took extra care to address all my concerns. Her expertise and knowledge reassured me but most importantly alleviated my exquisitely sensitive tooth. So far, so good! read more

the worst ever cleaning that I had in my life. The Gainesville office finally has a full time hygienist (after 6 months). instead of having my cleaning at 6 months, I had it at 9 months. the new hygienist is completely incompetent. she started the water jet cleaning and in less than 5 minutes she was done. she did not bother to go to the back molars. I asked her and she said that all looks good. two times during the cleaning she was interrupted by another office member to go and do smth to another patient. finally after she returned, the hygienist continued with manual cleaning - again all very good and looked great, when I did not have cleaning in 9 months and I had several times deep cleaning. Then the hygienist had to take an x-ray. she told me that I have a small mouth and her frame is too large. she kept pushing the frame in my mouth, hurting my gums. it was terrible - I was in a lot of pain. Finally the hygienist placed a small piece of cloth on the gum, took the x-ray, but Doctor Whitney K. Schaff decided she cannot see clearly the tooth and the root and I need to see and endodontist. what a waste of time and pain. Please stay away from Smile design. The worst. there should be 0 stars. read more

Total scam. Will not allow you to make an appointment for an exam and cleaning at the same time. They require you come in and pay for an exam, then they tell you you need all this work to be done, and can't schedule a cleaning without the work. Very common scam technique by dentists. Do yourself a favor and call around. Plenty of dentists in this area who will give you an exam and cleaning, and then you can reschedule to have work done if it's even necessary. read more

I am a 68 Y/O male and I had insurance. When I went to the office I was told yes we take your insurance and it will not cost you a cent. The girls were all very nice and the office was clean. I get my appointment rather quickly. I think I was doing good. I only had 5 teeth that needed to be removed. To me, that was pretty simple. The first appointment I had X-rays done. No problem. I was given another appointment and was told my insurance co had to approve which teeth could be pulled so nothing happed that appointment. I got a letter from my insurance co approving removal of three teeth and they also approved new upper and lower dentures. There was a problem! I ask how can I have dentures made if I still have two teeth. The insurance said the DDS refuses to send documentation to get approval. I go back to the office and I am told the office no longer takes my insurance as the DDS that took your insurance quit to be a stay at home dad. Well, several months went by and I was called and told there was a new doctor hired and would take my insurance. So being me I showed up to have teeth removed and get my new dentures. At this time I was told it will take several months to make the dentures as they had to wait for my gums to shrink. I have had upper dentures for 30 years and they were put in the same day all um upper teeth were pulled. Anyway, I did finally get the teeth and after many times returning for adjustments, I still can NOT WARE THE F#%#%! LOWER DUE TO PAIN. i had some gnarly teeth, i admit that, but i got a quick once over from dr. honig and got a bill for nearly 10 thousand dollars. they thought i was a homeless person with bad brown stained teeth but i am just an old marine with bad teeth. ii really screwed up by paying them cash. they pulled many of my teeth and sold me many crowns and ill fitting dentures that i would not make my an isis fighter ware. i over heard one of your dental techs talking to some one in the next room one day about me being a homeless person. i didn't like that. i can't ware the denture because they rock in my mouth and do not fit, they whistle when i talk and all i get from them is they do not care. they already have my money. i went back when the hook on the denture popped out a filling and got some guff and replacement filling that popped out in 2 days and now, after putting all my eggs in one basket i am going to have to find a better skilled dentist because i really need a good dentist after going to these clowns. i want to like them because we has fun taling about weed and 4/20 but weed does not fix your teeth. a good dentist does that and there is no good dentist here. god bless the united states of amarica and god bless the united states marines. david lovejoy, usmc there is one last thing. when i came to you i had no tooth pain and i could chomp into an apple with ease. my front teeth were stable, i could feed myself. i spoke well and often. now i can barely feed myself(thank god for bananas) and have a heavy list and i don't feel like talking at all. so the next time you think about taking someone's front teeth you should sit him or her down and explain how drastically this is going to change their lives. i think the only way i could truely feel whole again is if i could pull all of your teeth out and listen to the entire smile design staff hissing and lisping during conversations just like me. thank you dr. noah honig and company. as for the matt thing , i am bad with names , totally my bad. let's just call the tech that dissed me: the fat cocky kid with the mouth, that works for you. think his name is will william? read more
