I saw Dr. Kelly Santarelli and it was THE WORST dental experience I've ever had. She recommended I get two fillings redone on two different teeth. I did not have any pain or discomfort with these teeth...until she worked on them. I have before and after images and now tooth 31's filling is very close to the nerve. I'm in so much pain. It has been 10 days after my procedure. I had to see another dentist and orthodontist. I now have to live with the pain for 2 more weeks to decide if I need a root canal on both teeth!!!!!! In addition, I'll now have to get another night guard bc the one I got only 1 year ago doesn't fit the teeth that have been refilled. Thanks, I haven't been able to chew on the right side of my mouth for 10 days. I saw another review that is similar to mine. Ugh, this is horrible! read more

STAY AWAY FROM DR. SANTARELLI!! The office is great. Dr. Kittrell is a good dentist. The other doctor, Kelly Santarelli, is the worst and I was tempted to sue the place because of her. She did work on me and over / under medicated me. The pain and anxiety was ridiculous and they kept me there for hours. Instead of providing advice relative to what I could do to help my anxiety, she left it up to me like I was doctor and knew my medical options. Then when I became anxious, upset and distraught in the office, they actually sent me a registered letter and dropped me from their business. I had been with the practice for 6 years. I have to say the practice is great but I wouldn't let Dr. Santarelli work on my worst enemy (or maybe I would, that might be what they deserve). So while I'm giving one star, the rest of the practice is great. read more

Their office in the DTC is calm, refreshing, responsive and well managed. I was diagnosed and treated for TMJ with a full mouth reconstruction. Dr. Kittell and her wonderful assistants, Avery and Patricia, performed extensive cosmetic and restorative dentistry on me. Through the strategic placement of porcelain crowns, my bite was corrected to a comfortable alignment. The dental work is complete. I am delighted with the results and thrilled to be able to smile, eat and sleep without jaw discomfort. My disabled son grinds his teeth. This has caused a lot of damage. Dr. Kittell came up with a solution using onlays on his upper teeth that eliminates more damage. There is not enough room on this page for me to praise this office! I was on vacation from out of state and my FRONT crown came out! I was beyond freaked out as I has another week left before I went home so my daughters roommate recommended Smile Essentials. The moment I called into the office (before opening time) and left a voice message minutes later Raleigh called me back and had incredible compassion and concern for me. She got me in at opening time and once I walked into the office she kindly introduced herself to me and walked me back to a room where I could fill out some quick paperwork so I wouldn't have to sit in the waiting room missing a front tooth in the company of other patients. Dr Kittell took exrays and put a small post in to hopefully hold the crown on. She spent time with me and was so thorough, friendly and professional. When I went to pay I couldn't believe how reasonable the prices were for all that she did. Sadly 5 days later early on a Friday AM my crown came out again. No fault of office as I have an appointment for implant as soon as I go home. I left a message at office ( they are closed on Fridays)and Dr Kittell happened to be there for a meeting and half hour later she re-cemented the crown (at no charge)and it stayed solid for rest of my vacation plus time back home. One of the best professional and friendliest businesses (staff) I've ever experienced! Wish they were in my state! read more

My cleanings are painless and the atmosphere is calming. Each dental chair is even fitted with headphones and TV's. This is perfect for someone like me who has high anxiety when going to the dentist. I've been extremely satisfied with my experience @ Smile Essentials. I met with Dr. Kittell after one of my buddies referred me to her after becoming her patient for general dentistry and invisalign treatments. He gave her rave reviews, so I made an appointment and it was one of the best decisions I've made in a long time. I've had a history of dental issues that I hadn't been able to take care of due to lack of insurance. Cavaties, tooth aches, broken crowns etc. that I'd avoided taking care of because I simply didn't have the money to address them at the time-- so I was self-concious about my teeth. Dr. Kittle and her staff made me feel at ease and provided me a dental plan that gave me confidence that the pain and self-awareness issues I had with my teeth would be fixed and a distant memory in no time. Without a doubt, Dr. Kittell and the entire Smile Essentials team are out of this world fabulous. I went in for a cleaning a month ago and they were so welcoming, kind, and most importantly professional. When I left, in 25 years of going to the dentist my teeth had never felt more clean. I had to have some fillings replaced recently and again was blown away with how great of an experience something that is normally such a drag can be. They even called to follow up and see how I was doing - something that I wasn't expecting but really appreciated. Probably one of the best dental experiences I have ever had. For years, I have been kind of on/off with my dental visits. I am getting married in Septemeber, and I was ready to update my smile. Terrified, I scheduled my first appointment at Smile Essentials- expecting to be scolded and humiliated about not being seen in a while. Let me tell you... Margy was unbelievably amazing and super friendly while cleaning my teeth. She made me feel extremely comfortable and relaxed throughout my cleaning and walked me through every step, explaining what she was doing and why she was doing it. I mentioned that I wasn't very confident about my smile, and Dr. Kittell gave me a super customized "smile consultation". She understood I didn't feel confident and noticed right off the bat that I didn't want to show my full smile. Dr. Kittell and Avery walked me through every step of the process. From talking about the next steps to what to expect after the appointment, they were amazing! I have been in pain for over two months and I just get told to wait for the pain to go away... they tell me it's not a big deal if it was their mouth it would be a big deal. And now I get a call saying I need to go in to get the procedure done that they completely messed up two months ago. I see what it's about I could go on for days but I'll leave it at this. read more

We have been living in the Denver metro area for over 20 years and have been seeing Dr. Thomas Hein in Greenwood Village for as long as I can remember. We always found the office to be excellent, including the front desk staff (thank you Cherry!), the great hygienists who were always friendly and very professional (especially Donna) and Dr. Hein himself who was very personable and professional. The office was very well maintained and I appreciated the numerous TV channels and always liked getting the free bags of dental supplies. Since the experience was always very good, we never minded the terrible busy parking situation at the Centrium tower. This summer when Dr. Hein sold the practice to Dr. Carolyn Kittell we were a little hesitant about continuing to go to this practice. That being said, Dr. Kittell is very polite and professional and seems like a compotent dentists. However, there are a couple of things that bother me about the new practice. They have done away with the numerous TV channels they had, now they only have a few choices. While I like Dr. Kittell, I'm deeply concerned because on two visits now I haven't seen her ever wash her hands before putting on gloves or after examining my mouth. Dr. Hein always used to wash his hands before putting on gloves and after he was done examining my mouth. I really wish that Dr. Kittell improves her hand hyegine practices as a slight slip up can lead to infections. 5 stars for the great office and staff, -2 stars for Dr. K's poor hand hygiene. read more

My husband and I moved to Denver earlier this year and needed to find a local general dentist to take care of our dental needs. After careful research we finally found the best dentist in Denver, Dr. Carolyn Kittell! I would know first-hand what qualities make an extraordinary dentist as my father is a dentist in my hometown. Dr. Kittell is professional, efficient, thorough, skilled, friendly, and most importantly, for scaredy cats like me, very patient! I walked into Smile Essentials as a new patient for my yearly cleaning/check-up and was promptly greeted by friendly, accommodating staff. My usual forgetful self left my dental insurance card at home but that was not a problem at all. The lovely girl at the front desk took care of everything herself, calling my insurance directly to get the necessary information. Dana, one of the hygienists, provided excellent service. I usually HATE getting my teeth cleaned but she made it such an enjoyable experience. After my teeth were cleaned and polished, Dr. Kittell found a spot she did not have a good feeling about upon visual inspection of my teeth. Although my XR didn't clearly show tooth decay, she went with her gut and drilled away. As it turns out, I had a deep cavity which only presented itself after drilling. My tooth was saved thanks to her intuition and brilliance! Best of all, my cavity filling was virtually pain-free! I will never go anywhere else for my dental needs and truly look forward to my next appointment! read more
