The only good thing about it is the nice office. I was a client for years and had only missed one appointment, for which I paid a hefty $200-something fee. I had a work emergency and when I called to cancel the day of the appt (life happens), they transferred me to the office manager to rudely tell me that they couldn't have me as a client anymore. Claimed I had too many missed appointments, which was not true. I asked for her to tell me the days I had missed and she condescendingly told me it was irrelevant because I was no longer a client. Horrible customer service. Do yourself a favor and find somewhere else, there are better offices out there that have kind and compassionate staff, better availability and prices and offer true care for their patients. And no, as they would like to make you think, I'm not associated to any reviewer. My last name changed since I was a patient.

Let's start with the fact that they've changed Dentists more times than I can remember and hygienists are the same. They'll always try to tell you that you need 5 or more fillings and yet when I've gotten checked elsewhere they all tell me they were just trying to make money off me. This brings me to my next issue. I made an appointment far in advance. They called a few times to confirm it but I was sick and dealing with other medical issues at the time. So, I get a text the day BEFORE my appointment saying my appointment has been canceled because they couldn't confirm it. I thought ok well that's fine. Then they send me a lovely bill for a missed appointment fee. When they call back, Mckenzie, starts the conversation by saying I violated the financial policy by not calling, it is what it is, we'll send it to collections if we have to etc. I told her, listen, I have never missed an appointment you can check my history, and you all canceled the day before I have the text message to prove it so why would I have shown up? Her disrespectful, catty response? "Well you could have called, you have a responsibility too." Which i replied, "yea my responsibility was staying alive because I was sick. I didn't prioritize a dental cleaning appointment but im telling you that's what happened. You assume some of us are just lazy or careless and that's poor customer service but that wasn't the case here." She held on to her anger and disgustingly cold approach and said she'd send the balance to collections which I said, go right ahead. It will go no where and cost them more in the long run because not only is there a fee associated with sending it there, they have lost a customer and everyone affiliated with me because I'll make sure everyone I care about knows to stay far away from this "practice". My reach in Frederick and neighboring counties goes wide, and I'll make sure people dont get scammed by this atrocious place or its people. If you want: 1. Show up on time for appts but get called back 30-1hr past your appt time. Go here. 2. Unprofessional, rude, catty, young, inexperienced staff taking care of you, go here. 3. I'm not gonna lie, my visit did not start off on the best foot. I had an appointment for 8:20 AM…read moreand wasn't taken back until 8:45. I was not informed what the delay was. The hygienist Rae (?), was AMAZING. She was super friendly. She took a full set of x-rays since I was a new patient and then gave me a pair of sunglasses to put on before she started my cleaning. They had numerous flavor options for the polishing paste. I was offered cherry, vanilla, mint and cookie dough. She checked on my comfort numerous times while she was working and was very thorough. There is a large flat-screen TV hanging high in front of the chair so you can watch TV while they work on your teeth. Once she completed the cleaning, Dr. Thackenkary came in to do the final examination. He did a complete oral cancer screen and checked the condition of my jaw, teeth and bite. He also explained about the pH of my saliva and how it helped to prevent cavities, which was interesting. He did not try to "sell" me anything else, like tooth whitening. Every other dentist I've been to has always tried to get me to pay for something else. Dr. Thackenkary advised me to come back in 6 months for my next routine visit and gave me a goodie bag with a toothbrush, toothpaste, floss and mouthwash. Neither Dr. Thackenkary or Rae were condescending or rude. I've been to some dentists who get a bit nasty when they are telling you about your teeth and if there is any plaque or anything. Not these two! Rae just explained how to better floss my bottom molars to help prevent buildup in the future. Overall, I was extremely pleased with my visit. Friendly staff and straightforward dental care. I highly recommend others visit Opal Ridge Dental for their dental needs. You'll be pleased.

I had several old silver fillings that I wanted replaced due to cosmetic reasons, a build up from a route canal that had no pain and a tooth that was slightly chipped . Dr. Dinh refused to replace the fillings until I had agreed to let him crown both teeth with no pain. I should have ran. I finally agreed to let him crown the two teeth ( one was a molar). After he finished, I had to return to him approximately 7 times complaining that food was getting trapped in between the molar and it had became very painful. Instead of replacing the crown he continued to give me the run - around. Mind you, I had been going to him every 6 month to have my teeth cleaned , examined and x-rayed. All of a sudden he said i had bone loss where he put the crown. I ask, "how could this be"? As a result of his negligence I have severe bone loss where he put the crown and now the tooth has to be extracted. The tooth in front of the molar has constantly hurt every time I bite down on it. He continued to con his way through every visit. Please, run from him if you want to keep all of your teeth in your head. Wait time 10 minutes

Dr. Levy did a wonderful job with our 2-week-old daughter's tongue tie release. Our daughter was…read morediagnosed by a lactation consultant with a tongue tie that was causing me significant pain while breastfeeding. Dr. Levy was able to get us in within a few days to have the procedure done. He performed the frenectomy with local anesthesia and a scalpel. Our two older children had laser frenectomies at other locations, but I preferred the scalpel method because my husband and I were able to stay with our baby the entire time (other practices do not allow parents in the room if the frenectomy is performed with a laser). Dr. Levy did an excellent job of explaining what to expect during the procedure, which took less than 10 minutes total. After the frenectomy, our daughter was more fussy than normal for about 1.5 days, but nursed successfully just 1 hour after the procedure. The nursing pain for me significantly decreased after the procedure. I'm very happy with the level of care and compassion that Dr. Levy and his hygienists gave us!

Every time I've gone, I've paid my bill & was good to go (over $400 worth out of pocket before I could leave). Dr. H had asked if I wanted a desensitizing treatment for my cavities. I had asked if they were covered by my insurance & she said yes so I went ahead and got it. The second time I received it for my other side, the front desk tried to charge me over $400 for it. I was like no- it should be covered that's what I was told by Dr. H. They said okay no worries we'll take care of it. They are calling me now 4 months later saying I have a $700+ bill overdue that I've never received nor was told about when I closed my account in November because of these treatments. Even the person on the phone was telling me she's shocked it's so much because she usually only sees it for $30 a tooth... make it make sense. Where did this bill all of a sudden come from? They better figure it out because I wouldn't have gotten the treatment otherwise if they had stuck to their word. Or had come back multiple times if I had known they were going to be so mistrusting to their word. I'm honestly exhausted of financial malpractice at dentist offices. I had thought I finally found a decent one. But this really took me over the edge. They told me at the end of last year that for 2026 they would stop taking my insurance, Delta Dental, which so many people have. Clearly, there is a disconnect between the patient/doctor experience & financial department & they'll continue to lose patients if they continue this. So beware!
