I used this place about 4 or 5 times in the past, but today I had a shocking experience with one of the technician. Her name is Grace. She did a great job with my mani and pedi but in the middle of my mani she ask if I could pay before she put my nail polish. Hand her my CC and she ask " Only " $41" ? I said yes. Any tip? I said yes I have cash for tip. So I put $5 on the side for her. I usually tip around 15% but I did not appreciate her tone of voice and her attitude ( have $15 cash set aside for tipping). I wanted to see what will happen. To my surprise, she did exactly what I was expecting. She became very rough with my hands, sighing and making faces while applying my nail polish (like a kid having a temper tantrum). At the end of color application, she told me " your tip is not enough...this service is $41 dollars". Responded to her by saying I know it's not enough. I usually add more at the end of my service to see if you will do a good job or not. I told her I wish I recorded your face when I laid down my tip...it was priceless. I told her you just lost a customer and gave her another $10. I did thank her for a mani/pedi well done but her attitude towards tip is very unprofessional. If your the owner of this establishment I guess I would talk to your employees about tips. You do not need to be rough and rude to your customers if you did not get the tip you expected to receive. Finish the job and let your customers be happy. Who knows the next time they come back, they might surprise you. I guess some of the reviews I'm reading are 5 star. To those of you that give a 5 star review, try giving a smaller tip next time and see how the pressure on your hands changes while she is looking at your tip. They are not gonna like you. Oh by the way, they will talk about you really bad too, only you will not understand them cause they are talking on their native tongue. She was very nice and polite. She was thorough and paid close attention to details. It's already been a week and the polish has not even chipped. The location was clean. regular nail salon was booked so i decided to give them a try for my acrylic fill in. everyone was very nice, however my nails looked uneven, somehow slanted and none were the same shape. i repeatedly told her not to change my shape, when she did and i asked her to fix it she was visibly annoyed. strongly dislike their acrylic powder "dipping method" which made my nails thick and chunky. also, the powder was stuck all over my fingers. i left with still uneven nails, and not even a WEEK later they have all lifted due to poor application. going to my regular salon for a new set as their powder and filing destroyed my acrylics completely. never coming back here. read more

I've been going to Smile Nails for years and I've always been happy with my manicures and pedicures. I received a free manicure in the mail for my bday from them that I finally got to use. I walked in and I could barely recognize the place. It recently went under new ownership. It's always been nice and clean, but they updated the place with new manicure and pedicure stations. Julie gave me the best pedicure I've ever had and I got a manicure from her that was equally as good. Everyone was so friendly and nice, it made for a nice relaxing hour. read more

Sally was nice, she seemed like she was doing a good job. Then I looked at my toes, and they were uneven. Mina seemed like she was in a hurry and cut my cuticles so rough, I still have a small cut. She seemed bothered by the fact that I had trouble finding a color to go with my outfit I needed. I have been going to Smile Nails for a few months now. The pedicure here is amazing...you don't have to look at a menu for extras they are included! So, you get a sweet stone massage and amazing parafin treatment for your heels. The no-chip manicures are also stellar! As you get your manicure, they have a moisturizing treatment they apply to your hands, which is great for Chicago winters. Went there for the first time over the weekend. They take walk-ins. They were really nice. They give you a hot stone massage and paraffin wax on your heels with the "standard" pedicure. They also put your hands in these little lotion gloves while they give you your manicure. They have a cash back rewards program. No one does my eyebrows quite like Smile Nails! I recently wrote a review about another nail place, as I had gone there to get my eyebrows done in a day that Smile Nails was closed. I stand by my positive review, but after looking at my eyebrows more closely I realize that the shape isn't quite as good as what I get at smile nails. They are cleaned up nicely, but that's a certain shape that they always give me here that really stands out - to the point where I get compliments on them! This is the second time in a row that I had my eyebrows done somewhere besides Smile Nails (due to time, proximity constraints, etc) and I swear it will be the last! I naturally have very thick eyebrows, so I generally get mine done every 2-3 weeks, and have been since I was a teenager. I've gone all over and this place is by far the best when it comes to properly waxing and shaping my brows! Very unhappy. Had French acrylic nails done and was very unhappy with the work they did. First of they did the dipping powder technique which for me is bad quality faster and very expensive! The next day my nails started to chip. I made sure I didn't wet them as much take good care of them because I paid $40 NOT Including tip!!!!!!When other nail salons charge $25! Also the nail technician filed my cuticle!! It is as painful and she didn't even use the appropriate tools. She was so rushed she didn't bother to let them try! This place is super expensive! This was the first time when I had my nails done at the salon. I usually do my own nails and sometimes I do my own acrylic set however this time I figured it would take less time I would be getting my nails done by a professional and pamper myself at the same time. The moment I walked in they asked me what I want I told him I want a brand new acrylic set. They told me is going to cost me $15 more to remove my existing fake nails that I had on. I figured it's no problem I can spoil myself once in a while. She did my nails and then I asked her I want non chip gel on top of the acrylic. She said no problem pick your color but it's going to cost you $70 I thought I didn't hear right the first time. Again I said OK no problem. I did not pay attention nor did I look at my nails until she was finished I thought I'm going to fall off the chair. In my opinion my nails looked horrific had no natural shape whatsoever quite honestly looked like she gave me shovels instead of nails. I gave her $80 and she has never offered to give me back $10. That was not important to me because I would've tip her for her time and not her job quite honestly but it just bothered me tremendously the fact that she just assume that the $10 are for her and at this point she never at least thanked me for the tip. I got home and I had to redo my nails which at this point I would've saved me time and $80. The only reason why this place got one star is because I was unable to give them no stars!!!! I am never someone who leaves reviews but in the case I had to. Stay clear of this place at all cost!!! They have no idea what they are doing and repeatedly hurt me and my friend when we were getting our manicures. I have never seen a place so ill prepared for services that they clearly offer on their website. Keep in mind that the website is lacking any form of pricing for the services they include, so we called to find out how much a full pink and white set was and we were told it would be $45, then at the end of the visit we were both charged $50 for the worst set of gels (which I am almost positive are not gel, but instead acrylic).
