    Day 2 swelling

I had my wisdom tooth extracted here, and will not be returning. I went for a new patient appointment, where I was advised I should have both of my bottom wisdom teeth pulled and that I needed a couple fillings. I was not given much information on what to expect during my appointment for the wisdom tooth extraction, other than a price estimate, that they are comfortable completing it in office and that it will take about an hour for both teeth. Went in for the appointment and Dr. Elhindi decided to only numb one side to begin he stated "it may be too uncomfortable to complete both today" only saying this after he already began numbing the right side of my mouth (not even the side I experience discomfort on). After he completed the first tooth, (Which took about 1.5 hrs from when I arrived) he told me he would not be pulling the second tooth that day due to him not having time, and even if he did have the time that my mouth could not be held open wide enough at this point due to experiencing a lot of discomfort having to hold my mouth open for an hour straight. He said I would have to return for the other to be completed in 2-3 weeks after my mouth has time to heal, but also mentioned I should see an oral surgeon making me believe he was not competent in his ability to pull it to begin with. When I stated I would go see another dentist that I was no longer interested in being seen in his office, he said no other dentist will pull it for me and that I will need a referral for an oral surgeon, yet he is capable of pulling it... I was not given pain medicine post appointment, or really any after care instructions from the Dr himself. I had to drive back the following day due to being in extensive pain to receive a prescription for pain medicine. When I came back for the prescription he offered to complete the second extraction that day, after telling me id need 2-3 weeks to heal initially and how I couldn't hold my jaw open the day prior to get the second pulled but he would be able to now when I was experiencing severe swelling. I missed two days of work, losing over $300 of pay for only one of the two teeth to be extracted. I am experiencing extreme pain and swelling. Now I will need to repeat the process all over again missing more work, paying for another dentist to see me as I used my covered appointments to be seen in his office all because he did not plan accordingly. Id recommend seeing an oral surgeon from the start as that is who he has now referred me to see after extracting one of my teeth. Leaving me to pay these additional costs and experience ongoing pain until I can get additional time off for my next extraction.

As a patient who's been coming for several years, today 11/10/22 was a huge disappointment!…read more My appointment was at 11:30 I wasn't asked to come to the back until 12. The heavy set assistant put the bib around me, asked if I wanted to watch tv, I said no, she left. About 12:15 I sat up in the seat to see if I could get someone's attention, to ask when I would be seen. The assistant came into the room and said, the doctor is with another patient she will be in shortly. I asked her, is this new, for patients to wait almost an hour before they are seen? She said, Dr. Marshall is on vacation so the other dentist is taking his patients. As we were speaking the Dentist walked into the room and said, what's the problem? I said, I've been waiting almost an hour. She said, no your appointment was at, before she could get it out I said, 1130 . She said, so you've been waiting about 30 minutes, it's 1210 I said no, it's actually 1220. She nonchalantly shrugged her shoulders and said, emergencies happen. The way she looked at me was as if to say, oh well, wait til I'm done. I began to fix my purse strap, she said, are you leaving ? I said yes because you're being very rude and inconsiderate. She said, nonchalantly, ok and walked to the front desk to tell the receptionist, i wasn't being seen because i didn't want to wait. I told her, no, I'm leaving because the dentist was being extremely rude to me. I left in shock! I couldn't believe she was as rude and inconsiderate as she was. It was as if she was doing me a favor or as if i was late and she had to wait on me. I waited almost an hour to be seen, not one time did anyone apologize for my wait or show any consideration for my time. I had to find a baby sitter for my three month old baby for this appointment just for the dentist to be extremely rude to me and waste my time. I would never give my business to this practice as long as she's there! I have referred so many people to this practice from SWA, including a few family members, but I will be sure to tell them about the experience I had today so they can find a new place to go as well. Dr Marshall didn't seem to be as rude and ignorant as the female dentist that works there. I hope you clean house because she will be the cause of you losing a lot of patients. And by the way, while I was there some of the workers were talking about another worker leaving the practice ( I believe) and said, this place is going to go to shit when you leave and I was actually getting paid on time with you here. So obviously there is more going on at this practice than just that rude, nasty, ignorant female dentist!

I made the mistake of bringing my youngest, which is why I also understood why I couldn't go back, but we went right after school. This was a mistake I'm willing to fix myself. My son is older so I was not given follow up advice on whether he should eat, take pain meds, etc... Chris stated he would remind staff to follow up with parent. I also do not know if he saw the same dentist as I met last time who was a little too short with him and I. Some good I wanted to cover more - front desk staff came out for children often to offer coloring pages and talked with them about their favorites (my youngest was in heaven) I've been to A LOT of Medicaid offices and as I stated, they are cringy, so I totally appreciate the office being so clean and welcoming in most ways. I'm also very happy to have had the opportunity to work through this issue with Chris, who clearly cares about his patients. We'll be back. Original review: The front desk staff is amazing. The dentist is meh. My biggest complaint is how they act like parents going back with the kids is the devil walking through the door. In fact, while sitting in the waiting room, I heard a parent try to see their child and were told only one parent in the room at a time. As a foster/adoptive parent I have a lot of kiddos with a lot of trauma and every one I've brought here I've had to beg the nurse for me to be with them. Yet, they take Medicaid and are not cringy so we'll keep fighting the good fight.

After receiving his cleaning, we received a bill for over $400. I called and spoke with Jennifer (after multiple attempts to get in touch with anyone) and she said she didn't know who would say they were in network with our insurance, because they only work with 1 insurance company. She told me that she would re-bill our insurance to see if there would be any coverage. After insurance was billed again, I received a statement (over a year after the appointment) saying that we owed $193 and that the remaining portion of $224 was covered. This was in May of 2024. I paid the $193 immediately and thought I was done with it. I received a bill one week before Christmas saying that I now owed the remaining $224. I called the office immediately and Jennifer said not to worry about it and to enjoy my holiday, she would look into it. January rolled around and I never heard back, but I received a letter from a collection agency saying that that we owed $298. I called to speak to Jennifer and left multiple messages. Finally I asked to speak to someone higher up and spoke directly with the Dr. he informed me that this would be cleared up and we would look into it and get it figured out. Less than a day later and called me back and said that I had to pay collections and that the company was charging me a fee. I spoke with a collections agent and they told me that the dental office adds their own fee of 33% to all of their invoices that they send over, just for their pocket. She also told me that my invoice was sent their in October. I did not even receive and invoice until December and called immediately. I have never had a bill sent to collections. Ever. Completely shady business practice to ignore a customer and send an invoice to collections when being told the account was paid. Keep a close eye on your account, you will be sent random bills years after your appointments
