I made an appointment due to the stellar reviews, close to home. It was a hard process since I was with my former dentist for 17 years. I called and made appointment 2 weeks ago, receptionist seemed friendly. She informed me someone would call me to confirm insurance info. I got a call this past Wednesday to confirm appointment and was told I would receive another call Friday to confirm appointment(???????). It seems like they could consolidate the phone calls to just 1. Why would u call someone twice?? Suggestion guys. Arrived at appointment to facility. Decent facility, decent waiting room. Went in back to get X-rays and noticed there was another seat near mine. Wait where's the wall??? No privacy??? Though the had a privacy notice on top of paperwork??? How about a private room. Another suggestion. The tech must have taken multiple X-rays. I'm shocked she didn't take one of my colon. Must have been at least 20. My teeth are not that bad. I go to dentist every 6 months but I understand...1st visit, rake it up!!! Plus I have good insurance. Doctor seemed nice, friendly. They have your images on the screen while they take pics and while doc is consulting u. That part I did like & something my prior dentist lacked. He told me the hygienist will be with me shortly. I was relaxing in seat when one of the assistants came and said that it will be 30-45 minutes before hygienist sees me or if I want to come another day. I informed her that I will wait, I do not have another day to come by to get a cleaning - today's the day. She laughed, I laughed. ????? I went to waiting room and just wanted to make sure I was on the list. The 2 ladies at the front desk thersaid yes I will be seeing the hygienist and the lady I spoke with in the chair also confirmed and stated that the hygienist has separate hours than the doctor. What??? I have never heard of that before. They give u a "free" dental teeth whitening kit. They fit u for the mouth piece. Please bring a raincoat! When the hygienist does your teeth cleaning u are getting all wet from your saliva. Plus she started on my top teeth then bottom, then back...no consistency to cleaning like I used to have. I will continue to find an old school dentist. Will I be back???? Hmmmmmmm probably not.

I have to admit, I was very afraid at first. Let me take you back, way back. When I was little I…read morehad a very bad experience with the family dentist, he accidently started working on my teeth but the assistant still hadn't numbed me up so being a little kid I didn't say anything. Needless to say, I had the worst experience and ever since then I was deathly afraid of dentist visits. Fast forward to this day, I came to American Dental due to a tooth pain. Of course they had to go through the preliminaries of my insurance so although I came in for pain, I had to come back when insurance was approved. Didn't help my pain but I obliged. A few weeks later I was in and the process of teeth pain and other points began. I actually think that the fear was all in my head, seeing as the Dentist was extremely professional and really helped me with the fear removal. That was something that I was very happy about. Since the review has been started I've seen the various dentist in this office (3 so far) a few times and now that my teeth are no longer in fear, I am now comfortable with their bedside manner. Very professional and thank goodness for insurance since it may have been a bit costly had I didn't have it. But now I am on my way to having a Colgate smile, and for this I couldn't be happier. Although one drawback is that space for parking is limited, and since this is on Archer avenue, its kind of hard to find a decent parking spot and you have to watch the signs on the side for residents only. Tickets will be enforced here and you just have to be mindful of signs. Although parking is tight, maybe 20 cars could fit, people still get savvy and park as tight as they could but when someone is trapped, it becomes comedy as folks are trying to get out and wait for others to move. This is the only drawback I see, but of course this would never deter me from not coming, as this location as stated is very professional and they are just so kind and considerate of the patient and I am really happy that they are. It is very important to also make appointments, although I've seen people walk in, I can't imagine it being easy as far as seeing a dentist, but hey why not. One of the very best things that I've seen any medical practitioner do in their office is the way my treatment plan was given with prices on the side, including what my insurance pays. This makes things so much better for myself and I wish other practitioners would do this practice also.

American Dental Associates has many office locations. I was sent to this one by my daughters…read moreprimary dentist because she had an abscess on her front tooth and it was determined that she needed a root canal. The primary care office sent the prior authorization which was initially denied by my insurance, stating the primary dentist should do the root canal and not a specialist. The primary dentist does not do root canals and the cycle of prior authorization and appeals continued for about 6 weeks. Within that time frame someone filed a grievance on my behalf for the first denial, which was eventually denied again under the original prior authorization number. After many phone calls to my insurance on my end, the root canal was finally approved and scheduled...then cancelled by the office manager who insisted that they had to follow the grievance letter, and also informed me that my daughters account was flagged due to the many phone calls I made to the insurance. I got on a three way phone call with the insurance and the office manager and I swear it was like two divorced parents bickering back and forth. During this conversation the insurance person stated that it was the office that continued to send prior authorizations incorrectly instead of making an appeal like they we instructed to do by the insurance and that is why the account was flagged. How unprofessional of an office manager to put that on the parent. This office manager continued to cancel my appointment and insisted the insurance send another approval letter with a more current date, but the insurance insisted that the approval letter was in good standing which the office manager was not accepting and basically refused to treat my daughter. Never have I ever gone through such a cluster f**k ...and the whole time my daughter was suffering with this tooth. I had no choice but to take her somewhere else and pay out of pocket, and she didn't need a specialist to it either. I found a general dentist that did an amazing job. Do yourself a favor and stay clear of this place...they don't care about patients..only money.
