Each kid needed dental work and unfortunately our insurance was unable to cover anything due to the holistic material used (I so wish we could afford to pay out of pocket!) but I would absolutely recommend them. We chose to use smile ranch for a few years. I was seeking a good holistic dentist. My youngest had to have some major dental work when he was 3. He had multiple teeth pulled and fillings done. We spent thousands of dollars with this office for this procedure on top of other treatments for other people in my family. Two years later we switched dentists. My youngest has to have all of his work redone. He has fillings that have fallen out and the ones still in have cavities brewing underneath them. I am beyond furious and upset by this. I even paid extra for her ozone treatments that was supposed to help his teeth. The staff seemed nice and genuine when we were there. But i also noticed that the Dr couldn't keep information about my kid straight. Previous trauma or appointments with my kids. I'd have to remind her of why we were there or what we had previously discussed at other appointments. And sometimes it might be multiple times in the appointment. Recently we started to get a random bill from them and we have no idea what it is for as it just gives random recent date and doesn't mention the patient or what it is for. We haven't been to the office in over a year and a half maybe longer. And the bill is for the one person in my house who has never been. They are extremely hard to get on the phone and have odd hours which i find challenging. read more

Update 2020: I will never come here again. Here is why- 1. In all the years I had been coming here, they have failed to identify a HUGE cavity in my back molar. It was so big when I went to a different dentist for cleaning, she literally yelled "woah!!!" And picked out food from it. Since it was so big the only option was a root canal. I went to a doctor a MINT dentist provided. No issues with the tooth since. 2. The crown that caused the initial drama fell out. Mint was able to put it back in on October of 2019. Now it's Feb 2020 and it fell out again and they determined I needed a new one and they said it is really bad that it needs to be replaced so soon. The mint dentist told me she has never put one in that needed to be replaced sooner than 10 years. Horrible dentist office and horrible experience. We tried to go in for a regular cleaning and they called us the day of our appointment (3 hours notice) to say that we must get a deep cleaning Sherry was extremely rude and unprofessional when we declined the treatment. She tried to guilt us by saying they would have an hour and a half open slot because of us. I explained that this would be an additional cost and an additional time constraint that we were not prepared for. I asked why this wasn't mentioned when they called a week prior to our appointment to confirm the appointments. When she got an attitude with me I asked her, "isn't this supposed to be a christian business?" She said they are still a business and told us to find a new dentist and hung up on me. An absolute s*&! show. And it takes a lot for me to say that. Front staff there is incompetent year after year, and it seems to be getting worse. I feel there is currently only one gal that knows what she is doing but it outweighs everything we experienced: 1) I have called NUMEROUS time updating my phone number. Simple, right? Every time I have called in thereafter for confirmation on our insurance, they confirm my phone number as my old one. I updated it at LEAST three times, various dates, leading up to the day of our appointment. 2) Oh yes... this is important to note, I called months ago to confirm they take my own insurance so I can get a cleaning too. The front staff says yes you are covered. I make an appointment same day as my kids, since we are traveling so far. That same day of appointment I called to confirm (cause I know how their incompetence track record works), and then they say no we do not take your insurance! So I had to cancel my appointment that same morning we made the long drive for my children's appointments. Still speaking of the same morning, we drive from Austin to enable our children to have holistic dental care, covered by our insurance, on our way to our appointment last month, we call saying we will be around 5 min late due to traffic, to be thoughtful with giving them an update. The man answering said they called us already stating our insurance is not active. (Mind you, I called that same morning and confirmed it's indeed active). I asked him the number they called AND LOW AND BEHOLD it was the OLD phone number. So for the FOURTH time I had him update our phone number. They get their crap straightened out and then confirm oh yea, our insurance is fine. So much stress and time wasted for nothing. I had called them so many times confirming everything to be on the up and up and to experience all of this nonsense was very frustrating and stressful. 3) Last time for my kids cleaning in July (I think), they stated they could knock out my son's fillings in 2 days back to back as they knew we were traveling far and spending $ to stay overnight. So they helped us schedule a Thursday and Friday for our son. When we get there, the Dentist informed the hygienist and the hygienist informed us that she only works on one region at a time and we would have to come back a couple more times!!! Imagine going in thinking we are getting this all taken care of, we take off work $$$$ spend $$$$ on a place to stay overnight, spend $$$ on fuel and a hell of a lot of time driving with three kids only to learn we will have to do this all over again?! Unbelievable and to me, unacceptable. The horrible front staff played a huge role in this but so did the previous hygienist at time of cleaning stating we could get this done in a back to back 2 day sweep. Something this important should be COMMON KNOWLEDGE at a place of work, especially in a dental office. 4) After so many instances year after year, my husband and I have had enough. We asked staff for our children's dental records 10/09/20 at 2:16pm. No reply. I emailed them AGAIN 10-22-20 1:52pm NO REPLY again. At this point I am so stressed out with their incompetence, I ask my husband to call them and he does. So then they email us a lame attachment with no words in the email, it's a form for us to fill out so records could be sent to a new dentist. Yeah, I know it's law they give them to us... not to mention we specifically asked for our kids records. So then my husband emails them again stating we simply want our kids X-rays. FINALLY today, 10-28-20 at 11:31 am they send all records in one email of our three kids X-rays. Took nearly 3 WEEKS which to me is unacceptable. Never had I had to pull so many strings and waste so much of my time for something so simple. In the past, I have received my own records from other Dental offices that SAME DAY with zero issues. Update: years later after my awful experience with smile ranch I decided to go see a dentist (the fillings she did for me still hurt years later) and get a cleaning. When I initially wrote this review I decided not to complete the other side of mouth which according to the smile ranch dentist had numerous cavities passed healing.. To my pleasant surprise almost 3 years later I had no cavities on the side of my mouth I didn't get filled... According to this dentist I had many. In fact the only work the new dentist wanted to do is to redo two of the fillings completed by smile ranch on the other side of my mouth .. These are the fillings that have been hurting since I got them done. Turns out they were not well done and there are issues with them... One of the biggest regrets of my life is coming to this dentist! It has cost me a lot of pain (more than before I stepped foot into this office) discomfort (I have numbing and other issues in my jaw after getting work done here) and money (they misquoted me how much it would even be). I wanted to love this practice because of the holistic approach. However both my son and I received extensive dental treatment plans that were extremely aggressive. She recommended 6 to 7 crowns for me and eight fillings for my seven year old child. After getting a second opinion I do not need crowns (only fillings) and my son only needs 2 to 3 fillings. i'm afraid this office is trying to build a business instead of doing what is best for the patients. I have no tolerance for this kind of aggressive treatment, especially when it comes to children. The pediatric dentist doing the second opinion also pointed out a failing filling that Smile Ranch did. The filling wasn't done correctly and infection spread to a nearby tooth, which now requires him to have a crown! Stay away. Do not trust them. They charge exorbitant prices and finagle the insurance to their benefit. I had had periodontal surgery, which they were well aware of as they had referred me to an amazing perio doctor. I went back for a cleaning to them, not the doctor who did the surgery, just because they accepted the insurance. I booked a cleaning. They brought me in, poked around and the doctor came back and said I need a $536 cleaning. I said I had booked for a cleaning, and they said, well, okay, we can fit you in, again for $536. I said I can't afford that and opted to leave. They then billed $279 to poke around my mouth and for simple x-rays. On the way out, they wanted me to book for $4,000 worth of mercury extractions after I just told them I couldn't afford a $536 cleaning. And again, they knew my insurance wouldn't cover that. I then called my periodontal surgeon back to see how much he'd charge for a cleaning, no insurance. I was quoted a price well below $200. He was going to charge less than half the price sh quoted and he's a specialist. Abramczyk is a general dentist and wanted to charge me over $700 for the same service as an actual specialist. They claim to be holistic, but only in words. She and her staff are soul suckers and money leaches. As they say, you'll know them by their fruits and hers are rotten. read more

Please do not go to this Dentist, they are overbilling, billing incorrect family members for procedures, will pressure you to get unnecessary work done, and are very rude!!! My family went to Smile Ranch for a few years, until we started receiving bills that were inaccurate, overcharges, or charges to the wrong person. We also didn't like the fact that they pressured you do have work done, and made you wait to meet with the scheduling/finance person every time we went. I'm not buying a car are you serious. During my last visit to this dentist they referred me to an Endodontic in Rockwall for the second time to see if I needed a route canal and if not Smile Ranch wanted to re-cap my tooth. I went to the specialist and he for the second time said your tooth is fine, do not let them cap it or you will need a route canal. This endodontic also said he sent this information to Smile Ranch and questioned why they sent me back, so for a third opinion I went to a local dentist who agreed with the endodontic and said leave the tooth alone. So when Smile Ranch called trying to schedule me a visit for this tooth I told them what both dentist said and the lady became very upset and argumentative. Very unprofessional. read more

Dr. A is such a true heaven sent and everyone in her staff is very warm, friendly, and knowledgeable. Their approach with my 21 month old was so gentle and loving, and they thoroughly listened to my concerns, made me feel like I was family, put my mind at ease, gave emotional support, were positive, answered all of my many questions and guided me in the right direction. I live in Florida and visit family in Texas and I haven't been able to find a dentist that truly cares for each individual and does so naturally, with products that are healing in every way and not detrimental to my babies health. I was warned, but I did not listen. A few friends and family tried this dentist office and said the office personnel were awful. I am pretty easy to get along with and thought it would be worth the holistic approach to dentistry. Boy, was I wrong! I just read these poor reviews here and agree with them all. I would have to write a mini-novel to explain all the issues. To sum it up: (1) We had scheduling issues when we showed up (2) They told us we had a ton of cavities between the 6 of us in my family. (When I went back to my old dentist who we moved away from, I got a different story. We will just be making the commute back to the old dentist from now on!) (3) WARNING: DO NOT SIGN PAPERS IF THEY TELL YOU PROCEDURES ARE COVERED AND IT'S JUST A FORMALITY TO SIGN THEM. They are dishonest and trick you into paying more... We are on a very tight budget. I requested my family and I only have done what our insurance covers 100%. This is what I have done for the last 15 years without any issue at my other dentist office/ doctor offices without any issue. We were told to just sign the consent paper that we are responsible if insurance doesn't pay as a formality- that our insurance did cover these procedures 100%. I made a big to-do here because we could not afford to do anything extra. I was very upfront about this. Now, they want to "settle" for a discounted amount. I will have to for my ignorance in believing them when they said it was covered, but just sign it as a formality. I could go into more negative details but this gives enough warning to stay away. I'm sorry to say that I won't be returning to this dental office after my first visit yesterday. I found the staff, except for 1 dental hygienist, to be semi-professional (at best). First of all, I suppose I just can't understand why my mouth had to be used to train the new gal how to take x-rays. There were several attempts to get the money shot x-ray and even a demo to show the newbie how to hold the x-ray device correctly while taking another picture. I also didn't care for the fact that I had to ASK for the protection garment prior to the x-rays. This same new girl put the blood pressure cuff around my elbow and tried to start the machine. LOL, I adjusted it for her and it still was a flop. To add insult to injury, It wasn't a very comfortable environment to begin with. The decor and dark wall colors are very outdated. Not something you would think of as being a professional dental office. How has someone not noticed how dusty and torn-a-part the BIG, fake floral arrangement is in the lobby? When I arrived, there wasn't anyone sitting at the front desk (that person was out for the day) and I had to lean over to get the attention of one of the ladies behind the partition wall. I felt like I interrupted her from something else. It kind of started off in a weird way and went down hill from there. As far as my exam results, I was handed an estimate totaling $12,770.00 to remove 5 mercury amalgams and to be replaced with porcelain/ceramic crowns. This includes $ 620.00 worth of Vit.C IV's and acupressure treatments and $250.00 for a lab fee to have a test done (G6 testing) to see if my body will even accept the VitC IV.... If I want to be sedated, I can tack on another $2,600.00. I'm almost okay with this over-priced estimate because I do believe there has to be extra precaution taken when dealing with mercury. I just don't feel comfortable with the staff. Nothing about this visit went smoothly. Believe me, I wanted it to work out. I drove an hour from my house just to seek a holistic dentist. I think I'll have to drive a little further because this one just isn't going to work. I won't even go into all the other unsettling details of my visit. I can't tell you how happy I was once I was back in my car and heading home. Personally, I don't think Dr. Abramczyk has a clue what's going on in her own office with the staff. Maybe she does but I don't think so. Most doctors would have a "come to Jesus" meeting to get things like what I saw and experienced yesterday, all ironed out. Either that or there would be a big fire and re-hire event, immediately! I'm truly not trying to be hateful with this review. I think it's important that other people know the truth when it comes to serious things like picking a doctor or dentist. My wife and i had a baby a few days ago, our baby is having trouble breast feeding and needs a frenectomy. We called this morning to set up an appointment, and they said they could "probably get us in today" but that they needed to check on whether we needed a referral from an LC. I was told I would recieve a call back. I never did. When I called back the representative told me that not only did we need a referral from a LC, we also needed proof that the baby had been to a chiropractor. (WTF?) The assessment of the frenulum is a 5 minute procedure as is the frenectomy. I don't know what kind of woo woo BS these goons are peddling but I would stay as far away as you can. read more

I had a terrible experience at this office. I wanted to love Smile Ranch because I value a holistic approach to health, however, left the office grossly disappointed. Dr. Abramczyk acted extremely unprofessional during my visit to the point of seeming unwell. She appeared over-booked and distracted. Her office staff, including the hygienist, the office manager and the receptionist, apologized for her rude behavior multiple times. I was handed a piece of paper that was my "treatment plan" at the check out line that was never reviewed during my visit and when I had questions about the extensive dental work she had proposed (totaling almost $10,000), she did not have time to answer my questions and actually walked off. I was then directed to ask the office manager my specific dental treatment questions. This is poor patient-care. I left feeling very unsettled. On the way home from my visit I called the office manager to discuss my concerns and she assured me she would call me back. I never received a call. It was confirmed by my current holistic dentist that I actually needed only a small fraction of the dental work Dr. Abramczyk had suggested. So glad I didn't go forward with that unnecessary drilling! Stay far away from this office! Worst dental experience I have ever had in my life. Does good work but fails miserably when filing insurance. I had work done in 2014 and a year after the work I received a bill out of the blue for $600. I was told that the person on staff had been replaced because she didn't take care of insurance filings and had let everything pile up. I was told the new person would take care of it but she has not. I was told an appeal had been filed but it had not been. I attempted to file my own appeal and it was denied because more than 180 days had passed since the work. 2 years worth of stress over this only to find out that I was out of luck from the very beginning before I ever knew there was a problem. I attempted multiple phone calls and had no one return my call. I have finally resolved to just pay the bill and tell everyone I know to never visit this office or at least make sure all of your work is pre-approved. Do not go here. The dentist told me I needed like 15 cavities replaced a crown and I don't even remember what else. I reluctantly started with the crown. They did the temporary crown and 8 weeks passed they never called to tell me my crown came in I ended up having to go to an emergency dentist bc I was having extreme pain and then the temporary broke. So that cost me an extra $100+ dollars. I then find out I don't need even half of what they said so who knows if I even needed the crown to begin with. I finally think I'm done with these freaking idiots and they start sending me collections for another $200 because they apparently can't do math either. The girl at the front desk is stupid. she messed up more appointments than I can even recall for myself my husband and my daughter. My husband never even ended up going because even though we had an appointment confirmed she some how cancelled it. Then the day before it was rescheduled she called and asked if we could cancel it and reschedule. Did that twice with my daughter too. She charged me an extra $30 for supplements because she doesn't know how to do that either and instead of giving me a refund because she's incredibly lazy she said they'd have to take it off my payments for the crown. SURPRISE they never did. I had to call and argue about it. I seriously have never regretted going to a dentist so badly in my entire life and that sucks because I was really excited about their "beliefs". Hopefully our experience can tell you a bit more about who they are- My family has been going to Smile Ranch for a few years now. Everyone is so nice and my children always look forward to their visits. I have 5 children ranging from 7 months to just shy of 10yrs. I held off on taking my children to the dentist longer than I should have, my oldest was 6 her first dentist visit. I was so worried because I knew I wanted a holistic dentist but on top of that my oldest is "extra special". I knew it would be a challenge finding a dentist office that could work with her and have not only the patience to work with her but the ability to make her feel comfortable enough to cooperate. Smile Ranch has always worked with us for a positive experience. My oldest has a lot of doctors appointments and I can honestly say her visits to Smile Ranch she always looks forward to. Smile Ranch is a family friendly place and they go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. Our experience with cleanings has always been great. My children look forward to them and seeing their "friends"- the hygienists.. We met with Dr. Ward (the orthodontist) last month to create a plan for our children to have some work done. What a fun guy! I was so worried that my oldest wouldn't have anything to do with him as we don't normally have a positive experience with her and male doctors. He made it fun for the kids. He was able to do what he needed with them giggling almost the entire time.My oldest wasn't standoffish with him and has even said she is looking forward to going back and getting her mouth piece. Almost all of my children have had lip or tongue tie. Dr. Abramczyk has corrected my 7 month olds lip, tongue and cheek ties, it was a great experience. He was about 2 months old when the procedure was done and the before and after difference was amazing. I couldn't nurse without pain. My baby starting becoming colicky. It was horrible!! Immediately after the procedure my baby stopped having gas, and I was no longer in pain. I also felt more confident in my sons aftercare because of the follow up care I received from Dr. Abramczyk. I really should've written a tongue tie review months ago. I thought about it many times but honestly, life is busy and I kept putting it off thinking I would eventually get around to it... Which leads me to why I am finally taking the time to write the review I've mentally written several times. :) Today my 7 year old high drama daughter had an appointment for some fillings. Internally I was dreading this appointment. I knew there would be tears and that when all was done, this child that needs work done in her mouth might not be so willing to go to the dentist anymore. I truly thought this was the end to our easy dentist visits. On the drive there I was planning the rest of the day and thinking of what I would do to cheer her up after we left. This is how great this place is..... My daughter didn't even know she got a shot, she didn't even know Dr. Abramczyk had to drill her teeth. All she knows is that she had some cavities filled and it was different from her normal visit because her mouth was really numb and "her friends" made her a smoothie with whip cream. This was such a positive experience for her that when they mentioned having a spot open for tomorrow morning at 7:30am if we wanted to get the other side done then, SHE jumped on it and thinks it's great that she gets to go 2x in one week. She is looking forward to her mouth feeling funny again (kids!) and choosing a toy from the treasure box. AMAZING!!! No need for mom to cheer her up. I had to write about this experience as it's almost opposite of what I expected. I remember my dentist visits growing up, they weren't pleasant. My kids enjoy theirs, that's such a blessing! I feel that these positive experiences will help them develop a lifelong association to their teeth and caring for them, which is so important for over all lifelong health. We set up my cleaning and exam when I arrived I was seen very quickly and I have been in offices waiting 30 min plus and could see the dentist just hanging out with employees then apologize to me for the delay not at smile Ranch. I am so happy I found this office!! They are the real deal if your looking for a truly holistic dentist. The staff was very nice and answered all my questions. My hygienist was awesome and my teeth felt super clean! Dr. Abramczyk was nice and seemed to care about the health of my whole body, not just my teeth. I even got a warm towel and an organic juice after my cleaning. I only gave them 4 stars because I had to wait about 10min. past my appointment time but they had vaxxed playing in the waiting room so I got hooked on that anyway. I especially loved the essential oils that were diffused in the whole office. I will definitely be returning and referring my family. Dr. Abramczyk and her staff are fantastic. I don't like going to any dentist, but her approach makes it tolerable. I feel like when I'm there that they really care about my comfort. She's very into a holistic approach. She has a massage therapist giving arm and hand massages, essential oils to help you relax, fresh vegetable juice, she's against Mercury and fluoride.... Her employees are also very welcoming and take excellent care of me and my husband. I have been to many dentists over the years and she is by far the best I've seen. read more

I went in for a second opinion last year. Most of the exam was done by a hygienist. When Dr. A came in for the exam, I asked her to explain what she was telling the hygienist. She said, "Oh, she'll tell you." She had them bring in brochures about the supplements she sells, and she 'read' my tongue and face and told me to stay away from salt (which our body needs), but would not talk to me about my teeth. The hygienist had a hush hush conversation with the office manager, who took me in to her office and gave me a treatment plan for 8 crowns!!! I guess they thought my insurance would pay for it, but they do not cover all porcelain crowns at all. The office manager was trying to use the xrays and photos to explain why I needed all these crowns (mostly to replace fillings) but she pointed to stain (from tetracycline) and said it was decay! It wasn't. I subsequently saw three other dentists that all agreed I did not need to replace my fillings with crowns. I went to another holistic dentist out of town and replaced one crown b/c it had metal in it and had an onlay on another tooth. I'm shocked at her invasive treatment plan (which she would not even discuss with me) recommending expensive traumatic work that was not even needed. And she claims to be Christian and has scripture on her website and also says on her website we use minimally invasive treatment. Looks to me like they wanted to take advantage of me and my insurance with invasive treatment. I also did not like the sage being burned at the same time oil was being diffused - too many odors. Overall it was a very stressful experience. However, later on the office manager was nice enough to give me the names of other holistic dentists in Texas where I might get ozonated olive oil treatment for my gums, which facilitated me learning about and receiving treatment for cavitations. read more

Came in for opinion about replacing my amalgam fillings for safe fillings. The amount was $8000 and when I heard the price I almost had a heart attack. To top that off her assistant Carolyn told me that I needed to have this done immediate as my teeth may not last another few months. I got another opinion and Dr Statler in Wylie said it all looked good and removing the silver should only be done if there's a problem as the removal can cause more problems than it solves. read more

I left my appointment needing thousands of dollars of repair work including a crown, several fillings and a root canal removal. The dentist and even the scheduling and insurance people were trying to bully me into getting an appointment very quickly (RED FLAG!), so I went and got a 2nd opinion and that dentist said I did not need any dental work done. 6 months have passed and I just had another followup appointment with my 2nd opinion dentist and am still in the clear.
