Last visit was for a split molar, I was told they do not take the insurance, I paid out of pocket for tooth removal. I was told this is after multiple visits. Now I am receiving notification for a bill over $700 and I have insurance. Why would anyone go to a dentist out of network unnecessarily! We would have found another dentist in network. For a children's speciality practice, it's amazing how they aren't considerate of timing. I came here on 3 separate appointments and not once were they running even close to on schedule. The first time I waited over an hour. I complained twice and the receptionist was rude. I understand emergencies happen, but then communicate that with your waiting patients. The second time I waited almost 40 minutes to be seen. I was also moved to wait in the practice down the hall because they had so many people waiting and no space to seat everyone. The third time was about a 20 minute wait. Not terrible. However the point that upset me was I stepped into the hallway to answer a phone call and left my daughter waiting in the room (6yr old). When I stepped back in shortly they had called her to the back and was already putting a bib on her to clean her teeth and she was tearing up because she used to be scared of the dentist. That was not appropriate. They should have had her get me as she knew where I was. Needless to say that was my last straw. We are now at a different children's dental practice who respects my time and my daughters fear of the dentist is gone. read more

I stopped in yesterday to make an appointment because I was next door with my daughter at the orthodontist. Let me just say I've been bringing my daughter here for over 10 years and I've never had a problem. However yesterday the front desk staff was very rude for no reason at all. The women who took my appointment was ok but no one even said hello. Just how can I help you? It felt like I was bothering them. One lady was on the phone and she rolled her eyes when I said I wanted to make an appointment. The entire interaction was just weird and awkward. Even my daughter asked me was we supposed to come inside to make an appointment. I'm not sure if I'll be back. Again the staff in the back are wonderful and I've never had a problem. read more

I started taking my daughter to this facility because it was a convenient location to my house and they had appointments on the weekends. The dentist seemed nice and the atmosphere was kid friendly but the wait time both times where outrages. I asked the front desk if they are a UFT preferred provider and they said "yes" they are. The first visit they charged me $20 for a fluoride treatment for my 2 year old(which was unnecessary). The second visit was an emergency visit in which the dentist did not do anything, she looked at my daughter's teeth and said everything was fine. I later received a bill in the mail. When I tried to inquire why I got a bill, they told me to call my insurance company. My insurance told me they are not a preferred provider and they are out of network. I called Smile-Savers and explained what my insurance provider said and I asked why they would tell me that they are a preferred provider when they are clearly not? The receptionist was very dismissive, she put me on hold three times and spoke to other customers while I was speaking and after all that still had no answers. I was so disappointed at the lack of accountability, the deceit and lack of transparency when it comes to billing - I like to be told what to expect and how much a visit will cost me. I would not recommend this place, they are money hungry and just about appearances - they are not really about quality patient service. I will not be coming back and I will for sure spread the word so that no one else falls for these traps. read more

I've been coming here for years with my children and the service we receive is always pleasant as well as the staff, but just like another reviewer's review, the wait time is insane just like the rescheduling. They make an appointment for a certain time, you come 15 min before your appointment and still you're seen well after your appointed time. read more

Don't think you're going to make it to the 6 months appointment. Took my daughter for a visit 8 months ago and the doctor was annoyed that I asked her to repeat the care plan. As I was trying to make her follow up appointment for 6 months out. There wasn't any available. So again 8 months out and there are no weekend/late afternoon appointments. Working families please be ready to take a day off to take your kids to the dentist. Lastly, the front desk female who started to check in my daughter was so rude and nasty while she insisted that my daughter went to another dentist less than 6 months at another office. While I tried to explain that was not accurate she cut me off and didn't let me finish telling me "well you have a bill today and we can't see her until that's settled". Meanwhile when they confirmed the appointment yesterday no one told me about a balance. And again when I said no one told me this yesterday when you called. I saw a lot of recommendations in a mom group and was excited to be able to take my son to a bronx location with specialty on kids. The space is very pretty, clean and lots of kid friendly activities. Unfortunately our experience was traumatic. This was his first time ever at the dentist. My son was about 15 months. He was visibly nervous and unsure what was going on. There was no genuine attempt to get him comfortable with equipment or setting. The entire process was rushed and forced. When the dentist assessed him he was still crying and screaming and she still proceeded to attempt to talk to me. I continued saying I couldn't hear what she was saying. There was no Acknowledgment on to what I was expressing. I am a first time parent and was clueless to methods that could have been utilized. For some time I thought it was just part of the process but I see that it was just low quality practices. read more

I was very impressed with the level of caring and respect shown by the entire staff. The service was great from the assistance of the receptionist to staff at the back office. The staff were upfront about what was being done with my three kids and walked me through each procedure being completed and what was needed in the future. Making appointments was hassle free and the environment was totally warm and relaxing for my kids. I was pleased..but great thing is that my kids were totally pleased and are looking forward to their return visit. read more

If I could I would give this establishment a zero rating. The customer service is nonexistent. After over 12 years of using this provider I was told that they could not service me because I missed my appointment time due to speaking to my insurance company while I was in their office. To add flames to the fire my dentist told me that they would not bill me for my cleaning, even though my insurance company explained that they made an error and that my insurance would be back dated to January 2018 within one weeks time. In addition, Tanisha at the front desk is rude and disrespectful. Dr. Finlay refused to come out and meet with me to discuss the matter. They are amazing with kids. I was nervous about taking my 6 year old here, but they (the entire staff there) are great. My son who does not stay still and gets nervous around doctors, had his x-rays and teeth cleaning and in our 2nd visit a month ago he had two teeth extracted and I was so scared for him that I was actually on the verge of tears. But they gave him novocain and then pulled both teeth and my son had zero clue what they did... I mean seriously, he felt a tiny pinch he said and when they took his teeth out he didn't know they did it. Oh my god, I was so thankful to them for him not being traumatized lol. I absolutely LOVE this dentist. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by their awesome friendly staff, who greeted my son by his name and made him feel comfortable. We waited about 5 minutes and were called in, i was very nervous being that it was my son's first dentist visit. However, all the nervousness went away once greeted by doctors Nyer and Zultowsky. I felt so comfortable with the doctors taking care of my son. They were extremely friendly and knew exactly what to do to distract the kids from feeling scared or nervous. The office is beautifully setup with beautiful colors and kid friendly decorations. My son was so happy with his cleaning. As a worried, nervous mother i searched the internet over and over trying to find a great dentist. After finding this place i will NEVER look again!! I took my 6yr old son in the morning to get his tooth pulled, he was extremely nervous being that it was his first time getting a needle. As soon as we went to the back the dental assistant was very pleasant and cheerful which made my son feel very comfortable, her name was Elsie. She made us both feel comfortable enough to share my son's first Christmas show story with her. By the end of the Christmas show story my son went from nervous to excited to get his tooth pulled. Elsie kept checking in on us. She spoke very calmly and assured my son that everything would go fine. Dr. Finaly came in and evaluated my son mouth. She is amazing. She saw to my suprise another tooth that needed to be pulled, and another that needed a sealant. Dr. Finally and Eslie worked quickly and so beautifully on my son. I don't see myself ever going to another dentist. I live in the Bronx and commute 1 hour to Dr. Finalys office and it is totally worth the commute. You can tell when people love what they do. Elsie and Dr. Finaly are incredible. I recommend my friends and family to visit Smile-Savers Pediatric in Co-op city 2100Bartow Ave. I wish I could give the 10 stars. GREAT EXPERIENCE! ! My daughter has been a patient here for about 3 years.. despite the poor scheduling options... she went in for a root canal this fall I paid 50 dollars for the laughing gas.. I found it strange I was not sent home with any follow up care instructions, a follow up appointment or antibiotics. Yesterday we noticed a large abscess had formed directly above the crowns that were placed on her teeth. I called and was told it was an emergency and she had to be brought in right away her dad rushed her there only to be turned away because their was an issue with her insurance and they would not see her unless the payment was paid before she entered the room. I informed them that he had not brought his wallet and I did not have any card to pay over the phone at the moment and I'd be more then happy to be billed and charged but they did not budge.Your children are not viewed as patients here they are just paying customers even after they have deemed a situation an emergency. Caroline clearly stated you weren't comfortable writing an appeal for a mouth guard, in the contrary, you informed me that you were going to make my daughter's night guard bigger so she can grow into it. You decided not to write the appeal because of what took place in your office, which is why I wrote my previous review. My son was so excited when I told him he has an appointment at this place. But after my experience today I think I will find another place to take him, the worst part is that we didn't even get to go yet. I called to find out what day the appointment was for and time, I booked it back in November. I was put on hold for 20 minutes. I finally hung up. When I called back I said It was unacceptable to have a person on hold for 20 minutes the young lady said "I don't know who put you on hold" it was her same person. But I let it pass. So finally I asked to confirm my son's appointment she told me it was today at 2:30pm. So now of course we missed the appointment. I asked her don't you guys give reminder calls? She said we did call you. I told her no you did not call me. She doubled checked the numbers and I am like what the heck, who set up my appointment those are not even close to my numbers. Then there schedule is not accommodating at all because of my sons again he can only be seen in the afternoon and Saturdays are booked up until July.
