I visited Golden Oak Dental a couple of days ago. We came in to get a second opinion because another dentist told us that my 11-year-old daughter had some cavities (for the first time). Upon entering the office, my daughter and I both made eye contact and smiled. This office doesn't feel like a cold and sterile environment- it almost feels like someone's cozy home. We had to wait to be seen for a super long time, but as soon as we met the assistant and dentist, I realized the experience was worth the wait. my daughter and I both both appreciated how the assistant spoke to her and asked questions to make sure she was comfortable. When the doctor came in, he was quick, but thorough. He answered all of our questions, and confirmed that yes, my daughter needed to have some cavities filled. We made an appointment for the very next day. Unfortunately, we were not able to have the work done because my daughter was very nervous. I want to share that Ellie and Doctor S. were wonderful with her, though. They tried everything they could think of to calm her down, and were incredibly patient. We ended up leaving with a referral to see a pediatric dentist. This place is not the most fancy, new, or high-end looking dentist office, but the people here really care, and their prices are fair. Nobody looks forward to going to the dentist--if you do then you've got some serious mental problems--but if you're smart you'll see a dentist regularly and I suggest Golden Oaks Dental Group on Lyons Avenue in Newhall. Yes, Golden Oak is in a funky building on Lyons Avenue the interior of which looks like it could be the dining hall at the Renaissance Faire (no jousting allowed!!) and for the most part the furniture doesn't match. But decor is not my priority when it comes to dental health and within five minutes you'll forget the wobbly sofa and feel like family although I wouldn't let my Uncle Sid stick sharp objects in my mouth. Fortunately Dr. Emil is nothing like my Uncle Sid. Dr. Emil's primary concerns are diagnosing and solving any problems, keeping your teeth healthy, doing the work with almost no discomfort, keeping you well-informed throughout the process and doing it at a cost that is well below what you would pay to a dentist in a medical building. And his staff is terrific: kind, gentle, friendly and extremely competent--very much unlike the stuffy employees you'll find in most dental offices. If you have a dental emergency (pain!!) they'll find a way to get you in ASAP and eliminate the pain, then determine a course of action to permanently resolve the issue. I couldn't be happier with the care I received from Dr. Emil, Nancy and Luci and I'm willing to bet a root canal that you'll feel the same way! read more

A very pleasant experience! I was going to the same dentist for about 15 years, but she had recently retired. I chipped a tooth earlier this month in the middle of the night and didn't have time to make it to my own dentist, so my brother referred me to Dr. Emil Simanian at Golden Oak Dental. Dr. Simanian was able to see me the next morning as an emergency. I had significant work done and I was very pleased with the overall experience. He has an excellent chair side manners and was very patient with me. Her staff was very courteous, and the office setting was clean and welcoming. I recently moved to the Santa Clarita area last year, and have been looking for a great dentist for months. I've finally found one. When I called to set an appointment, I was assisted by one of the front staff members who was extremely professional, courteous and helpful. Upon my arrival, when I met Dr. Simanian I immediately felt at ease as he explained his course of action in terms of my dental work.   I cannot emphasize enough what professionalism and compassion Dr. Simanian exuded, which I find extremely important as I suffer from dentist anxiety. Very unprofessional. I had a massive toothache and they helped resolve the issue. Grateful for that, but as far as billing and costs, I do not recommend. I was charged $200 day of tooth extraction and still had an outstanding balance of $300. Along with another $450 for deep cleaning and laser therapy that had to be done. Couple weeks later I received an EOB from my insurance company saying my balance with deductible should of only been $73.20, I called back various times for an explanation and couldn't receive a legitimate response, they would email me some paperwork which to this day has yet to be received. She let me go when I was still bleeding too much and that was after taking x-rays and missing two chips of bone, a third is now working it's way out. And lying about all of it. Absolutely love Golden Oak Dental!! From Dr Emil. To the tech Nancy. They are all great. I had a tooth emergency and was able to get in first thing Monday morning. Had to get a tooth pulled after a failed root canal done a few months ago and they were very quick and efficient. I haven't been the the dentist in a while like many I never expected the experience to be great, but I had been waiting 45 mins and you could see that they were filtering people through as two people have been helped before me, even though they came in 20 mins after me... The places initial customer service was upsetting to say the least. After being helped I was very pleased by the sincere customer service given by the assistant, as well as the doctor. Absolutely will never go to this dentist again. Came in three different times and got three different diagnosis from three different dentist, tried to overcharge what my insurance covers, and then with argumentative over getting a refund. Had to contact my insurance company to find out they were over billing. Took my credit card information to refund my card, two weeks later was told I'd have to come pick up a check, when I came in to pick up the check the told me that I would have to have it refunded to my card. Between the three different diagnosis and the absolutely poor office staff I would never recommend going to this dentist. You should always feel comfortable trusting what your dentist tells you and when you have three dentist tell you three different things and contradict the other two trust goes right out the window. read more

I never changed dentists but due to an insurance change I had to change and when I came here I really felt so comfortable the receptionists were so friendly and understood how scared I was and attempted to make me more comfortable. One star means zero or minus one. I got insurance and choose this doctor because the office is just a 12 minutes walk from where I live. Emergency happened and went there on a Monday 3.40 PM. The office was closed. The sign says: open from Monday-Friday until 5 PM, lunch from 1-2. I waited 50 minutes, nothing, left several messages on the phone. They called me back the next day and said: we close early on Mondays/no sign about it,it was my first visit/, anyway we don't take walk- in patients. About the hours they said: you should see there is nobody inside, no lights on, it means , we are closed. Extremly rude assistant, who didn't reveal her name. I assume the doctor has another office, so she went there. If I assume well the other office is in Beverly Hills. It's only an educated guess. Go figure. I'm still in shock. I was looking for a dentist that would be easy on my pocket since I do not have Dental Insurance, I had an issue with my gum and was painful . My daughter was helping me to find a good dentist. She found Golden Oak Dental. iI got there and I was so nervous because I had a bad experience with a different dental office. Dr. Mitra Simanian the owner, introduced herself, she is a very beautiful, classy and generous woman. The office manager, is so nice explained the procedures and how much I had to pay since I am a cash patient , I ask her to please ask Dr. Samanian if she would please give me a discount on my bill , she was so wonderful and without any hesitation , gave me a nice break on my pocket . I was still not sure about the dental procedure , and the fear of the unknown , I I thought just follow my appointment nothing to loose . I came back for my first visit and I was introduced to Dr. Kim , she told me don't be nervous I promise you won't feel any pain, she was right , the procedure went so amazing and she kept on asking me if I was ok, Dr. Kim is so wonderful ,sweet and very gentile , I went for my second treatment with out any fear , I knew I was in great hands. I found golden oak dental through my insurance company. I went there for a chipped filling. I waited an hour to be seen for xrays. After the xrays Mitra Simanian came in, she went into how she didn't like saying things about other dentists but all of previous fillings were done wrong and all of my teeth needed to be redone. She also suggested veneers. I just wanted my tooth fixed, I scheduled an apt for a week and a half later. 2 days before my apt a lady named Desiree called me from there office. She said the were going to do 3 teeth and that my portion would be $22,000 dollars. I stopped her to clarify, and again she said I needed to give them $22,000 dollars and suggested I open a line of credit. I told her I was reporting their office to my insurance company. When I called my insurance they called over there and suddenly the price changed from $22,000 to $2,200. I then had my insurance open an investigation which has now wrapped up. What was discovered by the ins is the following: Your dentist notes/ x-rays do not include a diagnosis or medical need. This dental work cannot be done because no need for the treatment was found. Your notes/ xrays do not include one or more of the following: A diagnosis or clinical rationale for necessity. They were going to drill into teeth that were healthy, that is malpractice. This mother and son dental racket should have charges brought against them for what they are clearly doing to all their patients. What's worse is they will drill in to your children's healthy teeth without cause, so they can steal from you and your insurance company. *WARNING* read more

Don't go here for dentures. These people do not have a clue when it comes to that. Their oral surgeon has zero bedside manner. She is more of a dental observer than anything else. The kids working there are nice, but seem like they are under a lot of pressure. The denture manufacturer told them my dentures were junk and she wouldn't accept it. Send them away for a week at a time and come back worst than before. I went back because the surgeon missed a tooth, it is still there. A lot of money down the drain, I will never go back read more

This dental office is operated by mother Mitra Simanian and her son (I do not remember his name). These individuals showed to me that they are not professionals, but low and vindictive persons. The following sentences will describe their treatment of me, a client. My new insurance assigned me to this office. Due to my eminent surgery, I had to take care of any infection in my mouth, per my doctor's instructions. When I was in their office for the first time, the office technician took the x-rays of my entire mouth, the son went over the pictures and referred me to the Endodontix for teeth 3, 7 and 18. At this time I told the son that I wanted the tooth no.18 to be extracted because it was no good, which he confirmed, but referred me to Endodontix to see if it could be saved. I asked him if he could do the extraction and he replied "Yes."I went to Endodontix's office a day later and the office gave me the price for tooth 3 and 7. When I scheduled an appointment with Golden Oak Dental, to have the tooth no.18 extracted, I asked Matthew (appointment person at that time) to make sure that the extraction would happen because I had to take the antibiotic two hours before the procedure. He replied "For sure we will do it." A day before the extraction, I called in again, and asked Matthew again to make sure the extraction will take place because I need to take 2000 mg of the antibiotic. He put me on hold for 3-4 min., came back and said "You are good to go." On 6/12/19, at the time of the appointment, the front desk charged my credit card with $30 for the share of the expense I was responsible for. While I was sitting at the dentist chair, the assistant brought in all necessary extraction tools and put them on the tray, 2-3 feet away from me, taking each peace from the sealed transparent cover. Dentist came in and was ready to extract the tooth no.18, but I wanted to ask him first about the tooth no. 3. I wanted to know if it would possible for him to have a new crown, oppose to go to the Endodontix office for this tooth. He told me he would do the new crown (because of the decay), but would need to refer me to specialist to do the root canal. After the insurance lady told me that my insurance does not cover any of the crown's portion because they do not use porcelain/metal crowns (my insurance pays for porcelain/metal crowns), I told her that I needed to get a second opinion. The mother tried to convince me that they would bring the specialist to the office, and I would need to go to other places. The insurance lady came back to tell me that the dentist cannot do the extraction and would need to refer me to the specialist. As you can see, because I wanted to get a second opinion on the tooth no 3, they refused to extract my tooth number 18, even thought: 1) I confirmed the extraction twice, 2) they scheduled the appointment for 6/12/19, 3) took $30 from me, 4) made me take 2000 mg of the antibiotic at 9:30 am, and 5) all the tools were ready for the extraction. This terrible treatment has greatly affected me. I am reporting them to the Dental Board of California ((916) 263-2300 or (877) 729-7789-complaint unit)), California Department of Managed Health Care (www.dmhc.ca.gov.), Business Better Bureau of California (bbb.org/complain) etc. read more
