    Raspberry Custard!
    Karen L.

Omg, this place is wonderful. My friend told me to go, so I stuck it onto my Pie Tour. I walked into this CUTE bakery, and it smelled like heaven. People were so nice and patient, they answered my questions very politely. Between the 2 of us we got 2 slices: Raspberry Custard and Coconut Cream Pie. They were both magical. The Raspberry Custard was by far superior, but I'm biased because I love custard AND it had a delicious crumble on top. Everything was amazing. This place...geez! I cannot wait to go back. This place is cash only or checks so make sure you stop by the ATM.

Two things that I HIGHLY recommend are: the lavender ginger cookies, and the carmelized onions and sour cream focaccia.

The space is really bright, clean, and open with an easily navigated layout. The staff was friendly and they were having fun while joking and listening to the radio. They've got coffee and some basic lattes but mainly selling baked goods. I tried a few things and all were fantastic. The vanilla concha was insanely soft and had a nice subtle flavor without the baking soda bitterness you sometimes get. The coconut bun was my personal favorite. Same dough but with a sugar paste and coconut flake topping. One of my litmus tests is pan de feria and theirs didn't disappoint. Crazy soft with a nice, subtle sweetness. It's a hike from my house but you know I'll be back if I'm in the area. Definitely recommend if you're looking for sandwich rolls or any sweet pastries.

I was really hoping to like Don Pancho's Bakery, but the bread just was not very good. The service…read morewas okay, and it is honestly hard to find really good panaderías in Minnesota, so I had high hopes going in. I got a concha and was pretty disappointed. The flavor was very bland and the bread itself was somewhat hard, which made it seem like it had probably been sitting out for a while. The pricing also felt a bit high for what I got. Unfortunately, I do not think I would come back again.

FINALLY made it here for their Tuesday pizza night after years of not making it due to scheduling…read more It was every bit as good as advertised. We lucked out a bit with the weather as it was supposed to rain, but cleared up in time and we arrived right as they opened at 4:30 and parked close. We were order #6 so we got our pizza really quickly. Of course the emphasis is on fresh, local ingredients and you can really taste the difference between here and a generic pizza place. The pizzas are on the spend side, but how often am I going to be in Stockholm? We knew it was $28 going in and gladly handed it over. Ordered a half Italian Sausage, half Canadian Bacon. Lots of cheese, onions, basil, etc. and some fantastic olives. Took two bites and thought "this is so f'n good". Quality ingredients and a crust with the right amount of char on it and we were happy. While waiting the roughly 7 or 8 minutes for it to cook, we took the opportunity to drag in our chairs and cooler (used as a table for the box) in a shaded area and stayed a little over an hour. They aren't allowed to let people bring in their own alcohol, but do sell some on premises if you are so motivated. They also sell bread that is baked on site from grain they mill themselves. Its in a great slightly isolated location off a dirt road and if not the gnats that decided to appear we would have been there longer. They were also doing a brisk take out business, but they were starting to get busy with people bringing in tables and such so I assume it was really hopping later in the evening. Either way, its a beautiful property and they have their process down so it flows pretty efficiently. Yeah I know we lucked out so we didn't have to suffer a long wait, but I'd hang out a while for this again. I guess I'd recommend getting there as close to opening time as possible. Will definitely be back.

Also known as "The Pizza Farm" to many people. If you haven't been, go. You won't regret the drive…read more It's about an hour and half from the cities and if you take WI 35 down there it's a gorgeous one. Here's what you should do: Take a half a day (or an entire day) and drive down to the cute, little artsy town of Stockholm, WI. Peruse the galleries and shops. Purchase a bottle or two of Wisconsin made wine or beer from one of said shops. Then stop by the Stockholm Pie Company and pick up a slice (or a pie) to bring along to the farm as dessert. Head over to the farm with your booze and pie in hand. The earlier in the evening the better because it starts to get crowded around 4:45pm. They only give you the pizza and the box it's in. You bring the rest...the plates, napkins, blanket, chairs, tables, cards, guitar, etc. Seriously, some people nearly camp out and are professionals at eating there. Everything that is on the pizzas is from the farm (it's a working farm) from the wheat that is ground that day for the crust to the meat made from the cute but oh, so very tasty animals. You might have to wait a while for your pie but relax, enjoy yourself. This isn't a meal to be rushed. It's as much about the experience as it is about the food. And remember it's only open on Tuesdays and is cash only.

This place had mix feelings but on the good and weird side…read more Meaning I don't know if it feels like a restaurant or and antique / boutique shop put together. It's seems to be a lovely joke in the wall cafe made for its grand variety of Tea. They have other foods but I came for the Tea and the tea treats. Tea choice: Bombay Chai-hot Very good more towards the floral note than the spice chai side. Very good. Food: Scones of the day: Blueberry scones- good but feels to soft and cake like a muffin and not the crumbly scone texture I'm used to. The lemon curd side was good and the cream was very basic. Not reall clotted cream hit good enough. Cucumber Tea Sandwiches: Overall the sandwiches were fine but it's not the traditional style with Mayo or white bread. Didn't like the rye bread. Felt like it was too strong of a taste for the cucumber to shine through with its crispy refreshing taste .the rye bread masked with its slight caramel dark burnt taste. Then instead Mayo, they had a cream cheese chives on the spread, I was not a big fan since this not as traditional hence the 3 starts. Overall- a nice homey home comefort feeling of an antique home and cafe put together. Basically it's hue like someone s house turn into a cafe which interestingly makes it feel humble and small town living. Will go back for the tea but food wise- could be better.
