It's wonderful to treat your self sometimes. One of our families big treats is having Smith Brother's milk delivered to our home. The milk taste better than what I see at the stores. It's such a treat knowing once a week fresh milk will be delivered to our house. They deliver other things. We are thinking about having them deliver our turkey. As a Smith Brothers customer there is a milk box at our house. That's convenient to if someone leaves their hat or something at our house I can just leave it for them in the milk box. When I drive around and see other people's mailboxes i'm happy that they are treating themselves too. When I meet people that are new to the area I often give them a half a gallon of our milk. read more

It was a challenge to get signed up as they originally stated they didn't provide service in our area, but I was finally able to convince them since a neighbor a few doors down was already set up for service. The website is very handy and convenient to skip deliveries or modify your order. The milk is always fresh, the cartons are never damaged and the delivery truck must have some kind of super quiet stealth motor because after 2+ years of service I have yet to hear them drop off. Even the dog doesn't notice! If you're considering milk delivery (if you have twins or young kiddos especially) this is a great way to go. read more

Had smith brothers delivery for 6 months. I did it to mainly support local businesses but today I canceled my subscription with them. The milk quality itself is average. Nothing specific about it that makes them stand out. Price point for half gallon of milk runs about $5 so it's on the pricier end. The app for smith brothers is probably the best thing about the experience. My biggest gripe and the reason I CANCELED is because two consecutive weeks in a row and 3-4 times in the past several months, I was charged for my order and it was never delivered. For a milk delivery service, the whole experience is to receive hassle-free regular deliveries and smith brothers failed to live up to expectations. read more

Hubby here - Fun reading this - here's my take. We've had Smith Brothers delivery for years with very few issues. The one problem being that very occasional "operator error" when I forget to take the products out of the milk-box on Monday morning. Truth is, sometimes they've actually sat out there for up to a couple days. Fortunately I've always successfully remedied this situation by loading everything a little further back into my refrigerator, letting it get cold again, wiping my memory banks clean, and most importantly never telling anybody else in the house what happened - and guess what - they've never discovered my sneaky little trick. Now isn't that a glowing testament as to how fresh Smith Brothers Farms products really are. Just in case though, during summer months I will keep in mind someones suggestion here of putting a frozen ice/milk carton in the milkbox the night before to keep things colder longer - hey, perhaps some day I can even make it last BEYOND Thursday. If you've had delivery issues, it's not rocket science, it's a milk delivery. I'd suggest making another phone call. Most likely if you can be patient and simply communicate well, all will work out. If your dogs bark during milk delivery hours I suggest getting one of those voiceless dogs from Africa, or training, or therapy, or switch to a cat. Cats are always much quieter and they mostly love milk(Men). Lastly, as a loving gesture to my wife who loves her Half and Half neat, I secretly try to avoid having others open the milk cartons. For the simple reason that If one is too timid in the opening process it can lead to horrific spout disfigurement issues. Most folks my age have been opening milk cartons from the time of grade-school and have mastered the fine art of quickly flipping open a milk carton spout with one hand, so I do. Where to start... When we first signed up we weren't to receive our first order for 2 weeks. No problem, we can wait. Our first ordered wasn't delivered because they couldn't find the house. No phone call, no email, no nothing. The second order was delivered in a bag left in the middle of the driveway. The next order was never delivered because there was no porch box (because they didn't deliver one). I called and asked them to please make a note that I still NEED a porch box. The next order never occurred because of a snow storm. This obviously wasn't SB's fault, but instead of rescheduling the delivery for another day of the week they just pushed delivery to the next week's scheduled delivery. Annnnd they didn't deliver this week either because there was no porch box. I gave Smith Brothers 6 weeks and 4 or 5 phone calls to fix their mistakes. We signed up for this service for the convenience due to our hectic schedules and every week we didn't buy milk because we were expecting a delivery on Monday mornings. I frankly ran out of patience. I'm done and never plan on signing up again. Just a flat out joke full of excuse after excuse. read more

I have often seen the little Smith Brothers coolers outside people's homes and thought of ordering for us, but never got around to it. Sometime near the end of my pregnancy, however, a very nice Smith Brothers rep named Walt came to my door with a little menu and some information. I asked if they carried organic milk and free range eggs, and the answers were yes and yes. Not only that, but Walt gave us a free half gallon of organic skim to try! He said he'd give me some time to think it over and touch base with me later, and he did - one time. LOVE IT! I hate it when companies harass and harass you. I know what I have to do - don't call me, I'll call you. After discovering you can place and update your order online (I hate using the telephone), I was sold. You only have to have ONE item in your recurring weekly order, and can update/change everything else as needed. Currently we get a half gallon of milk, AMAZING muffins from Alki bakery, and the best bagels I have had on the west coast from Seattle Bagel Bakery every week. And, the best part? Our deliveryman is super super sweet and leaves a little Milkbone for our dog on the cooler every Monday. Absolutely love Smith Brothers Farms. Here's the problem with Smith Brothers: the products are delicious, the price is only slightly higher than what I'd pay at my normal grocery stores, but making changes to your order (standing, one time, etc) is convoluted and their customer service is HORRIBLE. We had no issues so long as we had a weekly standing order of milk, eggs, sour cream, and cottage cheese. However, when we tried to make it less than weekly, the online ordering system kept messing up- it acted as if all was OK, but every week a lone cottage cheese would be delivered for no reason. And, of course, my account would be charged for the cottage cheese and the delivery fee. The first time this happened, I assumed it was my fault and went back to their written instructions, following them to a T. The second time it happened, I called and left a message about it. No one ever called me back. The third time it happened, I was in a lather and wrote an email. No one ever emailed me back. They just keep charging me and delivery a damned cottage cheese, no matter what changes I made (and save/check out) on my account online. It's not like we eat cottage cheese morning, noon, and night. And in fact, the last delivery went unnoticed for 24+ hours because we (of course) weren't expecting a delivery- so the cottage cheese may be rancid. I've emailed to cancel my account as of tonight (9/1) and we'll see if, when, and how they respond. Considering they've ignored my previous attempts to communicate, I don't have much faith. The tragedy is that, if their order system worked as it should, and if they had decent customer service, we'd go on paying slightly higher for their products. But not having control over what I'm being charged, or when, and now drowning in cottage cheese, has killed my desire to supply them with any more money. read more

I've been drinking their milk since I was a tiny kid. When I was younger and went to sleepovers at my friends house, we would get up in the morning and have cereal with their store bought milk in plastic jugs. It always tasted so weird to me. Our delivery driver WAS HORRIBLE! He would change the delivery dates without much warning, one day the milk was left in the box tell our normal pickup date, and then we saw the note and was pissed it was in the box that long and had to toss it, they never list the prices of the milk, which is why we went with Wilcox Milk delivery in the first place, plus they didnt want check to be left in the box (Wilcox had no issue with that) Then when we stopped the delivery the jackwagon took our WILCOX box we had! What a turd! That wasnt his to take! I dont care if they had bought out that service! With drivers like that, Im sure the only reason they stay in business is they do have a great product, they need better drivers though! I'm fairly surprised with all the negative reviews here. I'm a relative newbie to Smith Brothers delivery (started about 6 months ago), but I've yet to have any serious problems. Frankly, I think they're great for the most part. I've never had a missed delivery, all of my orders have always been delivered save once, where I was missing a juice. The milkman left a note apologizing for the inconvenience, but that the safety seal had broken, so that he couldn't sell it to me. I thought that was cool and a nice explanation. Honestly some of these complaints seem a little ludicrous. This isn't Amazon, it's a local milk company offering virtually free milk delivery. Ordering online isn't going to be some magical experience, but I find it to have satisfactory usability. I think the major difference is that I believe that having my milk products, eggs, and OJ delivered in the city is a privilege and not a right. I also have the luxury of being a single working girl by all intensive tax purposes, so I don't depend on them like others might and I have a grocery store 3 blocks away. And actually, having Smith Brothers deliver my essentials is cheaper than going to the store. That's right, it's cheaper for my milk and eggs to be DELIVERED to my doorstep on the Hill than it is to go buy a quart of the Dairy Behemoth Darigold and QFC brand eggs. The only ding is that when I moved apartments, they forgot to update my address. Luckily, I'm neurotic and noticed that my address wasn't updated online, and they took care of it right away. Even with that one ding, I'm still going to be using their service as long as they'll deliver and I live in Seattle. Besides, it's the bf's favorite milk and he'd literally cry if I stopped having our Smith Brothers milk delivered. Can't have that now. read more

We signed up for service at the Seattle Home Show and were told we would have our first delivery in about 2 weeks. Two months passed without a delivery or any communication from the them. I called to find out what was going on. I was told they made the decision they would not deliver because there was no place to turn the truck around. It would have been nice of them to communicate that with me. I explained that you don't have to turn around and you can drive in one drive and out the other, it's a U. No backing required. They said they would look into it and get back to me. A day and a half later I called and told them to forget it. Apparently they don't really want anyone's business and look for excuses not to have you as a customer. I grew up on Smith Brothers Milk. Not only was it delivered weekly to our house, but daily to my elementary school. 33 years now and those milk cartons still inhabit my parents' fridge. I feel really bad for the people who have had bad experiences with this company, because I can't think of one bad experience----ever. Once we had milk that went south a little too soon, the milkman took it back(gave us a new one for free)and later explained what had happened with that batch in particular. Come rain or shine or snow and ice, that milk truck is ever present. Any last minute changes to orders we always make with a note on the box. I feel sorry for people who buy dairy products at grocery stores (and gas stations). They don't know that free home delivery is right within their grasp. I've had Smith Brothers delivering the butter, milk, yogurt, and eggs to my house for a few years now and it is AWESOME. They don't charge a premium for delivery. It pretty much costs the same as it (not on sale) would at a regular store. Each distributor is a little different so I can't say the prices for sure in your neighborhood. They also deliver to restaurants and other commercial business. For example, I've started noticing them at my favorite coffee shops. read more

Some of the one stars here are because well yelp brings a lot of little, persnickety people who have 10 reviews and all they do is whine. we decided to sign up and we live on a private drive. The driver would not deliver to the bottom of our driveway and on two occasions left the delivery on the very busy street which we told them not to. Anyway, the driver kept giving excuses why he wouldn't deliver so we dropped them. Update11/20/13: and I should have done this long ago. Seems they finally noticed and work out their delivery problems. its pretty seamless now. we get a cracked egg or two every once in a while but other than that quality is good. upgrade from 1 star to 3 star. read more

I don't use Smith Brothers Farms so I cant comment on the quality of their product, however my neighbor uses Smith Brothers and has a delivery once per week. The delivery truck comes at about 6:00 AM and is soooooo loud it wakes me up every morning. I have never heard such a loud delivery truck, it is unbelievably loud. If you don't want to piss off your neighbors get your milk from somewhere else. After reading the Smith Brothers response to my review... which is basically a big F-you, I would never consider trying Smith Brothers product. I can see why some of the other reviews complain about the poor customer service. read more

We are exceedingly happy with Smith Brothers. We signed up 2 years ago at a Christmas Expo and were so pleasantly surprised. Yes they are more expensive than store bought on some items, but its worth it to my family and I knowing we are not only supporting local, but not consuming GMO's. They are always friendly on the phone and prompt with delivery. Their eggnog is the best! We love their milk so much we wont drink anything else. read more

They, not only have EVERYTHING I need, but their delivery service let's me choose what time I want my groceries delivered, right down to the hour!!! I love the milk and the idea of milk delivered to your doorstep is really convenient but the milk containers should have caps for easy use. Most of the time the paper is stuck and then it won't open properly which leads to inconvenience. And all products are more expensive than buying from grocery stores. Also one more suggestion would be to start an app. Also it would be great if they inform us approx what time is the milkman coming to your place. read more

We started with Smith Brothers when my son turned one and started drinking whole milk. We were constantly heading to the store to get him organic milk (Yes, I know that there's not proof that the hormones are bad, but we want to give him the best chances in life, scientifically proven or not.). Organic milk, when not on sale, ain't cheap. Then we stumbled upon the Smith Brother's booth at our local farmer's market and decided to give them a shot. Why not? The prices are reasonable and we don't have to all get in the car and drive to the store to get a gallon of milk (and anyone with little kids know that it takes longer to get ready to run an errand than to actually run the errand). We've been happy with them so far. The delivery always shows up before we leave the house in the mornings, so it goes straight into our refrigerator in the mornings. We've had no problems with any of the milk or eggs that we order going bad before we've had the time to consume them and I will tell you this - I love their chocolate milk :) We don't get most of the other products since we can get them either at the store for cheaper with coupons and don't need them weekly. We do however, like the idea that they support local businesses and do product delivery including those products. I would consider getting things like bread delivered to our house if we didn't have the time to make our own. Changing the delivery online has been easy. There was one instance where our delivery date changed and our request to cancel hadn't properly transferred. We were on vacation and rather shocked when we got home to find that we had gotten a delivery and were charged. My husband emailed Smith Brothers and was credited that same day, so I'm guessing that the customer service issues have either been solved or we got lucky. Either way, no complaints from us. Our son loves his milk and we love not spending 30 minutes twice a week to run what used to be a 5 minute errand. All for a reasonably comparable price. read more

Signed up last summer. Their prices are about the same as QFC but they deliver! Love having cage free eggs. I did make a larger order once and the milkman left some muffins on top of the smith brothers container and I think the crows got into them. I sent them an email and they credited my account without question. I do my best to order what fits in the box now. they will give you two containers if you need it. In the last 6 months, my orders have been perfect with one exception where they swapped a pound cake for a cheese cake on accident. Again, a quick email and they credited my account for the pound cake, no questions asked. Top notch service. I really love their service. There is no delivery fee over $10. We get bread, milk and eggs almost every week except when we have to much. A quick log on to the site and I can augment the order. Love it. They have some great bakery treats too. love the muffins. I just wish they delivered more products, like chicken & steak! read more

We've had weekly delivery for the past five years, and we've been very pleased so far. You can't beat the convenience of having fresh, local dairy products delivered right to your door, with prices very comparable to that of the grocery store. I love that they have fresh organic milk that is NOT ultra-pasteurized. The organic milk sold at local grocery stores is often ultra-pasteurized, which explains why their expiration date is weeks away! Our milkman has been serving our route since we started the service. While I've never met him in person, since he does the deliveries so quietly in the wee morning hours, our orders are always correct, and carefully placed in our White Box. I think we've only had minor problems three times over the past 5 years of weekly deliveries. I do like the convenience of online order updates and vacation holds, as well as automatic credit card payments, but I sorta miss being able to email the milkman directly (always answered by his wife) for questions, order changes, and the feeling of being more directly connected. The old days of leaving a check in the box just felt closer to the whole circle of local commerce, and now it has a bit of an Amazon feel - for better or worse. read more

Pros- -Like clock work! -Easy website to use -Easy to change order -most of it is yummy (except the banana bread- my family loves banana bread and it went in the trash, no one ate it) -free delivery if over $10 order Cons- -Multiple times milk went bad before exp date -You cant control the day or time it's delivered so if you work long days and they deliver right after you leave work-- your sol on time it's in a box outside -prices are high -they don't care if you cancel over milk going bad a few times- not so much as a "I'm sorry that happened with our product" Overall I might try it again one day, just not interested in trying to guess which small carton of milk I'm sending in my child's lunch may be going bad even though according to the date it should still be good read more

Have grown up on this milk. I buy the organic kind now. As a kid they had this milk in our schools. I have traveled all over and the only other milk that compares to smith brothers is fresh milk in Europe. The 2% is my favorite and is so creamy tasting. There truly is a difference in the milk! In college, one of my roommates grew up on a dairy farm and she said she could taste of the cow had eaten oranges etc! I love the app and being able to skip weeks if I am out of town. Always amazing customer service, in every way. If a product is out of stock I get a handwritten note from my milkman. If I have a suggestion I get a quick response. I've had product issues only once or twice, and always reach a friendly representative, and have gotten a credit. I've had service for probably about four years, first in an apartment and then a house, and it's always on time, carefully placed in my box. The one thing that makes me sad is they haven't offered strawberry milk in a year at least...I love the changing seasonal items, and wish that would make a comeback. read more

I found out about this delivery service when Smith Brothers came to Fort Lewis (JBLM). I wasn't too thrilled at having to keep a standing weekly order but I gave them a try. My budget really hasn't been affected since the switch.The prices are about the same as you would see in a regular grocery store for free range eggs and a bit more pricey for other items like juice and bagels. However, once you factor in gas, your time going shopping, checking out, and driving home-I think it's about the same amount of money. I really loved their products and the convenience of ordering online. My family enjoys the freshness of their milk and I enjoy knowing exactly were my milk came from. I also like the fact that the majority of their other items are from local businesses. I've only had one mistake by my delivery man but customer service was easy to get a hold of, they didn't solve my problem immediately and I was a bit upset it took 2 phone calls and 2 weeks to correct the problem but I still have faith in them. read more

I feel like getting milk delivered from these people, is like dealing with a cable company. Any kind of sympathy for their disappointing service, would have made me keep my subscription.
