I'm extremely disappointed with my recent experience at Smith Chevy. On April 7th at 10 AM, I brought in my 2024 Chevy Blazer, which is only 2 years old with just 18,000 miles, for an issue with the bumper that should fall under a bumper-to-bumper warranty. I was told they didn't believe it was covered under warranty and that they couldn't fix it. No alternatives or solutions were offered to me at that time. Wanting a second opinion, I took my vehicle to another Chevy dealership in Rexburg. Within 10 minutes, they confirmed the issue is absolutely covered under warranty and are now taking care of the repair. After that, I called back to Smith Chevy and was then told they don't handle those repairs in-house and send them to Young Auto Body. This was never mentioned during my original visit. If it had been, it would have saved me time and frustration. To make matters worse, the manager I spoke with was dismissive and came across as rude when I tried to clarify the situation. I expect better communication, transparency, and customer service--especially when it comes to something as straightforward as a warranty issue. Cannot say enough good things about Smith Chevrolet in Idaho Falls. We were traveling through Jackson Hole when the OnStar system flagged an engine and transmission alert on our 2026 Silverado -- a truck that's only two months old. The Chevy dealership in Jackson Hole told us it would be 2.5 weeks just to get it in the door, which wasn't going to work for us. So we made the hour-and-a-half drive to Smith Chevrolet, and I'm so glad we did. Craig, the general manager, and Jason, the repair specialist, were fantastic to work with from start to finish. They took the alerts seriously and looked at the truck right away, and went above and beyond trying to track down exactly why the engine and transmission warnings were going off. The difference in service and urgency compared to what we'd been quoted elsewhere was night and day. If you're anywhere in the area -- or even a good drive away like we were -- these are the people you want handling your vehicle. Highly recommend. read more

A couple of weeks ago I purchased a used Ford F150. Before signing the sales contract I wanted to make sure I would be able to tow my camper trailer of 8600lbs. I was told that there was absolutely no problem to tow the trailer. The towing capacity was 12000lbs according to the people at the dealership. A friend of mine told me a couple of weeks later that towing my trailer with that car was a no-go. I started looking things up and found out (on the Ford website) that the maximum towing capacity of the F150 was only 7500lbs. I tried to hook up the camper to the car. The hind went so deep because of the weight that it was no more than 5 inches from the car. Driving the truck with the trailer hooked up would be no less than suicide. I can understand they are eager to sell a vehicle, but selling this F150 to me, knowing I needed it to tow that trailer is more like a murder attempt. One of the worst experiences at a dealership I've ever had. Bought a used 2021 f150 from a sales man named "Mauro" little did I know the night mare I was going to endure with my new to me $40,000 truck. (Haven't even made my second payment) The sales man was very responsive and helpful during the buying process but made me feel rushed in it. However after the sale of the truck I couldn't get in contact about my headlights not working due to water being inside the housing. The salesman said it passed the pre inspections but how could it pass if there's water in the housings? Now that my headlights and fog lights have water in them the passenger side has completely stopped working and I have no lights on passenger side. Chevy said that it's not their problem and they aren't willing to help or look at it at all. In conclusion, the smith Chevy group does not believe in service after the sale. We purchased a brand new 2021 Chevy Blazer. There's a massive break line leak, I contacted our sales member Matt. He told me There was nothing he could do. So I talked to another manager, he told me there was absolutely nothing to help with. That the defect was not their problem (two weeks after purchase!!) My new Chevy blazer is sitting in a Subaru parking lot unable to drive. Smith Chevrolet wouldn't even pay for a rental car for two days until GM opens for repair. As a working mom of 3 kids they should offer some assistance, they have zero respect to amend the situation. This is the absolute worst experience! Originally, immediately after we came up to purchase the car, was told it was on shipment, wasn't there a week around estimated time delivery. The car is beautiful, Matt could have been more commutative. He would only talk to my husband (I AM THE OWNER OF THE VEHICLE) and he didn't communicate with me about my vehicle. We also paid for the tint, that wasn't able to be finished a week after purchase. We purchased one week prior to delivery. Prioritization was not ideal on getting the tint or the detailing. Not to mention Brand new blazer already had a scratch on the tail light. They have not tried to assist with fixing that either. Car was covered in adhesive inside and out on the lights and the dashboard as well as mirrors. Detail should have been much better. Not happy about the cleanliness of our new vehicle or the scratch on the back, I wish the process for getting military discount was easier, prioritizing our detail and tint should have been so much easier with the extra time we gave the dealership given we drove there and back from meridian Idaho twice. It cost us twice as much to come pick up our vehicle than it should have because of lack of communication. The lack of respect they have for their customers is disgusting. They got their check and do not have any intention of continuing good service. My car's breaks are now completely defective. I will never EVER purchase through this company again. read more

THINK TWICE BEFORE DECIDING TO BUY A CAR FROM THE SMITH GROUP (SMITH'S CHEVROLET OR SMITH'S HONDA)! I helped my daughter and son-in-law purchase their first car from a dealership on March 1, 2024. I'm APPALLED with all the lies this dealership uses just to get a sale!! The first lie we were told was that the SUV was fully inspected. I asked Martha how the inspection passed if the inside wasn't cleaned out or vacuumed. It was dirty and garbage throughout the inside of the car. She assured us that it had been inspected and passed. I'm sure that any names and notes can be inserted into any document in a computer and printed to have documented paperwork of the inspection without the car honestly being physically inspected. Secondly, we were told that they needed a co-signer but when we started the paperwork to purchase the SUV I asked why my name was first as the main buyer when I was just the co-signer. We were told that it had to be this way because I had a higher credit score and that I was still the co-signer, and my son-in-law was the main buyer. After the sale and when the problems started, we called the bank to see what our options were and they told us that I'm the main applicant on the loan. Third, we purchased the warranty and was told everything would be covered if we ended up needing any repairs. WE WERE NEVER TOLD THAT THERE WOULD BE A CAP ON THE TOTAL COST OF REPAIRS! After the purchase my son-in-law drove it home to Blackfoot and heard a knock. He called the dealership the next day to let them know. It was almost 2 weeks before they could get the SUV into their shop to see what the issue was. A few days later they told us that their SUV needed a new engine. Then several weeks later after they got a new engine installed, an employee takes it for a test drive and hears another weird sound. They called us and told us that it now needs a new Torque Converter. Then we find out that our warranty was all used up and the Torque Converter would not be covered completely. Fourth, after returning the rental they are now trying to charge us for the detailing of the car and for them having to buff out several deep scratches. Plus, they are charging us for the cost of the Torque Converter and the labor. I watched with my own eyes my daughter and son-in-law come to my house and vacuum and clean out the rental before they returned it! I didn't notice any scratches! We got the rental minutes after a previous customer returned it. I was there and I didn't see the dealership inspect it upon that customer returning it. Who's to say the scratches were caused by this previous customer! Our SUV is still in their shop today from being in there since mid-March. I have called numerous times and left messages within the past few weeks on Jared Nichols (Sales manager) voice mail, and he has not returned my phone calls at all. I wanted to discuss the amount they are saying we owe to get the car out of their shop! I talked to Taylor in the repair shop, and he was the only one that tried to help! He got the price down $100.00 from being the total of $823.58. Now they say we owe $723.58 for the remainder of the Torque Converter and the detaining of the rental/buffing the scratches out! I think the amount they say we owe is RIDICULOUS!!! My daughter and son-in-law are in the beginning stages of their married life with a 1-year-old daughter and trying to support their little family and they get hit with all this crap! I just can't believe what this world is becoming! This dealership took advantage of us and lied to us repeatedly! BEWARE OF WHO YOU TRUST AND WHAT DEALERSHIP YOU GIVE YOUR BUSINESS TO!! read more

I purchased a new Chevy from a dealer in SLC and it's needed service a couple of times. Because Smith Chevy is closer, I've taken it there both times and they've been OUTSTANDING. Jason Seay in parts was very helpful and went the distance to make sure things got done. He arranged for a dealership rental car at no charge so I could stay at home in Wyoming while my truck was repaired, during this pandemic. My recalls were done in a timely manner, and the price of my oil change was more than reasonable. The business is easy to deal with and I purchase my next vehicle from there. read more

My check engine light came on during a very long road trip. I stopped in to Smith Chevrolet for assistance. They told me they were unable to assist me until September 3. The man sat behind the desk after providing that date to me and simply stared at me with a blank stare. It was a very uncomfortable interaction. I understand that there seems to be a labor shortage currently with the pandemic. I would've appreciated some compassion and understanding. I called Richards Diesel and he suggested that I call Wackerli GMC. Wackerli GMC was terrific. They diagnosed the issue which they didn't have time to repair that afternoon, but they explained how to get my car home, and what to do if I saw certain things become worse. I really appreciated the price of mind that I know what to do and that I could wait to get home for the 19 hour repair that is needed. read more

We bought a truck there on Monday and was told to return on Friday to install running boards. We brought the truck in on Thursday and Smith Chevy did the install on Friday and the truck was ready to pick up on Saturday. We returned Saturday and we were ready to drive off with the new truck and new running boards. We did a final inspection on the running boards and found the running boards were loose. The service department inspected the work and found that several bolts were sheered off. The service department stated they would order new bolts and reinstall the running boards. It's been almost a week since we've had this "new" truck and the service department is having issues removing the broken bolts. During this time no loaner vehicle was offered and we've had to return several times driving from Pocatello to Idaho Falls. There is also poor communication from Smith Chevy for any updates on the running board install as well. read more

He told us he would give us a great deal for a trade in and worked with us up until it was time to make the deal. I got off of work early to trade my truck and another vehicle in when he called me to tell me a car i was interested in was there. I had a family member follow me and change all of their plans to come with me to bring the other vehicle and when we arrived he was very short and rude. He told us he was not going to give us what he already told us he would and low balled us and gave off the vibe we were wasting his time. Worst service I've ever experienced and will not ever go back. Very disappointed in the company and the service there and it was a very big waste of the day. Told me nothing was wrong with it and I cannot even tow my trailer with it because it acts like it's going to blow up. Smith Chevrolet was the least motivated and unprofessional place to make a sale I have ever encountered. I contacted them about a vehicle that I wanted to see more photos for as there was only one on the listing. The guy I spoke with never sent me photos and only wanted to try and push a sale. I had to contact another salesman to get photos and was told that the rust present was "normal and expected" on a 4 year old vehicle. It appears to me they are a bunch of dishonest people that try and sell junk and refuse to send photos and push the sale anyway to try and hide problems and deceive people. Looks at the other negative reviews. John Lake, the business manager, contacted me after a few days of radio silence and was threatening me when I expressed dissatisfaction with his employees. All the way up to management this place is a joke. I will not ever be buying from Smith Chevrolet and I will do all that I can to steer anyone I know away from them as well. read more

They were great! Just very swamped, on Saturdays they only have one mechanic on hand and a few techs so if you schedule an appointment like we did make it early. We had a lot of work to be done and they were still pretty quick we got in early for our appointment it took almost 6 hours for everything but other than the length of time which we planned for everything was quick. If I could give no stars I would. Dont buy a used car here! I'm on my 2nd vehicle in 3 1/2 weeks from here. The first vehicle started having problems over heating and the window not working within 24 hrs. The stabilitrak light came on the fourth day. Within 10 days the brakes went out. Within the 14 days the transmission and engine began overheating. Also The speedometer was off. They broke the back windshield wiper when they were cleaning it up for me to take home. Assured me they had a part ordered to have it fixed. But never heard another word about it. Now they were "kind" enough to trade me into another vehicle. This vehicle starting making loud noises in the engine that shook the whole front end within an hour of driving off the lot. I took it back the sales guy looked under the hood and assured me everything was fine. So I left again only to have it happen a second time less than an hour later. The a/c decided it would only work when it felt like it and the check engine light came on within 24 hrs of ownership. When they washed this car before handing it over, They cracked the windshield. This speedometer on this vehicle is off as well. They wont give me my money back and have no other options in my price range. Now I have to wait another 3 days before a mechanic will look at it in their shop. Needless to say I feel like they took advantage and lied to me in Typical saleman style. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS DEALERSHIP!!! If you value your time and hard earned money, go somewhere else. Update: car wouldnt start 4 days after buying it. Wouldnt take a jump. Had to be towed into the dealership. The manager lied saying he had never heard of my situation. While my wife and I were at Yellowstone our RV developed a leak in the quick connect and hose for the engine oil cooler. We called Smith because our rv engine is a Chevrolet 350 diesel. They are located on the road that we would be using to leave Yellowstone and return to our home. I described the problem and using our vin number they ordered the parts and said they would have them during the time-frame that we would be driving home. When we got there they had the parts and got a mechanic working on the problem. Unfortunately, the oil cooler system for a 1999 RV was not the same as for the standard 350 diesel, so they were not able to fix the problem They were very helpful about how we could drive the rest of the way to our home over 600 miles away. When I asked what I owed them for the parts they had ordered and the time the mechanic had spent trying to make it work, they said that since they were not able to perform the repairs there was no charge even for the parts they had ordered. This is above and beyond what most auto repair shops would have done. I highly respect their honesty and their commitment to customer satisfaction, even when it costs them money. read more

Made a service appointment because *every* time I back up and turn the wheel the front end makes a popping noise. Drop vehicle off at 8. Hear nothing all day so I call at 415 and they say they hear no noise... really, I hear it every time. So I drive over there, about 20 minutes with traffic and am pulling in and guess who calls- they all the sudden hear a noise but think it's the running board. Umm no. So I was out of a vehicle all day for them to hear nothing then miraculously hear a made up noise. Thanks for wasting my time. read more

Can I give ZERO stars? I scheduled an appointment for 9am. Was told it would take one hour. Was there at 9am. Dropped the car off and told them I was going to wait for it. Was again told it would take about 1 hour. I waited patiently until about 10:30am. I kindly asked them what the status on it was. He said that the guy was just about done with it. He asked if I wanted it washed and I said NO. He came back a little bit later and said he couldn't catch them before they stuck it in the wash. They were going to dry it off and pull it up front. 30 minutes later he hands me my keys. I walk outside and there is no way on earth that thing had been under a drop of water. It was just as dirty as when I brought it in. So his line about it being in the wash was bull. I was told when I made my appointment and when I brought the car in that it would take 1 hour. I was there for a grand total of 2 hours...waiting...and waiting...and waiting. In the time I was sitting there 8 people brought their cars in AFTER me and left BEFORE me. How does that make sense if I was there at 9am with an appointment. My car should have been the first one worked on at 9am. Would rather drive down to the COLE CHEVROLET IN POCATELLO then ever go to Smith Chevrolet here. read more
