My boyfriend and I went to Smith Honda over the weekend to shop for a new car. We were greeted by Austin who greeted us without dropping a beat and immediately let us look around and test drive cars. He expressed that it's a "no pressure" type of environment and we definitely felt that. We left to browse other dealerships who gave us really good deals but found the next day that Honda could match what we were looking to work with. That was where Martha came into play. She was incredibly helpful, patient, and just straight-up nice and pleasant to talk with. She kept this temperament even after we stayed past closing time, and although we didn't pull the trigger right then and there, assured us we could reach out to her or Austin anytime. We pulled the trigger on my boyfriend's new car Monday morning. Martha was super flexible with scheduling an appointment and sticking true to the deal she had given us a few days prior. Rod was the employee that helped us with the car's paperwork, making sure we knew all our options as far as warranty, gap, etc. Even this stayed true to Austin's comment of "no pressure" and we walked outta there with what worked best for my boyfriend. smith Honda warrenty and service department is a f-ing joke. I so wish I would have read the reviews prior to even buying a Honda let alone the Warrenty and service department reviews. My option is if you want something inspected or repaired take it to any other shop you will save time money and most of all frustration and headache. I will never buy another Honda or have anything serviced by smith Honda again in my life nor will my family and friends and we have been Chevy and Honda drivers for over 60 years. I have taken my vehicle there three times with no help and then take it to another service company where they addressed not only what my concerns were but other things as well. all of this was done without having to pay for a diagnostic inspection ( that's somewhat of a joke for this service department ) which i am assuming that's only to inspect what the consumer thinks is wrong lol like 90% of consumers know what the problem is prior to taking it to be diagnosed I always thought you took a vehicle to a service and repair shop to fix the THINGS YOU HAD NO IDEA WERE THE PROBLEM or EVEN WRONG and it was only helpful if you could tell them what you the consumer may think is the problem this last time I took it in for a full bumper too bumper inspection to include motor trans electrical. in my mind that would involve compression check timing any wear signes like metal shavings in the transmission fluid ect ect and to run the alternator through a performance check check the alignment bearing axel wear radiator external and internal but oh no those I guess are all separate inspections and a separate diagnostics charge is charged for each and every inspection that I just listed This was ask for prior and they still didn't do any of these the did a basic inspection like as if I was getting my oil changed anywhere else even when it was ask for Up front because they say they are a full service shop. from now on I will take all mechanical problems to mentor motors where I not only receive excellent customer service I get what I ask for and 110% more everytime. can service almost every make and model and are willing to go the extra mile read more

We have had Honda Pilots for years and needed another car. We had debated whether to get another Pilot or to get a CRV. We live in Bozeman but were traveling through Idaho Falls and on a whim decided to check out the Smith Honda dealership to see if they had any CRVs to test drive. To make a long story short, we left that day with a very low mileage Pilot Elite. Our last buying experience (at another dealership) had been so dreadful that I actually had hated the idea of buying another car. In the past few months we had been to dealerships in both Montana and Utah but were disappointed in the selections and, in the case of the Orem, Utah one, we were so disgusted with the sales person that we just walked off the lot. In Idaho Falls we were fortunate to have been helped by Brandon and we very much enjoyed the whole experience. He listened closely to what we wanted and made several thoughtful suggestions. We test drove three cars (CRV, Passport and Pilot) and he was patient and knowledgeable - not to mention, a lot of fun! Then came the next hurdle - the dreaded price negotiation and financial arrangements. This is when we found that the entire staff at Smith Honda has been well trained and that the dealership has a culture of friendliness and service. Mike was wonderful and clear! He even advised us about some credit building things we could do that were very helpful. The car had just come in so had not been serviced and detailed yet. Knowing that it was last minute, and they were busy, we offered to buy the car then pick up the car in a few weeks when we would be traveling back through IF. It was the manager who declared that we shouldn't need to wait, then arranged with the service department to have the work done immediately so we could pick it up that afternoon. Their service department was busy so I know that this was a challenge for them. That evening after we got back to Bozeman my husband had a question about the car and texted Branden after hours. Branden got back to him immediately with a solution. To summarize, the Smith Honda Dealership in Idaho Falls is a wonderful place to do business with. They are well trained, thoughtful of their customers and very pleasant to work with. Since we love Hondas we will be traveling to IF from Bozeman any time we need to buy a car. Terrible service, bordering on fraudulent jacking up the service cost and forcing a tow charge by omitting simple facts about their electronic keys/transponders. My teen has an older Honda Pilot. The key/remote casing was cracked, and we got her a new casing via amazon. She dismantled the fob and put stuff into the new casing, and then the car wouldn't start. I'm aware of electronic anti theft measures in modern keys, so I stopped into Smith's service desk. I described how the key worked until we swapped the casing (three different ways) and the service desk clerk said they'd need to both tow the car and then diagnose/replace things. I literally asked 'there's nothing else that'll get it started to get here?' and was told no. I left, and spoke with a local locksmith. He described a tiny self-contained transponder in the fob (in addition to the electronics). "So... shouldn't I be able to hold the old fob up near the key and start the car to get it to you?" "Yeah, or, if you're careful, you can transplant it to the new case." Pulling out the transponder and putting it into the new casing took me two minutes, and the car started immediately. Fob works now. Smith Honda, not so much. read more

I cannot say enough about these guys We were recently on a road trip from San Diego and just outside of Idaho falls the metal pan on the underside of the engine came loose and started dragging on the ground. Freaked my wife out and we pulled off into the rest stop where I was able to tie it up off the ground. regardless My wife was worried to drive any further (Worry is what she does) but we saw Smith Honda was a short drive away. Cody and Gary were great. not only did they get us right in and fixed the problem but alleviated my wifes concern about the car being worthy to continue. Great Job guys! read more

I bought my 2016 Honda Fit from Smith Honda. The buying experience was alright, unfortunately nothing special to report, and my sales rep was fired shortly after my purchase....that in itself does not instill confidence. I got my first free oil change w/o a hitch other than the tech forgot to put one of my tire caps back on after checking the air pressure, and I had to go buy a new one (not a big deal, but an inconvenience) I moved 7 hours north shortly after that. The dealership here has terrible reviews, and only 1.5 stars. I was happy to be going to be back to Idaho Falls to visit when my next oil change was due. I took it in, and they had it completed and hand washed in less than an hour; I was happy! I was told all was well, other than my cabin filter needed changed. They said they had taken it out to shake clean and put it back. The following day I noticed a strange motor revving noise when I turned up my air conditioner. It was 4pm, the website said service was open until 6pm on Sat, so I took it over before I had to head out of town to drive 7 hours back home. I was told the service dept was closed, but Javier was still there and said he'd look at it. While waiting for him on the sales floor, I noticed there were 12 Honda workers out and about, but only one even acknowledged me. Customer service? I showed Javier what I was hearing, he looked behind the glove compartment and found a HUGE rats nest. How the service techs overlooked this is beyond me. He removed the nest and used a blower to get as much of the debris as he could out, but my blower motor is now unbalanced and needs to be taken out and readjusted. Had they found it during the oil change, it could have been done on the spot. Now I need to schedule an appointment at the dealership up here (which I was trying to avoid in the first place) and have it taken care of. I am so frustrated. I do remember what it was like to get good thorough customer service, it is just so hard to find it in the auto world these day. Thanks Javier, you get a thumbs up!!! But, Smith Honda in general, you get a BIG thumbs down. And to top it off, the tire tech forgot to replace one of the tire caps again this time....sigh. read more

We've been taking our Honda Element to Smith Honda for 6 yrs. we've always been treated fairly and never had any issue with the services and repairs they've made. We live 2 hrs away and gladly get our vehicle to them for any maintenance needs we may have. We do most of our shopping in Idaho Falls and yesterday, on my home from a trip with my friend and her teenage daughter, my check engine light came on. Next thing I knew we were stranded 1/2 an hour outside of Idaho Falls on the side of the road. I called the dealership 5 minutes to 7pm (right as Frank was walking out the door for the evening). We were able to get a tow to the dealership fairly quickly but we're still a solid 30minutes away. Not only did Frank hang around and wait for us for an hour and a half, but he also had a courtesy car waiting for us so we were able to get back home. To be clear, Frank is one of the managers for the dealership sales department and has nothing to do with the service department but he made it happen and we are so so grateful! Never felt so good about giving a dealship my business. These guys go above and beyond! read more

Went in to get a simple oil change early on a Saturday. Since no one was at the shop yet, I thought it would be fast. Instead it took a couple of hours and they broke one of the air pressure sensors. They fixed it for no charge, but I had to wait longer because the repair technicians were busy. When they had finally finished, it was about 3 hours after I had taken in my vehicles. I don't know what other options I have since they are the only Honda dealer in the area. However, I will be looking at other options in the future. read more

Initially I called about a car I was looking for and was directed to a specific sales person. When I went to the dealership and was shown the car I was in love (it's a Honda) but mystified by why it appeared someone had used it recently (soda splash on dash and console). He assured me "it was JUST traded in". When I looked up the vehicle it was traded in at 20K LESS miles than it had on it currently. I called the dealer and spoke to a different sales person who informed me it was a "sales person's ride" as long as that sales guy met a quota. So, I was blatantly lied to by the first salesperson but I still wanted the car. I spoke to a manager and he clarified that of course I would have an Honest sales person. When we got to the dealership to potentially buy the car I was greeted by a MUCH better sales person but he informed me that the sale would be split between him and the lying salesman. Really Smith Honda? Way to show sales people how Ethics are done. Then I was met by a manager was creepy, rude and misogynistic. Although he was a further representation of how shady of a dealership this was, we still purchased (way above market). The final clicker is, the car was NOT detailed so I took it back to have it professionally cleaned. After two hours the same rude and condescending manager (Frank) came out and barked that "we need to keep the car." When I asked why I was given the excuse that he wanted it to be perfect. I get the car back a day later and there is STILL soda on console and marks all over the interior. I've never been treated so badly in what should be a professional exchange. read more

I worked with Jeff Hall who was my salesman and he did a fantastic job! He was nice and helpful and wanted to get me into a car that fit me best. The car that I ended up buying had quite the problems. When I bought the car, they said that it just needed to be charged and that was why the battery died. After I bought the car, I got to Rexburg, where I live, and the car died again. I heckled them enough to get them out to Rexburg to tow the car back to their shop or to fix it on the spot in Rexburg. They put a new battery in, but a few weeks later, I was all the way down in Pocatello when the alternator went out. It cost me $700 to fix. I told them that the alternator was bad when I bought the car, but they insisted that it was just the battery. Then I get stuck with that bill. They were kind and friendly in the beginning, but I feel like I got sold a lemon. Buyer beware! read more

This dealership was willing to put profit ahead of its customer's safety/life. I was interested in buying a used Toyota 4Runner that Smith Honda had for sale. It was to be for my 19-year-old son. Before making a final decision regarding the 4Runner, I took the vehicle to a Toyota dealership to have it evaluated. After having it up on the lift for a short time, the mechanic showed me the undercarriage and frame. It was a rusty, rotten, dangerous mess. The frame could've broken at any moment in a number of places. The mechanic called it a "death trap" and the "worst I have ever seen." You may be inclined to think the Toyota mechanic was just being biased against Smith Honda, but I saw this disaster of a frame with my own eyes. Furthermore, the brakes were shot. The vehicle was also leaking engine oil from multiple locations. If this vehicle went through the Smith Honda evaluation process, as the salesman said it had, then they were knowingly going to take my money and then put my son in a vehicle that very easily could have killed him. And if it didn't go through the Smith Honda evaluation, they were negligent and lying. As for Smith Honda's response when I told them about danger associated with this 4Runner? The salesman simply replied, "Okay." There was no apology, no indication that they would pull the 4Runner off the lot. Just "Okay." I will NEVER do business with this dealership again. read more

I recently moved from California and one of my biggest worries has been finding a car service and repair place that I trusted and would have great service and did quality work. I have found that place. My experience with Smith's Honda during the past 6 months on 3 separate service and repair occasions has been as good or better than what I've received having lived in 6 different states during my 40+ years of owning a car. Their customer service reps have been great to work with - efficient; great at explaining what needs to be done, options, and costs; professional; terrific follow-up (email and telephone) and yet personable and fun to be around with when appropriate. The quality of service and repair work they've completed for me on my Lexus SUV has been excellent, including saving me from fixing things that weren't broken. And, I've gotten work done at - from what I have experienced - a very competitive price and certainly much lower than I experienced when I lived in other states. If and when I purchase another vehicle it will be from Smiths! read more
