This place is the epitome of a joke. I had an appointment for a cleaning and to check if I have cavities. The hygienist was a sweetheart but she decided to drill noticeably large straight line down my bottom front teeth. On top of that, the dentist did not introduce herself nor did she say a word to me personally. After looking at my scans she tells the lady next to her that I have cavities and proceeds to leave the office. I was told I had 6 cavities and I looked at the scans and immediately knew something was wrong because each cavity was parallel from each other. I went to another dentist and sent them the X-rays that Smith Dental had taken. After the new dentist looked at my teeth I was told I had no cavities, but only 2 cracked teeth. Smith dental consistently messages me after I told them I no longer want services from them and today I had gotten an invoice for money I "owe", but I paid in the full the day of my appointment. When I called about the invoice the lady told me to call back in the morning because nothing was attached to my account and the people who send the invoices only work in the morning. If I could give a 0 I would. Dr. Smith is the most crooked money hungry dentist you'll ever meet. He's gonna try and tell you that you need a lot more work than you actually do especially if you don't have insurance. And since I used him as a kid I've had nothing but problems with my teeth. All my fillings have broken and came out. Absolutely do not go here. When I tried to get my dental records they said they didn't have any. So he's gonna fuck your teeth up and not keep record of it. This past Saturday I had to have an emergency extraction of a back tooth at SmithDental. I was pleasantly surprised to find a Dentist that was open until 8 PM. The quickness of getting a appointment scheduled was very professional, I was very impressed with the ability to be able to receive a text message an replied back about my appointment, and the follow up text that came. My appointment was at 11. I was called to the back by11:05 and for me this is where it kind of went downhill. And I only say this because I feel that they may be over booking, because I sat in the back almost 2 hours before I ever even had any service done to me. And then once I was moved to another room that was freezing cold when the doctor did come in to see me she still couldn't provide any services because I hadn't had x-rays done. Once the x-rays were done, I was put back into the room and it was another 30-40 minutes before the doctor finally came in, stating I needed another x-ray.. Once I got the second x-ray, the amazing, Dental assistant, I think is the correct wording, or dental hygienist, Lillian was so apologetic and informing about the delay. There was only one amazing Doctor that was there (later I came to find out was the sister of a classmate). The service by the Doctor and her assistant was a 10 on a scale of 1-10; the wait time was 1 due to if took almost 4 hours to get one tooth removed. read more

This is quite possibly the worst dental practice I have been to in 21 years of living in Georgia. I have a son with a mental disability and they left him sitting in a chair for almost an hour with his mouth numbed for fillings. After 40 minutes I asked the assistant what was going on and she told me that the office hadn't approved the work yet. This surprised me because this was his second visit to their office. When I approached the office workers they said that wasn't true and he was ready to go. So the assistant lied to me. The office people said they would tell the doctors. After another 10-15 minutes nobody had shown up and I went back to the office workers. They were startled and said they would check. On the way back I saw the dentist in another room and she was working on another patient. That dentist had told us she would be back after 10 minutes when they first numbed my son. When I got to my son he was so anxious I had no choice but to take him home. I decided to take him to another dentist because he was too upset to go back to Smith. I made an appointment, and they told me how to get his records from Smith. I called Smith and gave them the information needed to transfer his records. Three days later when we arrived at the new dentists they said they had not received anything from Smith. When the called Smith they were told that no request had been made which was a clear lie. The new dentist decided to x-ray my son anyway. Afterwards the dentist came in, reviewed the x-rays and examined my son's mouth and said he could find NO indication that he had ANY cavities, much less 4 of them, that needed filling. So on top of cruelly dealing with my disabled son, Smith was even trying to make him undergo a completely UNNECESSARY invasive procedure which they would then bill our insurance company for. I plan on reporting this to the insurance company and to the Georgia Dental Board. DO NOT USE THIS PRACTICE. read more

Receptionist ladies were very pleasant. Felt pressured, scolded, and bullied. I think the lady's name was DeeAnne, she was very rude. I would not recommend.

I was very pleased with the service & treatment by the staff especially Rebekah & Dr Harris in specific because I despise going to the dentist further more my anxiety was off the charts that day and Rebekah helped me more than anyone else had and calmed me down. I got Dr Harris and Rebekah from start to finish every time I go to which I also appreciated immensely because of my anxiety and that helped with the process and her kindness put me at ease. I had an appointment but I wasn't scheduled to have all the work done that was done yet they did it all in one visit, which I truly appreciated. I wasn't going to have more work done not because of them but because I'd just gotten all the screws and wires out of my mouth from my mouth being wired shut and my case was difficult but after speaking with them they told me about choices and options I never knew existed which ended up being exactly what I wanted so I'll definitely be going back they've made an extremely difficult situation so much better especially Rebekah & Dr. Harris. A cracked molar had been putting me in unbearable pain for 3 weeks. An Atlanta endodontist did a root canal on Friday, but didn't complete it stating that the tooth could not be saved and needed to be pulled. He doesn't pull teeth so I needed to go back to my Atlanta dentist which was closed for the weekend. The pain got worse and worse. A friend suggested I go to Smith dental in Hartwell and has Saturday hours. Dr. Verdell and her staff pulled the tooth. The procedure was painless. I am so happy I went there. I chose this office due to the convenience of their late hours and Saturday appointments. The first time I went, I received a rude "vibe", however I was willing to overlook this for the appointment times. This past Saturday, I took myself and my two sons, aged 10 and age 4. I have never had a cavity, nor has my 10 year old son. The dentist saw my 4 year old and said that he had 2 cavities and he had other teeth that were stained and he needed to have the cavities fixed. She said, "you can tell that the toothbrush does not reach the back of his mouth." I bet you feed him a lot of sweets. To which I replied, "I brush his teeth the same as I brush my oldest son's and my own and his diet is no different from any other 4 year olds." I asked her what the process of getting the cavities fixed entailed and she said he would have to have fillings. I asked her how they do "fillings". She said, "it's 2019, get on YOUTUBE." I asked her how they would do the fillings. Would they put him to sleep? Would they numb him? She said that I would have to hold him down and try to have a better reaction and look on my face than what I did right then for them to administer injections. We leave and go to get in the car and I realized that she never even told me which two teeth have the cavities so I had to go back inside to ask. I have called the office and asked to speak to the office manager. The front desk told me that they would email him and give him my name and my phone number and HOPEFULLY he would call me back. read more

I went to Smith Dental because of the convenience of being open on Saturday. I told the dentist that I had a cavity under the gum line and the tooth had a crown and I didn't think that it could be saved. Well the dentist assured me that he could do a root canal and save the tooth! The cost was $2215.00. I put it on my credit card. Made appointment for the next Saturday, he started the root canal, 2 hrs later he told me after a lot of drilling that he could not find the 3rd canal and he would have to do a temporary filling and finish next Saturday. On the next Saturday he drilled for another hour, then told me there was not enough tooth left to crown. We was going to have to surgically extract the tooth. I had no choice but to let him do it. It felt like he was breaking my jaw!!! I was out of work for 8 days before I went to Dr Macdonald in Athens to finish what he started!! They did refund my money after several phone calls to the CEO. made an appointment 4 days prior to the visit which was at 6p.m. in so much pain. the Dr finally pulled my tooth at 8:15.

My step-daughter was supposed to have a root canal done over the weekend. Well, first of all, they told us the wrong time for our appointment. We were told to be there at 1pm but they had us in the computer for 9:30am. We would have rescheduled had we been asked, but the dentist insisted he could fit us in. He then comes into the room to tell us he will only do the first half of the procedure, as to not put his other patients' schedules behind. We were fine with that. After he (attempted) to numb her on three separate occasions (from which now she has a bruised cheek), he went to start the work. She had a slight jump as she hasn't had dental work done since she was much younger. After that, she sat still for him to continue working. But as he was already irritated before he even started, he decided her little jump was enough for him to decide "he didn't want to do it." The dentist applied a temporary filling and now we are looking to find a dentist who is actually compassionate with kids (as they should be with all their patients) and a Dr. who will do quality work. Not to mention, we had already put a down payment on the root canal therapy and are now out $100. I have called the office multiple times (since I have yet to receive my return call) and their billing office is conveniently "not in yet" each time. And trying to get a copy of the chart has been much more difficult than it should be. Supposedly, the office manager is the only one who has the capability to get into it.
