My buddy chose green beans, and I went with the Inca pork beans. I asked the woman at the counter to recommend a sauce, and she took the time to explain each one, patiently answering all my basic questions. It turns out, the chicken didn't need any sauce at all. It was smoky, moist, and packed with flavor--crispy on the outside with a deep, wood-fired taste that lingered with every bite. The Inca pork beans were hearty and full of flavor, a solid sidekick to the main event. The street corn salad, while fresh, could have used a bit more kick--maybe a sprinkle of cheese or a dash of lime to brighten it up. The interior's industrial strip mall vibe is functional but could benefit from a few authentic touches--like Peruvian art or music--to match the rich flavors coming out of the kitchen. There weren't any open seats so I went to wait in my truck. After 15 minutes I went back inside and still waited another 15 minutes before my order was ready. This is clearly a community and family restaurant. While I waited I got a chance to check out all the baby pictures on the wall and socialize with all the other families waiting on their order. Overall I enjoyed my fried chicken but I don't understand what the hype was about. Yes it's super cheap. My order was $5 including tax but the wings were small and barely had any meat on them.
