    Quarter chicken platter

This place is so incredibly good- wow. If I lived in Leland I'd be a regular here. They have really good Peruvian food that is quick serve. We tried the chicken platters empanadas and they were all exceptional. My son ordered the tres leches cake and it was probably on the best I've had. I am seriously contemplating dealing with the bridge traffic to get their food again.

Made to order! Hidden Gem. Great food.

So Good!!! What a find in Leland NC. Get the Peruvian Taquito special on Wednesday. Addicting. Eat inside or out on the patio. Fresh, delicious made to order.

Papis is a great fast casual Peruvian restaurant with some flavor packed Peruvian chicken. If you have not had Peruvian chicken before it is a marinaded chicken that is then cooked on a rotisserie over charcoal. The chicken comes out tender, juicy, and with a little smoky flavor that takes it over the top. They have quite a few options for sides, and I am a sucker for their tostones. They also have a great selection of sauces you can try to spice things up. Definitely worth giving them a try!

Hair in our fry's clearly on top was not rude to the wait staff or anything was hard to hear with the music playing

The food was good but they brought out these fry's and the hair in it clearly looked intentional writing reviews is not my thing but this is disgusting and show how they care for there customers as they are not busy

I've visited Papis Chicken several times and I have always been pleased with each dish! I got the half chicken, fried rice, and black beans. All was good, but that chicken is 5 worthy! If you want some of the BEST chicken in the Leland/Wilmington then you got to visit Papis! Also the atmosphere is awesome to dine in and there is plenty of parking! Service is always top notch Over all I would give this place 4.5

Fast-casual Peruvian chicken and much, much more awaits you at Papi's Chicken in Leland. Housed in a large storefront, the setup will be familiar with anyone who has been to Papi's sister restaurant, El Chingon, just a short drive away. It's basically cafeteria style: first you get in line (large signage shows the way) and then place your order, get your food and pay. Lively music plays and the ambiance is warm and inviting. Booths are large and comfortable and there are large communal tables as well. The food and drinks are quite tasty. I had the 1/4 dark chicken, along with rice and black beans, with a small Horchata to drink. Delicious! Husband had the 1/2 chicken with tostones and fries. We both had the green sauce, which is my preferred Peruvian sauce. The spice level is fairly tame, yet full of flavor. My parents went a little off the traditional path for their meals. Mom got the chicken salad in avocado, which I tried, and can absolutely vouch for - it's excellently seasoned. Dad went with the daily special, which on Wednesday is the BBQ chicken sandwich. He enjoyed every bite. Looking forward to a return visit next time we're in Leland.

This was the first time eating at Papi's Chicken and I'm glad I discoverered this place. I had a quarter chicken white meat with 2 sides (black beans and white rice), along with the green cilantro sauce. The meat was a just a little on the dry side and the skin wasn't crispy, but the flavors were wonderful. I enjoyed the green sauce - I make mine spicier. This is a casual place where you order at the counter. Service was friendly. Prices reasonable. I didn't notice the daily specials that were listed outside, but did see it on the napkin holder. They should have it posted with all the other food items on the menu, but at least I now know where to look for it. Leland doesn't have many restaurants so I'm glad I found this place. I look forward to taking DH so he can try it out too.

Papi's Chicken is a fast casual restaurant, where you place your order at the counter. You can see the chickens cooking on a rotisserie pit. Most of the sides are pre-prepared and sit in hotel pans at the counter. Ordered the entree 1/4 dark chicken with sides of tostones and chaufa. I also tried the cheesy yuca bites, plantains, roasted potatoes, and Caesar salad. I wanted to try the dulche de leche empanadas and cilantro lime dressing, but they were out. This was on a Friday night at 6:45pm. It was not that busy during that time. By the way, they do not make dulche de leche from scratch. The dark chicken meat was tender but the skin was not crispy. The chicken flavor was good. The tostones were good, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Aroma of Peru's tostones were crispier, though. Chaufa was okay, just basic fried rice with chicken. The plantains were perfect-soft with some crispy edges. The roasted potatoes were okay-soft and flavored with dried rosemary. The cheesy yuca bites were small-sized nuggets, lightly crispy on the outside. Inside was moist mashed yuca with melted cheese in the middle. The cheese was yellow-colored and tasted like fake, ultra processed cheese. Wouldn't order this again. The Caesar salad was terrible. It was soaked with Caesar salad dressing and the lettuce was old, wilted. My dinner companion had the side of Inka Pork Beans, which he liked, but he wished it was hotter in temperature. Now for the sauces. They have three sauces and they are all similar to Aromas of Peru. The sauces are at a self-serve station. Of course, my favorite was the spicy one. It really wasn't that spicy (unless you're really sensitive). I prefer Aroma's of Peru's spicy sauce, it has a better flavor and is more garlicky. The green herb sauce and yellow sauce were both good. The yellow sauce's mustard flavor is not as strong as Aromas of Peru's. They have a small refrigerated display case with to-go salads, tres leche cake, cheesecake, and drinks. Interesting, noticed the tres leche cake to-go was $0.50 cheaper than it says on the menu at the counter where you order. They offer 10% off for military, police officers, first responders, and firefighters. They also have a special for buy one get one 1/2 off of any chicken combo with purchase of two drinks from Monday to Thursday, 6 p.m. to closing.

Not much flavor other than smoke and grease. Service was rather unsmiling. For the cost of eating out, I expect more.

"Good Mexican with a twist near downtown Wilmington"…read more Came here on a Wednesday night for dinner at 6pm and were seated immediately despite it being a group of 5. The place was not very large but relatively full, so be wary of coming later unless you're OK waiting. The restaurant had a bit of a rustic look but clean & well maintained, and nice local art posted on the walls. Staff were welcoming and friendly, and a lot of the food was sourced locally. We started with a sweet potato- goat cheese "guacamole" appetizer. I split the Jefe's Arroz Con Pollo and the Carne Con Ancho with my son. My girlfriend got the vegan rellenos. Food came out in maybe 20 minutes. The ACP was very good but unusual. It came with a thigh and leg of chicken on top, and a big mix of flavors of food underneath-- coconut rice, black beans, pineapple salsa. Curiously no cheese. Very different from any ACP I've ever had. Overall, it was fine-- honestly, my son and I both felt it was too many flavors that overwhelmed each other. In contrast, the Carne Con Ancho was spectacular. The steak bits were cooked rare to perfection and absolutely melt in your mouth. The flavors of the arepa below it as well as the horseradish and other components blended beautifully and made for a wonderful dish. My girlfriend said the rellenos were nicely fried and the sweet potato puree was excellent-- a very hearty dish without feeling heavy. And we all also really liked the guacamole appetizer-- unusual yet delicious flavor (and no avocado). Price was fair-- this was definitely upscale, so not "cheap", but fair for what we got. Overall, I'd happily come back, and definitely would want that Carne Con Ancho again. I recommend.

Make your order, pay for it, and they'll give you a number and bring it to your table if it's busy. I was helped by a lovely young lady, we conversed in Spanish, and went to find a table. Silverware and napkins are next to the drink fountains. The decor on the walls is awesome, a mix of heritage/Latin culture with obvious military support - it's nice to see that. FOOD: I chose the Arroz chaufa (which is Peruvian fried rice) and a side of Maduros (sweet plantains). The arroz came with a small side salad which included fresh lettuce, fresh tomato and cucumber. The rice had scallions, carrots, fried egg, chopped rotisserie chicken, all stir fried together on a hot wok, and served as a very generous portion. Over by the drink fountains you will find two special house sauces there - the yellow and the green one. Both packed a punch of flavor and one had a little extra spicy fire to it. I can imagine how delicious it is with the chicken. The maduros were delicious. I used some of the house green sauce to add some fire to the sweetness. So good! Honestly though, tons of flavor without even having to dip into sauces - same for the arroz! OVERALL: Like I said, 100 stars. This place was bomb! Wish I could pick it up and take it back home with me. Would easily eat here every day if I lived close by and would be racking up them stamps to get a free meal.

From the second we walked in, we felt the vibe -- super clean, beautifully decorated, and full of that energy that tells you "yeah, this place is gonna hit." The food? Legit authentic. Not that watered-down tourist stuff. Everything had real flavor -- like someone's abuela was back there blessing each plate. My mom said the seasoning reminded her of her aunt's cooking back in Puerto Rico -- and that's saying something, because her aunt doesn't play. Drinks were next level. I ordered a margarita and they brought me what looked like a whole bucket of joy. I literally said out loud "¡Papi, bring me another!" Vacation mode was fully activated. The staff? Super friendly, super cool. Spoke Spanish with us, cracked jokes, made us feel at home like we were regulars even though it was our first time. Beautiful spot, authentic food, great people, and good vibes all around. My parents are already talking about coming back next weekend -- and we live 4 hours away.
