I called Smith's in the afternoon. Not long after, locksmith Doug arrived and re-keyed some locks that we've never had keys for. I asked him if he could also install a latch on a sliding window. He had a device that worked with my window on his truck, which he installed quickly. I asked for two keys for the re-keyed locks,. He gave me three, with no charge for the third one. I needed some locks changed fast. I called 3 lock smiths one from the web and one from the yellow pages. I got a lot of tap dancing on the prices and no direct information estimating cost. When a company cant offer a close estimate for routine work keep walking. I at last got smart and called Smiths Lock and Key as I had used them way back when. I got a direct price estimate and also they made every effort to accommodate our needs. I needed same day service on site and I called them at around noon. No double talk or hard sell on new locks or upgrades. The other places could not just tell me a price range and come out and do the job. Smiths was up front and did not waste my time. They arrived well with in the time window they estimated and also the price was under what they estimated they changed 4 locks and made our new keys on site. DO NOT COME HERE!!!!! If you don't want a huge waste of time DO NOT COME HERE. Horrible service, was one of three people waiting, then had 7+ men being helped before me. I had called ahead to make sure they had what I needed in stock. Was there over an hour just to be told that I never said what I needed, and they didn't have it. Sexist worker, handing out discounts for the men having to wait so long. I asked what they could do for me and was told " that it's on me" and it was my fault. I do take responsibility for waiting , because I had called and they told me they had it!!!! Called the owner, all she did was make excuses, and then verbatim told me "well what do you want me to do about it?" Like seriously!?!? Wouldn't you be as frustrated waiting over an hour for nothing!!! I would give this negative stars if I could. GO ANYWHERE ELSE!!! So I accidentally broke a key off in the seat lock of my 2000 Honda VFR800 motorcycle. I went to a locksmith who wouldn't even look at it, and then a motorcycle dealer who said leave it and he would look at it in a few days. I called Smith based on the great yelp reviews I saw. They said come down right now and Georgette was able to get the broken key out in about one minute for a bargain price. Needed a car key - very reasonable and helpful. got what I needed with no wait at all.

They were awesome, called them to get some cylinders re-keyed and set up an appointment. I called the day of the appointment and they were ready to go and would meet me at the site within a two hour window of the appointment. Within a half an hour Bobby showed up and could not have been any nicer. He did much more than expected and had to even fix a deadbolt. I could not have expected them to do anymore and the price was way lower than I would have thought. I only wish I had them do my locks the first time around. I was way over charged the first time I had locks re-keyed. I would highly recommend them for all of your jobs. read more

Imagine my horror when I inserted the key to the front door of my house and not only could I not turn the key to open the door, I couldn't remove the key from the lock. No amount of pulling and twisting could budge the key. I called Smith's and was told Georgette would be out to fix the problem. She arrived right on time and sent right to work. It took her almost 15 minutes of wrestling with the key to remove it, and she then set about to figure out what the problem was. She spent almost 1/2 hour tightening all the screws on the door hinges and filing down the plate on the facing door that the deadbolt had to slip into. Apparently the door was so out of line that the deadbolt went in and the pressure on the adjoining door prevented it from releasing. I would recommend Smith's without reservation. They know what they're doing, and charge a fair price. read more
