This review will be short because well, there just isn't much to say. SMITH'S SODA SHOP in Cleveland GA had been on my radar to try for a few years now and I finally had the chance to take a ride and check them out. This is your classic diner type of experience with stand alone chairs facing the cooks over the counter and a few booths, very small inside. They are huge COCA-COLA fans and have a bunch of memorabilia on their walls, pretty cool. Their double cheeseburger was small in size but juicy, but lacked anything that would make it special. Their fries are OK and have a steak cut to them which means they have to be well cooked or they'll be soggy and my preference is crispy and well done, which this was not. The young lady that took my order was either having a bad day or just didn't like bikers because friendly customer service was just not there. She took my order, said nothing then brought my meal and said nothing... that was the extent of her customer service. There was an older gentlemen and lady in there as well helping other guests and they seemed very friendly and pleasant though. When I was done eating I was quite embarrassed because they do not accept cards which I did not realize before sitting down, ordering and eating my meal. They kindly allowed me to leave their establishment to get some cash (INGLES around the corner) and come back to pay my fair share of their meal. The meal was very small but so was the cost so you have to take that into account. The views on the way there can be spectacular if you avoid the main roads and just take a few back roads. If you're in the area and give them a try let me know what you're experience is like and what type of service you get! I'd be curious to know but make sure you bring cash!! Roli's Rating: 1. Service: 5/10, My waitress didn't care about customer service but I saw the other staff interacting and being friendly with their guests plus I was allowed to go grab cash and told, with a smile "no problem at all, we'll be here". I suppose service will depend on who you get as your server 2. Price: 10/10, Their meals are on the smaller side but you'll easily be able to get a burger, fries and a drink for about $6 3. Location and Parking: 7/10, Location isn't too bad as this location is right down the road from the downtown Cleveland area. Parking isn't too bad either although I can see it getting a little tight when busy 4. Cleanliness: 10/10, Place seemed to be pretty clean 5. Health Rating: A 6. Roli Overall Rating: 5/10, Ok spot to stop by only if you're in the immediate area **Roli's Recommendations** BURGERS, CHILI CHEESE HOT DOGS

Seating was roomy and comfortable. Bathroom clean. Our group got a variety of things from the menu and off menu. The pulled pork sandwich was right on. Couldn't eat all of so we saved it and ate it with some eggs at breakfast. Yum! The fried okra was hot and crunchy, and quite the serving. The little dish was heaped high with deliciousness. I got the Brunswick Stew, which was not on the menu, but on the specials board at the entrance. I never miss a chance to eat Brunswick Stew. It was just right. Not too spicy. Not too vinegary. I got a bowl and shared it. I also got the baked sweet potato. That was a real treat. The potato was hot and cooked to silky smooth. It's served with this brown sugar butter that made it a dessert. One our group got the fried apple pie with ice cream. I'm not a fan of fruit pies, but I did have a nibble of the crust. It was light and crispy. Not heavy, tough and crumbly as I've seen done by others in the mountains. I would almost eat a serving of fried crust dough. Serve with that butter for the sweet potato, and some ice cream-THAT would be awesome. On your way out don't forget to pick up some grits or pancake mix from Logan Mill. It's the only grits I serve at my house.

The food and service was good. My only negative is that I don't like chunks of fat in my bbq and…read morethere was a lot.

You walk in, grab a tray, and you've got options. You can go through the hot bar and get served right there, pay, and be on your way... or order off the menu, sit down, and they'll bring the food to you. Very simple and efficient. The inside is spacious with plenty of seating, and there's also outdoor seating if you want it. Parking is easy too, which is a big plus, especially compared to the chaos you'll run into closer to Helen. Food wise, I always judge breakfast spots by the chicken, egg, and cheese biscuit... and this one held up. The chicken was tender, the biscuit was soft and fresh, and overall it was a solid start. The surprise for me was the hashbrown casserole. It came out good, but once I added a little salt, the flavor really popped. Definitely worth getting. The pancakes were also done right... nice crispy edges with a soft, fluffy inside. That's exactly how pancakes should be. Menu wise, they've got everything you'd expect from a Southern breakfast spot... biscuits and gravy, eggs, bacon, sausage, country ham, pancakes, omelets, and even lunch style items like burgers and plate meals if you come later. They also have a Coca-Cola fountain, which is always a win. Service was friendly, especially for early morning, and the whole place just has that comfortable, old-school home cooking feel. There is also a drive thru if you don't feel like leaving your car. Overall, this is a great spot if you want a good breakfast without the crowds. Simple, tasty, and easy.
