I have not been to Smitty's in a while probably since the Covid and I am glad that I went. I went for my cousins birthday gathering and I got the baby back ribs with a big potato and Caesar salad. It was so good. Flavorful baby back ribs were delicious. If you're looking for some ribs at a restaurant, this is a place also I had a Prosecco that was delicious. I love the ambience here at Smitty's, and the service is always outstanding from the level of the waitress up to management. Everyone takes care of you.

    Artichoke.... Omg so good!

Let me update my review.... Friday night dinner, excellent way to start the weekend. Delicious dinner, drinks, and stunning Delicious dessert. Wowzers!

A++++ for server Anthony Marks he was so patient and helpful with our ordering. My sister ended up ordering the trout which was a very large portion and equally large amount of steamed broccoli! We shared a salad. We liked the bread basket and their butter was fancied up with some herbs. Cosmopolitan and Pinot Grigio to wash it all down and delicious chocolate cake.....omg so rich and decadent. Thank you Anthony

I think we got really lucky with Anthony as first timers. His enthusiasm and positivity really made the experience it. Food was nice. Drinks were excellent, but customer service surpasses all & he did just that!

My wife and I were visiting Pasadena and staying at the Hyatt when a neighbor recommended Smitty's and we're so glad they did. From the moment we arrived, the entire staff was excellent, welcoming, and attentive. Our server, Anthony, was outstanding and truly elevated the experience. The restaurant has a warm, cozy, and intimate ambiance that we absolutely loved.....a very inviting and perfect for a relaxed evening. The menu offers a great variety along with rotating daily specials, which is always a plus. Parking on a Friday night was a bit challenging, but they offer valet for just $8, and Venture, the attendant, was fantastic and made it easy. Food Review: Pear Salad: Delicious and a perfect way to start the evening. Cornbread (5/5): WOW. An absolute must-have. Chicken Piccata (5/5): Perfectly prepared and full of flavor. Chicken Pot Pie (5/5): A must have and more then enough for two if you would like. Pecan Pie: (5/5) Beautifully plated and delicous. Between the food, service, and warm ambiance, Smitty's is a place we'll absolutely return to next time we're in Pasadena.

We came here for our company holiday dinner. This is the first time I dine here. When I walked in, I love the warm, welcoming and festive vibe of the restaurant. We were seated by the patio area due to our party size. The servers are amazing. They offered various wines and took our drink orders. As soon as we sat down, all the appetizers arrived. We had the ahi tuna, the famous corn bread, chicken and beef skewers. We felt so full after sampled different appetizers. For starter, I had the mixed green salad which was so fresh and delicious. I had the petit filet mignon with broccoli. I asked for medium and I think it came as medium rare, a little too rare for me, nevertheless it was good. For dessert, I tried the chocolate mousse cake and took the key lime pie to go. Such an amazing meal. I'll come back for a date night dinner and try other entrees here.

Go to Americana fare in Pasadena by the same restaurant group that owns Parkway Grill and the Arroyo Chop House. Smitty always delivers for a great American dining experience for celebrations, business dinners or just have a nice night out. Full bar, steaks, prime rib, seafood, full bar & cocktails and always great Smith Brothers service. Parking in the back available.

I was in town visiting for a work training and my coworker recommended this place! The restaurant itself is very warm, cozy, and intimate. The service was amazing and all staff were welcoming and attentive. The menu has a lot of variety and daily specials that change! We got lucky with parking right out front, but this area may get a little difficult on weekends. Definitely worth a try if you're in the area. Food review: Bread and garlic&herb butter: (5/5) This was so delicious! The butter was sooo flavorful and paired with the warm sourdough, it was perfect. Hanger steak: (5/5) Yum! It was cooked perfectly medium and had a fantastic chimichurri on top. The potatoes and asparagus that came on the side were also tasty. It was the perfect portion. BBQ ribs: I personally didn't try them, but my colleague said they were delicious!! She's had them before and is never disappointed.

We were the first couple to be seated and were greeted by a large happy hour scene just ending. Well, we came for the Pasadena Cheeseburger Week, so I ordered the new Wagyu Burger to try it out. The food is good here, but I really wanted to order a steak, medium rare. I'm going to come again and will try some real beef medium rare!

Buttermilk Fried Mary's Chicken, Cornbread Muffins, Honey Butter

Smitty's is a smart, little restaurant where I wouldn't be surprised to see Jon Hamm from Mad Men from the corporate world of the 1960's. Of course, the food is updated to New American to include a lot of Italian dishes, but there are the classic steaks, prime ribs, meatloaf, buttermilk fried chicken, chicken pot pie, good representation of seafood, etc. 0) Thick, cut bread is a rustic, yeasty sourdough with rugged crust; soft, moist plush interior. The garlic parsley butter had a pronounced allium funkiness to emphasize its bucolic nature. 1) French Fries are of the finely julienned allumette/match stick potato variety which requires more labour and knife skills. I wanted them crispy, and it was honored maybe a little more than wished for. My bad. Next time, I'll ask for the menu default. Small cup of Heinz ketchup paired well. 2) Buttermilk Fried Mary's Chicken, Cornbread Muffins, Honey Butter: Half of a big chicken is marinated in buttermilk so that even the usually dry breast meat is soft, moist. Batter is lightly herbed and thin to produce a subtle crispiness. Just wish the buttermilk marinade was kissed by garlic, sage, thyme, oregano, etc. so that it would infuse into the chicken meat which was rather bland. Corn Bread has a crunch around the edges while the inside is more moist. Might have touch of flour for a sweet, cake-like feel. The honey infused butter pairs well. This menu item can comfortably feed two people. Take it home to make a chicken sandwich or curry salad. 1-2) I asked for Chandon Brut Rosé Vin Pétillant but I noticed on the check it was a Jeio Prosecco which had an earthy, yeasty, sweet, bitterness along with an overly sun exposed caramelized toastiness. Chandon would have had a brighter, more palate cleansing acidity. This switcheroo by the bar was unexpected. Tracy was right for our table of 8 which was like herding cats. Accommodating, patient, yet understatedly personable. She was good at reading the table and anticipating our needs. At the same time she made sure she didn't disturb our flow of conversation. Casual yet stylish, Smitty's has a varied New American menu that is adequate, trying to find a mean which should satisfy most. 4- stars

    The Grill Mixed Green Salad

Smitty's is a popular local spot and stopped by for an early dinner. . Plenty of parking in back for the half dozen restaurants close-by and some limited street parking on Lake. It was before 6PM so we were to seated right away. The restaurant is spacious with an outdoor seating area at the back patio. The main dining area is very well appointed, modern but with a lot of wood touches, to give it a homier vibe. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They check on you frequently and the service is at a level you would expect from a Smith Brothers restaurant. We started with some bread. It was very good sourdough loaf especially with the softened garlic butter, I was hungry so I made the rookie mistake of filling up on bread. The mixed green salad was okay, but refreshing considering the heat LA was experiencing at the time. We ordered the sand dabs and fried chicken. Sand dabs was in a lemon caper sauce, very good and crazy big portion plus some broccolini. The fried chicken portion was enough for 2 people or 3 if they filled up on bread. The chicken was well fried, super crispy and the white meat portion was still juicy. It was well seasoned but It could have use a little more spice, at crank up the black pepper. It was served with 2 corn bread muffins with honey butter, so good, worth the calories. I wished they served the chicken with some coleslaw to balance it out the richness. Overall Smitty's Grill was a pretty good experience and the food was good. The service was top notch and the portions was big so some value added points for you budget conscious diners. I would give the food alone 4 stars but the service and experience bumps it up to 5.

Ask the Community - Smitty's Grill

Does this place have outdoor dining?

They have an outdoor area that is covered in the back and a few outdoor tables in the front on the street side. I prefer the main dining room personally.

    Is there Parking?

There's a paid lot behind it or lots of street parking in front.

Do they have happy hour Sunday?

I asked Caroline M but she didn't know.

Do they still have the butterscotch pudding? It is not listed on the website menu.

We do not, but our other restaurant Arroyo Chop House does!

What is the wine corkage fee?

$25.00 a bottle for the first & second bottle after that it's flat $50.00

And at 6:30pm on a Sunday, we were the only guests inside. Only one other couple came in during the 30 minutes we were there. I would assume they are a lot busier on Friday and Saturday night. It is dimly lit, and very red inside. The bar is large with many bottles of liquor on display and many seats. The rest of the space is one large area that must have at least 20 tables, and the ceiling is high. It gives off more of a nightclub vibe than a speakeasy vibe. I tried the Naked & Famous cocktail which has two of my favorite spirits (Vida mezcal, aperol, yellow Chartreuse, lime, $18). It was nicely balanced with a good mix of smoke and herbal flavor. She had the Pablo's Poison (Altos reposado tequila, strawberry, lime, jalapeno, elderflower, $17). The jalapeno flavor really stood out with strawberry and elderflower in the background. They have a good cocktail menu with almost twenty cocktails, as well as a food menu with ten items. Walk up to the bar to order your drinks. I'd absolutely come back for the Tap Room! And thank you to Francis and his excellent service

They do not take reservations and it gets pretty busy around 8ish so I recommend you show up around 7:30pm just before the live music starts. The ambience is moody and romantic, featuring deep hues and prohibition era decor, there are comfortable chairs with small cocktail tables and large leather couches for larger parties. The drinks were well poured and very tasty, highly recommend the Huntington for a bold drink that's ideal for the setting. This is a great place for a sexy and intimate date night. The live music was spectacular, some seriously good vocals, and the jazzy and soul selection was again impeccably matched for the ambiance. I enjoyed that all of the guests were dressed nicely, nothing I love more than an opportunity to slip on a sexy dress and heels while still staying local. This is the place if you want a reason to dress up. The food menu was limited and not my favorite but everything else was so unique and satisfying that I can overlook the food not being my favorite. The squash blossoms were very good but not very filling, the beet dip was a bit too sweet for my liking. This will definitely be a nice treat for date night, can't wait to come back.

Cannonball did not disappoint! I came with a group of 3 to celebrate a friend's birthday. There's a…read morefree parking structure around the corner to the restaurant. We ordered a variety of dishes to share, including the buttermilk biscuits, yellowfin tuna tartare, BBQ chicken, calamari, and the fideos, and every single dish was delicious. My personal favorites were the buttermilk biscuits and the fideos. The biscuits were warm, buttery, and absolutely irresistible, while the fideos were packed with flavor and easily a standout dish. Everything else was just as enjoyable, the tuna tartare was fresh, the calamari was perfectly cooked, and the BBQ chicken was tender and flavorful. If you're dining with a group, I definitely recommend ordering a few dishes to share so you can try a little bit of everything. We'll definitely be back!

Our server was super friendly and attentive the whole night, gave us great advice on how much food to order, and checked in just enough. We had a couple of solid cocktails and kicked things off with the shaved celery salad and yellowfin tuna tartare. Both of those appetizers were 10/10. The mains (the trout and the chicken) were a little bit of a letdown by comparison, just feeling kind of average, but they were still fine. Just nothing to rave about. The spot has a really nice old-school vibe that felt right for a birthday dinner. Parking is a bit of a headache around there, but keep in mind there's a public parking garage right around the corner that's free on weekends and after noon on weekdays.
